Bismillah [IslamCity] Islamic World Calls for Boycott of Dutch Products

Islamic World Calls for Boycott of Dutch Products to Protest
Wilders' Film
  Sarah Abdullah, Arab News
  http://www.arabnews .com/?page= 4§ion=0&article=108927&d=14&m=4&y=2008

JEDDAH, 14 April 2008 — Following the release of the 15-minute film
"Fitna," which was launched via the Internet on March 27, created by Dutch MP
Geert Wilders', Muslim leaders and Islamic scholars have called for the
immediate boycott of Dutch products worldwide.
In the movie, Wilders links terrorism with verses of the Qur'an and described
Islam's holy book as, "fascist literature, which calls on Muslims to perpetrate
acts of violence." The movie also begins and ends with the infamous cartoon of
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) that was originally published in the
Danish newspaper Jyllands Posten in 2005 and later in other dailies in other
countries.
The Jeddah-based Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Secretary
General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu expressed his concerns on the dangerous
implications of "Islamophobic actions," such as the film and the cartoons.
He called such forms of expression a "widespread insult to the sentiment of
Muslims of the world," adding that the movie was "a reprehensible act of
incitement and intolerance against peaceful inter-religious and inter-communal
cohabitation that challenges the global agenda for peace and development."
Angered reactions did not only come from within Saudi Arabia but also other
Islamic countries, including Jordan, which has recently began a national
campaign to push for taking Wilders to court.
Furthermore, just last week, Former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamed urged
Malaysia and the Muslim world to launch a boycott of Dutch products, saying
that the impact of such consumer actions by the world's 1.3 billion Muslims
would lead to the Netherlands having to "close shop" and added that a boycott
would be a productive way of putting pressure on the Dutch government to ban
the screening of the film altogether.
Arab News tried for several days to speak to Ambassador Nicholaas Beets at
the Embassy of the Netherlands in Riyadh to get an official reaction on the
film and to inquire about the course of action that would be taken if Saudi
Arabia decides to go ahead with a boycott but was met with no comment.
However a reliable source from within the embassy spoke to Arab News saying,
"The ambassador has been attending meetings with top embassy officials to come
to an agreement and a course of action before releasing a formal statement,"
the source said.
Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who leads the world's largest
Muslim country, which also allows freedom of religion, said he had forbidden
the entry of the anti-Islamic film into his country because the film would
destroy the harmonious relations among people of different backgrounds. "I have
banned the entry and distribution of the film and have asked the Dutch prime
minister to withdraw the film from all distribution channels," Yudhoyono told
thousands attending a service to mark the Prophet's birthday. He also said
Wilders would be banned from entering Indonesia .
Iranian Parliament Speaker Gholam Ali Hadded Adel was quoted by Iranian press
TV as saying that the Muslim world should boycott trade with any country that
allows insults to Islam and that sacrilege of Islamic sanctities is the worst
kind of cultural onslaught and violation of human rights.
Last week, Iran also summoned Dutch Ambassador Radinck van Vollenhoven to
protest at the film which, for his part voiced sorrow over the film's release
stating that it had been condemned by the Dutch government.
Still others expressing outrage over the film include the Muslim nations of
Syria, Pakistan, and Bangladesh as well as top officials such as United Nations
Secretary General Ban Ki-moon who said that the film was "offensively
anti-Islamic" while adding that there is "no justification for hateful speech
or incitement to violence."
But what do the Dutch really think about the film despite the government's
efforts to distance themselves from Wilders? According to a poll of 1,200
persons, conducted in the Netherlands by well-known pollster Maurice de Hond,
one-third of the Dutch population had seen the film in its entirety or in part
a day after the film was posted on the Internet.
The poll found that 20 percent thought it was good that Wilders made and
released the film while 25 percent said they thought it would have been better
that Wilders did not make and release the film. The same poll found 48 percent
of the Dutch were indifferent regarding the subject.
Bernard Wientjes, head of the Netherlands Employer's Organization, has
suggested that Dutch businessmen sue Wilders for financial damages should the
film result in monetary losses due to any boycotting. The BBC also reported
that Kurt Westergaard, the artist who painted the controversial cartoon, is
suing W

Bismillah [IslamCity] Prophets guidance on drinking water

2008-04-16 Thread SA PEER MOHAMED
Drinking from a chipped side of cup is not allowed

Abu Dawud narrated in his Sunan that Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri (R.A.) said:
“The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) disallowed drinking from the chipped side
of the cup and from breathing in the drink.”

The Hadith also teaches the Muslim many types of good behavior. For instance,
drinking from the chipped side of the cup might cause one to swallow the
substances that have accumulated near the chipped side. Also, one might not be
able to enjoy his drink when he is drinking from the cup’s chipped side. In
addition, dirt and fat concentrate near the chipped side and are usually not
fully cleaned when rinsed. Also, the chipped side of the cup is the worst and
is not beneficial. One of our Salaf saw a man once buying inferior goods and
said to him, “Do not buy it, do you not know that Allah has not blessed
inferior things?” Also, the chipped side of the cup might cause injury to
the mouth.

As for breathing in the cup, it will transfer the foul odor from the person
to the drink. This is why the Prophet (s.a.w.s.) has disallowed breathing or
blowing in it. In the Hadith that At-Tirmidhi narrated, Ibn ‘Abbas (R.A.)
said:
“The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) prohibited breathing in the pot (or cup)
or blowing on it.

If some asks, “What about the Hadith in the Sahihain in which Anas (R.A)
narrated:
“The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.S.) used to take three breaths while
drinking”?

We say that we believe in this Hadith and that it does not contradict the
Ahadith that we mentioned, because it only means that the Prophet (S.A.W.S.)
did not sip the drink in one breath.

The Prophet (S.A.W.S.) drank milk undiluted or mixed with water.

Drinking sweet milk in hot areas is very beneficial in preserving the health
and providing moisture for the body and the liver. This is especially the case
when the animals that produce the milk have grazed on wormwood, lavender,
lavender cotton, and so forth, because their milk is both a food and a medicine.
At-Tirmidhi narrated that the Prophet (S.A.W.S.) said:
“When any of you eats food, let him say, ’O Allah! Bless it for us and
give us what is better than it. ‘When someone is given milk, let him say,
‘O Allah! Bless it for us and give us more of it.’ Certainly, milk is the
only food or drink that is sufficient.”

  Further, Muslim narrated:
“The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.S.) used to be made Nabith (some dates
soaked in water) in the beginning of the night and would drink it in the
morning of the next day, the next night and the next day, and another night,
and the next day until ‘Asr. If any of it remained, he would then give it to
a servant or would order that it be poured out.”

The Nabith mentioned in this Hadith is some dates that are soaked in water to
sweeten the water and it is used both in drinks and foods. The Nabith has a
great benefit in strengthening the body and preserving the health. The Prophet
(S.A.W.S.) did not drink the Nabith that is more than three days old fearing
that it might have started to decompose and become intoxicating.

  Superiority of martyrs

  32) Narrated Anas (r.a.): Allah’s Messenger (s.a.w.s.) said: A man from
among people of Paradise will be brought forward. Allah, Azzowajal will ask
him: O son of Adam! How did you find your home? He will reply: O my Lord! It is
the best home, and then Allah will say: Ask and wish anything you like. The man
will say: I would ask you to send me back to the world in order to be killed in
your way ten times. (This is because of the superiority of the martyrdom and
the high position which martyrs would be made to occupy in heaven).

Ahadith Qudsi-30

  The last enter to Paradise

  30) Narrated Abu Dhar (r.a.) Allah’s Messenger (s.a.w.s.) said: I know the
last of the dwellers of Hell to come out and the last of the people of Paradise
to enter. He is a man who would be brought before Allah on the Day of
Resurrection. Then Allah will command the Angles: Ask him about the minor sins
and hide the major ones. Then it will be said to him: On such and such day you
did that and that sin; and on such and such day you committed that and that bad
deed. The Prophet (s.a.w.s.) added: it will be said to him: In place of every
evil deed, you will be granted one good deed. The Prophet (s.a.w.s.) continued,
the sinner would say: My Lord! I have done things which I do not find here. The
narrator said: Indeed I saw the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) laugh until his
premolar teeth were visible. (Because the sinner was forgiven).

(This Hadith is sound and reported by Tirmidhi)

This is how Allah would cover a sinner with His Mercy. Even his minor sins
would be so great that he will feel so ashamed of them that he will not be able
to ask Allah Paradise.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Garlic

2008-03-04 Thread SA PEER MOHAMED

Garlic

Prepared by Susan A. Latta
What are the folklore uses of garlic?
Garlic traditionally has been used as a natural antibiotic thought to
protect against infection, to lower blood pressure, and to treat
atherosclerosis, asthma, arthritis, cancer, and circulatory problems.
  What is garlic?
Garlic grows in the form of a bulb. It is used in cooking to enhance the
flavor, and it may also have some medicinal value.
  How does garlic work?
Allicin, SAC (S-Allyl-Cystine) and ajoene are the three active compounds
found, in varying amounts, in fresh garlic, many commercially produced garlic
pills, and in garlic powder. Allicin, a chemical formed when garlic is crushed,
appears to have antibacterial properties. SAC has been shown to be effective
against the initiation of tumors in animals. Ajoene appears to be an anti-
blood clotting agent.
Garlic supplements contain alliin, an odor-less precursor of the garlic smell
in the active compounds of allicin and ajoene. The enzyme alliinase is needed
to convert alliin to allicin and ajoene.
  How effective is garlic?
Research on medicinal uses of allicin in fresh garlic indicate it can lower
blood pressure and cholesterol. Ajoene may be useful in slowing blood clotting.
In this way, garlic protects against heart disease and stroke. These results do
not apply to garlic supplements, however. Studies also show that fresh garlic,
in large quantities, can lower cholesterol levels. Because garlic thins the
blood, it may lower blood pressure.
Other findings suggest that high levels of garlic may prevent development of
cancer by stimulating the immune system and hindering growth of cancer cells.
Laboratory studies show that garlic can inhibit bacteria growth and may fight
infection. However, those results are unproven in humans.
  How does cooking affect garlic?
Cooking preserves allicin, since heat inactivates the enzyme that weakens
its antibacterial effect. Cooking garlic also decreases the likelihood it will
cause gastrointestinal disturbances.
What are the recommended forms and dosages of garlic?
Research has shown that relatively large amounts must be consumed for
garlic to be medicinally beneficial: one to five or more cloves a day.
A third of a teaspoon of garlic powder equals one dose of the most potent
commercial supplement. If you take garlic supplements regularly, read the
labels to identify the active compounds and their amounts.
Dried garlic does not contain the active compounds of allicin or ajoene, but
does contain alliin. The enzyme alliinase may be present in garlic that has
been dried at low temperatures, but it is unstable in the presence of acid.
When dried garlic is consumed and reaches the stomach, the alliinase is
destroyed by stomach acid; therefore, not much alliin is converted to allicin.

Ahadith Qudsi-29

  The last to enter Paradise

  29) Narrated ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud (r.a.): Allah’s Messenger (s.a.w.s.)
said: The last entrant to Paradise would be a man who walks once and stumbles
once and be burnt by the fire once. When he gets beyond it, he will turn to it
and say: Blessed is He who has saved me from you and has given me what He gave
nobody in the earlier or later times. Then a tree would be raised up for him.
So he will say: O my Lord! bring me closer to this tree so that I may take
shelter in its shade and drink from its water. Allah, Azzowajal would say: O
son of Adam! If I grant you this, you will demand Me something else. He will
say: No, my Lord. He promised that he would ask for nothing else. His Lord
would excuse him because He sees that the man would not patience over it. So He
will make him near it. Then he will take shelter in its shade and drink its
water. Afterwards, a tree more beautiful than the first would be raised up
before him. So he will say: O my Lord! Bring me near this
tree. So that I may drink its water and take shelter in its shade. I shall not
ask you for anything other than that. Allah will say: O son of Adam! Did you
not promise Me that you would not ask Me for anything else. He will reply:
probably I shall ask for nothing if you bring me near it. And he promised Him
that he would not ask Him for anything else. His Lord would excuse him because
He knows that he would not keep his word. Anyhow, He would bring him near to
the tree. The man will take shelter in its shade and drink its water. Then a
tree more beautiful than the first two would be raised up at the gate of
Paradise. He will say: O Lord! Please make near to this tree so that I may
enjoy its shade and drink its water. I shall not ask You anything else. His
Lord would excuse him as the temptation of which he could not resist. So He
will make him near this tree. When He would bring him near it, he would hear
the voices of the inhabitants of Paradise. He would say: O my
Lord! Admit me to it. Allah would say: O son of Adam! What will bring an end
to your demands to Me? Will it please you if I give you the (whole) world and a
similar one along with it? The man will say: Are you mocking at me, though you
are the Lord of the worlds?

Narrating this Hadith Ibn Mas’ud laughed and asked (the hearers): Why
don’t you ask me what I am laughing at. They said: Why do you laugh? He said:
In the same way Allah’s Messenger (s.a.w.s.) also laughed (when he said this
Hadith, and (the Companions) asked: Why do you laugh, O Messenger of Allah? He
replied: On account of the laughter of the Lord of the worlds when the desirous
of Paradise said: Are you mocking at me though you are the Lord of the worlds?
At this, Allah will remark: I am not mocking at you, but I am All-Capable to do
whatever I wish.

(This Hadith is sound and reported by Muslim).

This Hadith highlights the fact that the last entrant to Paradise will
undergo various phases. It also shows the aspect of human nature that man is
not contended with one thing but always desires better than that is available
to him.

Ahadith Qudsi-26

Some of What Allah has prepared for His righteous slaves

  26) Narrated Abu Huraira (r.a) the Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said: Allah, Azzowajal
said: I had prepared for My righteous slaves what no eye has seen nor any ear
has heard nor any human mind has realized (nor it has occurred to any human
heart).

(This Hadith is sound and reported by Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi and
Ibn Majah).

Later on Abu Huraira said: Recite if you wish: No soul knows about the joy
of eyes (pleasure) which has been hidden for them.

What Allah, Subuhanautala has prepared for the believers in Jannah (Paradise)
is beyond any description, imagination or perception. What we read of that in
the Noble Qur'an is only what the human brain can perceive. But Jannah is
beyond all that.

Ahadith Qudsi-25

Paradise is surrounded with hardships whereas Hell is encompassed with lusts

  25) Narrated Abu Huraira (r.a) that Allah's Messenger (s.a.w.s.) said: When
Allah created Paradise, He ordered Jibrael: Go and see it. So he went and saw
it. Then he returned and said: O Lord, By Your glory! Who hears of it would
love entering it. Then He encompassed it with unpleasant things (hardships of
worship) and said: O Jibrael! Go (again) and see it. So he went away to look at
it. Then he came back and said: O lord, By Your glory! I fear that no one will
enter it. The prophet (s.a.w.s.) said: When Allah created Hell, He said: O
Jibrael, go and see it. So he went and saw it. Then he turned up and said: O
Lord, By Your glory! No one who hears of it will enter it. So He encompassed it
with lusts (worldy desires) and said: O Jibrael! Go back and see it. He went
again to see it and came back saying: O Lord, By Your glory! I fear that no one
will escape from entering it.

(This Hadith is fair and reported by Abu Daud, tirmidhi, Nasa'I, Ahmad in
Musnad and Al-Hakim in Mustadrak)
Allah has promised to give paradise in reward to those who do good deeds for
His sake. But man is misguided by the Satan and worldly lusts which cause him
to do bad deeds that lead to Hell. He who undergoes hardships in the cause of
Allah; these hardships will lead him to the enternal abode of pleasures.

his Companions were laughing. He said to them: if you know what I know you
should laugh very little and weep a lot. The Jibrael came to him and said:
Allah says to you: Do not make my slaves feel desparate (from my mercy). Then
the Prophet (s.a.w.s.) came back and said to us: Be hopeful, be happy.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Purification - Intention, Forgetfulness...

2008-01-09 Thread SA PEER MOHAMED
Purification - Intention, Forgetfulness. ..

'Abdullah ibn as-Sunnabiji stated that the Messenger of Allah said:

"When a slave makes ablution and rinses his mouth, his wrong deeds fall from
it. As he rinses his nose, his wrong deeds fall from it. When he washes his
face, his wrong deeds fall from it until they fall from beneath his eyelashes.
When he washes his hands, his wrong deeds fall from them until they fall from
beneath his fingernails. When he wipes his head, his wrong deeds fall from it
until they fall from his ears. When he washes his feet, his wrong deeds fall
from them until they fall from beneath his toenails. Then his walking to the
mosque and his prayer give him extra reward."

(Related by Malik, an-Nasa'i, Ibn Majah and al-Hakim.)

Pronouncing The Intention Verbally - Shaykh Abdul-Azeez ibn Baaz

What is the ruling regarding pronouncing the intention verbally in Salaat and
Wudoo?

The ruling regarding this is that it is an innovation. Because it has not been
reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) or his companions, therefore it
is an obligation to abstain from it. The place of the intention is the heart,
generally there is no need to pronounce the intention verbally. And Allaah is
the possessor of all success.

Washing the Hands[1] Before the Face During Wudhoo - Shaykh Abdul-Azeez ibn Baaz

I was performing Wudhoo for Salaah and I forgot to wash my face and washed my
hands [2]. I then remembered that, so I washed my face, then my hands[3] and
then completed the Wudhoo. Is there anything upon (me) with regards to that?
And O Eminent Shaykh! What if somebody forgets to wash his face and did not
remember this until he finished the Wudhoo? Please give us the Islaamic ruling,
may Allaah reward you with good.

There is nothing upon you with regards to that, because you went back, washed
your face and then you washed your hands[4] and then completed the Wudhoo. As
for the one who left out (washing) his face and did not remember it until he
finished the Wudhoo, consequently he must redo the wudhoo because it is an
obligation to maintain it’s sequence and wash the prescribed bodily parts in
succession without interruption (whilst performing Wudhoo).

And Allaah is the Possessor of all success.

Wiping Over the Nape During Wudhoo - Shaykh Abdul-Azeez ibn Baaz

Is wiping over the nape whilst performing the Wudhoo not recommended? Because I
have heard that it is imitating the Jews?

Yes, it has not been recommended, and Islamically it has not been legislated to
wipe over the nape, however wiping is only for the head and the ears, as this
has been established in the Quraan & Sunnah.

Performing Wudhoo Inside The Bathroom - Shaykh Abdul-Azeez ibn Baaz

What is the ruling upon one who does Wudhoo inside the bathroom? Is his Wudhoo
permissible?

There is no problem for him to perform Wudhoo inside the bathroom if there is a
need for that. He is to invoke the name of Allaah at the beginning of
performing Wudhoo, by saying (ÈÓã Çááå) ‘In the name of Allaah’ because
invoking the name of Allaah (ÇáÊÓãíÉ) is compulsory according to some of the
people of knowledge, and an emphasized Sunnah according to majority of the
scholars. So he is to invoke the name of Allaah and the ruling of (ÇáßÑÇåÉ)
Karaahah (dislike - for uttering it inside the bathroom) is removed because
legitimately the (ÇáßÑÇåÉ) Karaahah ceases when the need is present (like in
this case) to invoke the name of Allaah (inside the bathroom). As the person
has been commanded to invoke the name of Allaah at the beginning of Wudhoo, so
he is to invoke the name of Allaah and then complete his Wudhoo.

As with regards to the supplication upon completing the Wudhoo (ÇáÊÔåÏ) ‘the
declaration of faith’ then it is to be uttered after coming out of the
bathroom, as the bathroom is a place to relieve one’s needs. So when he
finishes performing Wudhoo, he is to come out of the bathroom and utter the
(ÇáÊÔåÏ) ‘declaration of faith’ outside . However if the bathroom is only for
the purpose of Wudhoo and it is not for relieving oneself from stool or urine,
then there is no problem for him to utter the supplication (ÇáÊÔåÏ)
‘declaration of faith’ inside the bathroom, because in this case the bathroom
is not a place to relieve one’s needs.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Advice to those having performed the Hajj

2008-01-07 Thread SA PEER MOHAMED
The signs of an accepted Hajj or 'Umrah

Question: Are there any signs which appear upon those whose performance of the
Hajj or the 'Umrah is accepted?
Response: It is possible for there to be signs for the one whose Hajj,
fasting, charity or prayer has been accepted by Allaah and they are: the
opening of the heart (to good), happiness of the heart and a lighted face.
Certainly, for worshipping (Allaah) there are signs that appear on the body,
signs that are visible and signs that are hidden. Some of the Pious
Predecessors have mentioned that from the signs that a good (act) has been
accepted (by Allaah) is that he will be granted the towfeeq to do (yet) another
good (act). Certainly the towfeeq of Allaah for him to do more good (acts)
after it, is evidence that Allaah ('Azza wa Jall) has accepted his previous
good (acts). He has made it easy for him to do another good act and is happy
with him for it.

Advice to those having performed the Hajj

Question: What is your advice to the one who has performed the obligatory
(first) Hajj?
Response: My advice is that he should fear Allaah (and be aware of Him) in
performing all that which Allaah has obligated upon him in terms of other acts
of worship such as salaah, zakaah, fasting, honouring the parents, enjoining
family ties and being good to the creation (of Allaah) and to the animals under
ones ownership and other than this from that which Allaah has commanded with.
That which encompasses all of this is the statement of Allaah:
{Verily, Allaah enjoins al-'Adl (justice) and al-Ihsaan (being patient in
performing one's duties to Allaah), and giving (help) to kith and kin: and
forbids al-Fahshaa. (all evil deeds), and al-Munkar (all that is prohibited),
and al-Baghee (all kinds of oppression), He admonishes you, that you may take
heed. And fulfill the Covenant of Allaah (Bay'ah: pledge for Islaam) when you
have covenanted, and break not the oaths after you have confirmed them, and
indeed you have appointed Allaah your surety. Verily! Allaah knows what you
do}, [Soorah an-Nahl, Aayah's 90-91].

for death and supply himself in readiness for the Day of Judgement.
This season of worship brings many benefits, such as the opportunity to
correct one's faults and make up for any shortcomings or anything that one
might have missed. Every one of these special occasions involves some kind of
worship through which the slaves may draw closer to Allaah, and some kind of
blessing though which Allaah bestows His favour and mercy upon whomsoever He
will. The happy person is the one who makes the most of these special months,
days and hours and draws nearer to his Lord during these times through acts of
worship; he will most likely be touched by the blessing of Allaah and will feel
the joy of knowing that he is safe from the flames of Hell. (Ibn Rajab,
al-Lataa'if, p.8)
The Muslim must understand the value of his life, increase his worship of
Allaah and persist in doing good deeds until the moment of death. Allaah says
(interpretation of the meaning):
"And worship your Lord until there comes unto you the certainty." [al-Hijr
15:99] The mufassireen (commentators) said: "'The certainty' means death."
Among the special seasons of worship are the first ten days of Dhu'l-Hijjah,
which Allaah has preferred over all the other days of the year. Ibn 'Abbaas
(may Allaah be pleased with him and his father) reported that the Prophet
(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "There are no days in which
righteous deeds are more beloved to Allaah than these ten days." The people
asked, "Not even jihaad for the sake of Allaah?" He said, "Not even jihaad for
the sake of Allaah, except in the case of a man who went out to fight giving
himself and his wealth up for the cause, and came back with nothing." (Reported
by al-Bukhaari, 2/457).
Ibn 'Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him and his father) also reported
that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "There is no
deed more precious in the sight of Allaah, nor greater in reward, than a good
deed done during the ten days of Sacrifice." He was asked, "Not even jihaad for
the sake of Allaah?" He said, "Not even jihaad for the sake of Allaah, except
in the case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for
the cause, and came back with nothing." (Reported by al-Daarimi, 1/357; its
isnaad is hasan as stated in al-Irwaa', 3/398).
These texts and others indicate that these ten days are better than all the
other days of the year, with no exceptions, not even the last ten days of
Ramadaan. But the last ten nights of Ramadaan are better, because they include
Laylat al-Qadr ("the Night of Power"), which is better than a thousand months.
Thus the various reports may be reconciled. (See Tafseer Ibn Katheer, 5/412).
You should know, my brother in Islaam, that the virtue of these ten days is
based on many things:

Allaah swears an oath by them, and swearing an oath by something is
indicative of its importance and great benefit. Allaah says (interpretation of
the meaning): "By the dawn; by the ten nights" [al-Fajr 89:1-2]. Ibn 'Abbaas,
Ibn al-Zubayr, Mujaahid and others of the earlier and later generations said
that this refers to the first ten days of Dhu'l-Hijjah. Ibn Katheer said: "This
is the correct opinion." (Tafseer Ibn Katheer, 8/413)

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) testified that these
are the best days of this world, as we have already quoted above from saheeh
ahaadeeth.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) encouraged people to
do righteous deeds because of the virtue of this season for people throughout
the world, and also because of the virtue of the place - for the Hujjaaj
(pilgrims) to the Sacred House of Allaah.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) commanded us to
recite a lot of Tasbeeh ("Subhan-Allaah"), Tahmeed ("Al-hamdu Lillaah") and
Takbeer ("Allaahu akbar") during this time. 'Abdullaah ibn 'Umar (may Allaah be
pleased with him and his father) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings
of Allaah be upon him) said: "There are no days greater in the sight of Allaah
and in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Him than these ten days, so
during this time recite a great deal of Tahleel ("La ilaaha ill-Allaah"),
Takbeer and Tahmeed." (Reported by Ahmad, 7/224; Ahmad Shaakir stated that it
is saheeh).

mediums for the propagation of Islam.
“The world has shrunk and you can introduce Islam to millions around the
world sitting inside your house free of cost,” he said. Akkari was speaking on
“Internet and Dawa” at an IT and media seminar organized by Jeddah’s Indian
Islahi Center to mark the organization’s silver jubilee.
Dr. Marouf Mohideen, president of the Islamic Research Foundation
International, formally opened a website for the center.
  K. Mustafa, manager of Amtech systems, spoke on IT’s role in one’s daily life
and highlighted the diverse and numerous applications of Information
Technology. Mohammad Subhi of the Jeddah Dawa Center discussed “Media: A
general Overview.”
P.A.M. Haris, a Dammam-based journalist, spoke on “Media: The Real and the
Ideal” and invited the attention of the audience to the urgent need for the
Muslim community to have its own news agencies. So far no attempt in this
regard has been successful, which is a matter of regret, he said.
Earlier in the day, Dr. Nabeel Hammad, director of Al-Huda Television,

Bismillah [IslamCity] Secrets of Remedy by Dates

2007-11-12 Thread SA PEER MOHAMED
Secrets of Remedy by Dates

By Engineer Abdel-Daym Al-Kahil
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) gave a special attention for Dates as part of the
believer’s diet especially during the Holy month Ramadan. Allah Almighty
mentioned Palm trees many times in the Quraan, and made it the food of the
dwellers of Paradise, So what are the secrets of this great nutriment? Is it
possible to think of using dates as remedy for some diseases? What do
scientists of today say about dates?
Dates are one of the most nourishing fruits and It’s called sometimes “Bread
of Desert”, More than two third of dates’ weight is natural sugar. This fruit
was highly esteemed by the ancient civilizations more than 5000 years ago;
ancient Egyptians considered dates as a symbol of fertility, while the Romans
and the Greeks used it to ornament their stately triumph pageants[1]. Today,
dates are widely-grown in the Arabian Peninsula, Iran, Egypt, Iraq, Spain,
Italy and the United States. There are more than 600 varieties of dates[2].
Next, we are going to explore the usefulness of dates to humans throughout
the different stages of their lives.
  Dates and the Prebirth period
Dates stimulate the uterus by regulating And brisking it's contractions which
facilitate delivery. The uterus is a relatively large muscular organ and it
urgently requires an adequate supply of natural sugar during labor and
delivery. Being laxative, dates are essential for pregnant women before
delivery in order to purge the colon and intestine and to facilitate delivery.
The miraculousness of the Quranic verse shows evidently as Allah tells Mary:
(And shake the trunk of the palm tree towards thee – thou wilt cause ripe dates
to fall upon thee) [Mariam – 25]
  Nutriment and medicine for children
Dates contain natural sugar which is easily absorbed and digested, thus, it
is safe and comforting for children’s stomach and intestine. And the dates
juice is useful especially if we mix it with Milk to become very nourishing and
restorative drink for children and adults. Dates and honey paste is used for
the treatment of diarrhea and dysentery in children but it should be taken
three times a day.
This paste also comforts and hardening the gums during teething and
facilitates the process.
It is advisable to purchase the good varieties of dates and to wash them
thoroughly before use especially when used as food or remedy for children.
Here, we should mention the prophetic tradition of (Al Tahneek); rubbing the
newborn’s mouth with a well-chewed date and feeding him with it. Science has
proved that giving the newborn some sugar dissolved in water provides the child
with the necessary nutrition and improves their immunity against diseases.
And when we know that sugar in dates is the most easily absorbed and digested
type of sugar so it will be suitable nutriment for newborns but the dates
should be well-chewed or soaked in water to be easy for the newborn to take.
This proves that the great prophet (PBUH) preceded today’s doctors to this type
of nutrition. It’s no wonder that he preceded them as he is the messenger of
their God.

Figure (1) Dates are the best nutriment for newborns since pregnancy and
during breast feeding
  An effective treatment for constipation
Dates can be used in the treatment of intestinal disturbances and it also
helps the intestine perform their function effectively, and helps establishing
a colony of friendly bacteria in the intestines. Dates are also highly
beneficial in the treatment of constipation as the roughage provided by it
stimulates sluggish bowels. They should be immersed in water at night and taken
after making them into fine syrup the next morning to secure laxative effect
[3].
  A Remedy for Sexual Debility
Date syrup can be used as a treatment for weak heart. It can also be use for
the treatment of sexual weakness. When it’s mixed with milk and honey, dates
can be used as a tonic for the treatment of sexual disturbances for both sexes,
And such syrup strengthens the body and raises its energy levels. The elderly
would benefit from this syrup too. It improves their stamina and purges their
bodies from the toxins that have accumulated in their cells along the years.
  An Ideal Nutriment for Fasters
It was very weird that western physicians who treat their patients by fasting
advise them by taking the natural sugar in fruits and water when breaking the
fast [4]. And when we know that dates contain a high ratio of such
easily-absorbed sugar then dates and water are the best nutriments for fasters.
Here we remember the Hadith of our prophet (PBUH) : (When any of you breaks
his fasting he should eat dates cause dates are blessing, if he didn’t find
dates then drink water cause water is purifying) [Narrated by Abo Dawood].Here
we see that the prophet (PBUH) showed us the principles of effective fasting,
by eating dates and drinking

(This Hadith is sound and reported by Muslim)

The devil plays a role in making people disbelievers by such questions about
Allah Assawajal. Before we deal with such questions of the devil which nobody
can answer, let us ask ourselves a question: Do we know every thing about the
creatures so that we ask about the Creator. The creature can never know how to
answer a queation of this type about Allah Assawajal. Allah created us but
Allah's existence is evident for all of us; His existence was all by Himself.
The "How" of this matter is beyond the perception of the human mind so it is a
pointless queation to ask, but the devil aims at making people go astray. If
you have any such whispering of the devil, you can ask Allah Assawajal to
protect you and say: "I believe in Allah and His Messenger".

All the prophet's (peace be upon him) kindness on his nation is shown in Dates
and in recommending them as he explained the useful things even in such matters.

The benefits and utilities of dates are shown as some doctors mentioned the
benefits of Iftar on Dates and said: (starting Iftar with dates has a lot of
healthy and nutritional benefits, some of these benefits are:

Dates are easy to digest so they don't exhaust the fasting person stomach.

Dates decrease the great hunger feeling of the fasting person and so he
doesn't rush into excessive food eating which causes digestion disorders.

Dates prepare the stomach to receive the food after being inactive through out
the day with activating the release of digestive secretions and juices.

Dates are very rich with sugary energy and so the body is supplied with the
most important nutrients which is sugar that is irreplaceable as a nutrient for
the brain cells and nerves.

Dates Protect the fasting person from having constipation as a result of
changing meals times or as a result of having low fiber amounts in meals.

The alkaline salts in dates adjust the acidity of blood which result from
excessiveness eating of meat and carbohydrates which causes a lot of hereditary
diseases as diabetes, gout, renal stones, gall bladder inflammations, high
blood pressure and haemorrhoids) .

Allah screens the believer in the world as well as in the Hereafter

  16. Narrated Safwan bin Muhriz Al-Mazini: While I was on my way along with
Ibn "Umar (r.a.) taking (holding up) his hand in mine, Suddenly a man appeared
to him and said: What did you hear Allah's Messenger (s.a.w.s.) saying about
confidential talk (secret conversation)? He said: I heard Allah's Messenger
(s.a.w.s.) saying: (On the Day of Resurrection) Allah will draw near to a
believer and put His forgiveness over him and screen him (his sins) then Allah
will say: Do you know such and such sin? Do you know such and such? He will
say: Yes, my Lord! This conversation will continue) until Allah will make him
confess his sins, and thinks that he is ruined. The Allah will say: I concealed
them (your sins in the world) and I do forgive you today. Then he will be given
the record book containing his good deeds. As regards, the infidels and
hypocrites, the witness will say: These are the people who have disbelieved
their Lord. Behold! Allah's Curse is upon transgressors.
(This Hadith is sound and reported by Bukhari, Mulsim and Ibn Majah)

Allah's (Assawajal) mercy can be seen in this world. An
evidence of this is that he covers the sinners through He is All-Mighty and
All-knowing. A further evidence is that he also forgives the same sins in the
Hereafter. He (Assawajal) may also uncover you as a penalty in this world. So
one should always care that Allah is watching him.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Remaining steadfast after Ramadhan

2007-10-20 Thread SA PEER MOHAMED
Remaining Steadfast After Ramadhan

  Shaykh Saleh al-Fouzan
Ahadeeth us-Siyam: Ahkam wa Adab
© Huda Ramadhan 1419AH

Sufyan ibn `Abdillah radhiallahu `anhu said: "O Messenger of Allah, tell me
something about Islam, which I cannot ask anyone else besides you." He said:
"Say: 'I believe in Allah' and then be steadfast (upon that)." [Saheeh Muslim
(38)]

The hadeeth is proof that the servant is obligated, after having eemaan in
Allah, to persevere and be steadfast upon obeying Him by performing the
obligatory acts and avoiding the prohibited ones. This is achieved by following
the Straight Path, which is the firm Religion without drifting away from it, to
the right or to the left.

If the Muslim lives through Ramadhan and spent his days in fasting and his
nights in prayer and he accustomed himself to doing acts of good, then he must
continue to remain upon this obedience to Allah at all times. This is the true
state of the slave, for indeed, the Lord of the months is One and He is ever
watchful and witnessing over his servants at all times.

Indeed, steadfastness after Ramadhan and the rectification of one's
statements and actions are the greatest signs that one has gained benefit from
the month of Ramadhan and striven in obedience. They are tokens of reception
and signs of success.

Furthermore, the deeds of a servant do not come to an end with the end of a
month and the beginning of another, rather they continue and extend until he
reaches death. Allah says: "And worship your Lord until the certainty (death)
comes to you." [al-Hijr: 99]

If the fasting of Ramadhan comes to an end, then indeed the voluntary fasting
is still prescribed throughout the entire year. If standing in prayer at night
during Ramadhaan comes to an end, then indeed, the entire year is a time for
performing the night prayer. And if the Zakat-ul-Fitr comes to an end, then
there is still the Zakah that is obligatory as well as the voluntary charity
that lasts the whole year.

This goes the same for reciting the Qur'an and pondering over its meaning as
well as every other righteous deed that is sought, for they can be done at all
times. From the many bounties that Allah has bestowed upon his servants is that
He has placed for them many different types of righteous acts and provided many
means for doing good deeds. Therefore, the ardor and zeal of the Muslim must be
constant and he must continue to remain in the service of his Lord.

It is unfortunate to find that some people perform worship by doing different
types of righteous deeds during Ramadhan. They guard strictly upon their five
daily prayers in the masjid, they recite the Qur'aan a lot and they give in
charity from their wealth. But when Ramadhan comes to an end, they grow lazy in
their worship. Rather, sometimes they even abandon the obligations, both
generally, such as praying in congregation, and specifically, such as praying
the fajr prayer.

And they commit forbidden acts such as sleeping over the time of prayers,
indulging in places of foolishness and entertainment, and mingling in parks,
especially on the day of `Eed. Obtaining help from these evils is only through
the grace of Allah. Thus, they demolish what they have constructed and destroy
what they have established. This is an indication of deprivation and a sign of
perdition. We ask Allah for His safeguarding and protection.

Indeed, this type of people take the example of turning in repentance and
ceasing from committing evil deeds as something specific and restricted to the
month of Ramadhan. And they stop doing these (good) acts when the month stops.
Thus, it is as if they have abandoned sinning for the sake of Ramadhan, and not
out of fear of Allah. How evil are these people who do not know Allah, except
in Ramadhan!

Truly, the success that Allah grants His servant lies in the fasting of
Ramadhan. His assisting him to do that is a great favor, thus the calls for the
servant to be grateful to his Lord. This understanding can be found in the
statement of Allah after completing the favor of the month of fasting:

"(He wants that you) must complete the same number of days, and that you must
magnify Allah (by saying Allahu Akbar) for having guided you, so that you may
be grateful to Him." [2:185]

The one who is grateful for having fasted, will remain upon that condition
and continue to perform righteous deeds.

Verily, the true way of the Muslim is that of one who praises and thanks his
Lord for giving him the ability to fast and make qiyam. His condition after
Ramadhan is better than it was before Ramadhan. He is more receptive to obey,
desiring to do good deeds and quick to enforce the obligatory acts. This is
because he has gained benefit form this prominent institute of learning. It is
that of one who fears for having his fast not acce

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Brushing One's Teeth During the Ramadan Fast

2007-10-01 Thread SA PEER MOHAMED
Brushing One's Teeth During the Ramadan Fast
Sheikh Salman al-Oadah

Many people avoid brushing their teeth during the day in Ramadan. This is a
mistake, since there is no contradiction between observing the fast and
brushing one's teeth. Moreover, Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said:
"Were it not for the hardship that I would be placing upon my people, I would
have ordered them to engage in siwâk for every prayer." [Sahîh al-Bukhârî (887)
and Sahîh Muslim (252)]

We must understand that the word "siwâk" does not just refer to the tree
branches that are used as tooth sticks, but to the act of brushing the teeth
itself. It is derived from the verb sâk, meaning to rub, clean, buff, or
polish. [Tarh al-Tathrîb (2/63)]

Regarding the question of what can be used for brushing the teeth, Ibn `Abd
al-Barr writes: "The siwâk of the people had been from the arâk and bashâm
trees. Anything that polishes the teeth without harming them and sweetens the
taste of the mouth is permitted for the purpose of brushing the teeth."
[al-Istidhkâr (3/272)]

It is permitted to brush one's teeth at any time during the day while fasting
in Ramadan. As for the hadîth that reads: "When you fast, brush your teeth in
the mornings, but do not brush your teeth in the afternoon." – it is an
extremely weak hadîth. It is related in Sunan al-Bayhaqî, Sunan al-Daraqutnî,
and other sources. Its chain of transmission is too weak to allow it to be used
as evidence.

Therefore, the ruling regarding brushing the teeth in Ramadan remains general.
It is encouraged at all times. This ruling is evident in the hadîth mentioned
above as well as in the hadîth: "Were it not for the hardship that I would be
placing upon my people, I would have ordered them to engage in siwâk every time
they perform wudû'." This means that it is recommended to brush one's teeth
after every wudû' and for every prayer, regardless of whether one is fasting or
not, and regardless of whether it is in the morning of Ramadan or the
afternoon. The Zuhr and `Asr prayers are include in this general ruling just as
the Fajr, Maghrib, an `Ishâ' prayers are included.

In fact, there are six occasions where brushing the teeth I recommended:

1. It is recommended before each prayer.

2. It is recommended for every wudû'.

3. It is recommended when reciting the Qur'ân. The following is related by `Alî
. Abî Tâlib and others: "Indeed, your mouths are pathways fro the Qur'ân, so
make those pathways agreeable with siwâk." [Sunan Ibn Mâjah (291) but with a
weak

4. It is recommended upon entering the home. The father of al-Miqdâm b. Shurayh
had asked `Âishah: "What was the first thing that the Prophet (peace be upon
him) used to do when he entered the house?" She replied that he would brush his
teeth. [Sahîh Muslim (253)]

5. It s recommended when a person has bad breath. The Prophet (peace be upon
him) said: "Siwâk cleanses the mouth and pleases the Lord." [Sunan al-Nisâ'î,
(5), Musnad Ahmad (6/47) and Sunan al-Dârimî (684)]

6. It is recommended upon waking from sleep. Hudhayfah relates that when the
Prophet (peace be upon him) got up at night, he would brush his teeth with a
toothstick." [Sahîh al-Bukhârî and Sahîh Muslim]

It is recommended for a Muslim to brush his or her teeth on these occasions
whether or not he or she is fasting.

Some people assume that brushing the teeth while fasting is discouraged on the
basis of the hadîth where the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "I swear by Him
in whose hand is my soul, the khalûf of a fasting person is more pleasant to
Allah than the scent of musk." [Sahîh al-Bukhârî (1893) and Sahîh Muslim
(1151)]

The assumption that this hadîth discourages brushing one's teeth while fasting
is incorrect for two reasons:

1. The khalûf is the smell that comes from the stomach when it is empty of food
and is not a smell emanating from the mouth.

2. Many scholars explain that the pleasantness of this khalûf for Allah on the
Day of Judgment, as indicated by the narration of the hadîth in Sahîh Muslim:
"I swear by Him in whose hand is my soul, the khalûf of a fasting person is
more pleasant to Allah on the Day of Judgment than the scent of musk." It does
not relate to the affairs of this world, so brushing the teeth will have no
affect on it. If anything, brushing the teeth will provide an additional
dimension of pleasantness, since it is in itself something pleasing to Allah.
It is something Allah enjoined upon the Muslim's through the words of His
Messenger (peace be upon him).

As for any remnants of the tooth stick that may remain in the mouth of the
fasting person, these should simply be removed as best as possible. The fasting
person should not allow suspicions and misgivings about it to worry him. Many
people go to excesses in this matter and impose upon themselves unnecessary
hardships. For instance, some people go to extremes in removing what remains in
their mouths after br

  Qudsi Hadith: 15

He who loves to meet Allah (by way of death like martyrs) Allah too loves to

  15. Narrated Abu Hurraira (r.a.): Allah's Messenger (s.a.w.s.) said that
Allah the Exalted observed: If My slave loves meeting Me, I too love meeting
him. If he dislikes to meet Me, I too hate to meet him.
(This Hadith is sound and reported by Bukhari and Nasa'i).

This Hadith shows that a Muslim when he thinks of death he hopes to enter
Paradise. So he likes death more or less. But disbelievers fear death because
they do not have belief nor hope for Paradise. The believer who likes Paradise
also likes death to meet Allah Assawajal. As a result, Allah Assawajal likes
meeting him, too.

On which hand and finger should a man wear his silver ring?
-

Answered by Shaykh Muhammad ibn Adam al-Kawthari

http://qa.sunnipath.com/issue_view.asp?id=16290&hd=7&cate=0&t=rss

Q. On which hand and finger should a man wear his silver ring? Can you please
clarify, since some people are saying it is wrong to wear the ring on the left
hand?

A.

In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,

As for which finger, most of the scholars of Hadith and Fiqh are of the opinion
that it is Sunna and recommended for a male, if he chooses to wear a silver
ring, to wear it on his little finger of the hand.

Imam Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him) reports in the chapter pertaining to
clothing and adornment (Kitab al-Libas wa'l Zina) in his Sahih from Sayyiduna
Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "The ring of the
Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) was on this", and he
pointed towards the little finger of his left hand. (Sahih Muslim, no: 2095)

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "The Messenger of Allah
(Allah bless him & give him peace) forbade me that I wear a ring on this or
this finger of mine." The narrator says that he pointed to the middle finger
and the one next to it [i.e. the index finger]." (Sahih Muslim, no: 2078)

Based on the above narrations, the renowned Shafi'i jurist and Hadith scholar,
Imam Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) states:

"Muslim scholars have agreed that it is a Sunna [for men] to wear the ring on
the little finger. As for women, they may wear rings on their various fingers."
(Al-Minhaj sharh Sahih Muslim, P: 1584)

Imam Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) then explains the reason for wearing
the ring on the little finger. He says that the other fingers are more
frequently used when utilizing the hand, whilst the little finger is not so
frequently used due to it being at the corner of the hand. As such, he says, it
is somewhat disliked (makruh tanzih) for a man to wear his silver ring on the
middle and index fingers. (ibid)

In light of the above reasoning given by Imam Nawawi and others, we can add
that the thumb would probably take the same ruling as that of the middle and
index fingers, since the thumb is also frequently used. As for the "ring"
finger, due to it being close to the little finger and also not being
frequently used, one may wear his ring on it.

As for which hand, there are somewhat conflicting reports regarding the
practice of the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace). Some
narrations indicate that he wore his ring on his right hand, whilst others
indicate that he wore it on his left hand.

Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that "the
Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) wore a silver ring on his
right hand which had an Abyssinian stone in it, and he would keep its stone
towards the palm." (Sahih Muslim, no: 2094)

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "The ring of the Messenger
of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) was on this", and he pointed
towards the little finger of his left hand. (Sahih Muslim, no: 2095)

As such, Imam Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) states:

"As for the [legal] ruling in this issue according to the jurists (fuqaha),
they have all agreed upon the permissibility of wearing the ring on the right
hand, and upon the permissibility of wearing it on the left hand, and there is
no dislike (karaha) in wearing the ring on either of the two hands. However,
they disagreed in regards to what is preferred. Many early scholars (salaf)
wore their rings on the right hand, whilst many others wore theirs on the left
hand. Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) considered wearing the ring on
the left hand to be recommended (mustahab) and disliked wearing it on the right
hand. In our [Shafi'i] School, both positions are mentioned by our scholars.
The correct (sahih) opinion is that it is better to wear the ring on the right
hand, for wearing a ring is a form of adornment, and the right hand is more
deserving of this adornment and beautification." (Al-Minhaj sharh Sahih Muslim
ibn al-Hajjaj, P: 1585)

Shaykh Taqi Usmani (may Allah preserve him) explains in his commentary of Sahih
Muslim that most of the narrations indicate that the Messenger of Allah (Allah
bless him & give him peace) wore his ring on his right hand whilst some others
indicate that he wore it on his left hand. Some scholars preferred the latter
narrations whilst others preferred the former. Some scholars reconciled between
the two types of narrations saying that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him
& give him peace) initially wore his ring on the right hand and thereafter
resorted to wearing it on his left hand. The great Master of Hadith (Hafidh),
Ibn Hajar (may Allah have mercy on him) reconciled by stating in his Fath
al-Bari that if the

  FEAR OF ALLAH

  14. Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri (r.a.). He quoted Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.s.)
as saying to his Companions that: a man from among the early people or from
those before you had said a word, i.e. Allah had blessed him with wealth and
sons. When death approached him, he asked his sons: How was I being as a
father? They replied: You were the best father. He said: I didn't save or
perform any good deeds for Allah. If Allah takes possession of me, He will
punish me. So, look! When I am dead, burn me until I become coal then crush me
well and scatter (my ashes in the air) on a stormy day. The Prophet (s.a.w.s.)
said: He took a covenant from his sons (and died). They did according to his
will and spread his ashes in the air on a stormy day. Allah asswajal said: Be
and there he was embodied before Him. Allah, the Exalted, asked him: O my
slave! What induced you to do what you did? He replied: It was Your fear (so
that I may not appear before You). The Prophet (s.a.w.s.) added:
Allah, the Exalted rewarded him with His mercy; the Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said
second time: Allah did not punish him.

(This Hadith is sound and reported by Bukhari and Muslim).

This man was a believer in the Power of Allah assawajal to resurrect, and
punish. His such belief and fear caused him to make that will which led him to
Allah's forgiveness.

The minimum number of rak'ah to be prayed in the supererogatory 'Duha'
(forenoon) prayer is two. The most that the Prophet (s.a.w.s) performed was
eight rak'at, whereas, the most he (s.a.w.s) mentioned was twelve rak'at. Some
eminent scholars, such as Abu Ja'far At-Tabari, Al-Mulaimi, and Ar-Ruwyani, who
subscribes to the Shafi' school of thought, say there is no maximum limit to
the number of rak'at that one may perform for the voluntary 'Duha' prayers.
Al-'lraqi says, in the commentary on Sunan At-Tirmidhi: "None of the
companions of the Prophet (s.a.w.s) or followers are known to have restricted
it to twelve rak'at." As-Syuti agrees with it.
Sa'id ibn Mansur (r.a.) records that al-Hassan (r.a.) was asked: "Did the

"Yes . . . some of them would pray two rak'at, and some of them would pray four

Umm Hani (r.a.) narrates that the Prophet sallallahu 'alehi wa sallam prayed
eight rak'at of 'Duha' and made the taslim after every two rak'at.
  Related by Abu Dawud.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 2.274 Narrated by Abu Huraira (r.a.)
My friend [the Prophet (s.a.w.s)] advised me to do three things and I shall
not leave them till I die, these are: To fast three days every month, to offer
the voluntary Duha prayer, and to offer Witr before sleeping.

In light of the above guidance of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s), it would
be considered a Sunnah to offer the voluntary 'Duha' (forenoon) prayers between
the time the sun has completely risen until it reaches its zenith or meridian
at mid-day. One may offer a minimum of two rakahs, and a maximum of as much as
one wishes.

  Compiled by Shawana Abdul Aziz
Shabaan is the eight month of the Islamic calendar. It falls between two
sacred months, Rajab and Ramadaan. Allah's Messenger (sallallahu alaihi
wa-sallam) used to spend most part of Shabaan by fasting, Imaam Bukharee
(rahimahullah) reports in his Saheeh that Aa'ishah (radhi allahu anha) said:
"The Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) used to fast until we thought he
would never break his fast, and he would not fast until we thought he would
never fast. I never saw the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam)
fasting for an entire month except in Ramadaan, and I never saw him fast more
than he did in Shabaan."
Ibn Rajab (rahimahullah) said: "Fasting in Shabaan is better than fasting in
the sacred months (i.e. Dhul-Qadah, Dhul-Hijjah, Muharram and Rajab - Soorah
Tawbah (9): 36), and the best of voluntary fasts are those that are (observed
in the months) closest to Ramadaan, before or after. The status of these fasts
is like that of al-Sunan al-Rawaatib, which are done before and after fard
(prayers) and which make up for any shortfall in the number of obligatory
prayers. The same applies to fasts observed before and after Ramadaan. Just as
al-Sunan al-Rawaatib are better than other kinds of voluntary prayers, so fasts
observed (in the months) before and after Ramadaan are better than fasts at
other times." [Lataa'if al-Ma'aarif fimaa li Mawaasim al-'Aam min al-Wazaa'if,
by Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali]
When Allah's Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) was asked, why he fasted
so abundantly in the month of Shabaan, he (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said:
'(Shabaan) is a month to which people do not pay attention, between Rajab and
Ramadaan, and it is a month in which deeds are lifted up to the Lord of the
worlds. I like for my deeds to be lifted up when I am fasting." [an-Nisa'ee,
see Saheeh al-Targheeb wa'l-Tarheeb, p. 425] This and other Ahaadeeth of
Allah's Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) encourage performing good deeds
when people are likely to become negligent of Allah's remembrance and worship,
like remembering Allah in the market place, where people get busy in their
dealings and in times of difficulty - Allah's Messenger (sallallahu alaihi
wa-sallam) said: "Worship at times of tribulation (fitnah) is like Hijrah
(migration) to me." [Saheeh Muslim (2984)] The virtue and superiority of
worshiping Allah when people tend to become negligent of Allah's
remembrance is because worship at such times is more difficult than worshiping
Allah when everybody is engaged in the worship.
Fasting in Shabaan serves as training before Ramadaan. However, fasting the
whole month of Shabaan is Makrooh (dislike) and against the Sunnah of Allah's
Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam). Ibn Abbas (radhi allahu anhu) said:
"The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) did not fast any entire
month apart from Ramadaan." [Saheeh al-Bukharee] It is also prohibited to fast
at the end of Shabaan with the intention of not missing the first days of
Ramadaan, except for those who have the habit of fasting regularly and the last
day of Shabaan coincides with a day when the person habitually fasts, those who
are bound by vows or have to make up some obligatory fasts. It is reported in
Saheeh al-Bukharee from Abu Hurayrah (radhi allahu anhu) that the Prophet
(sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: "Do not pre-empt Ramadaan by one or two
days, except for those who have the habit of fasting regularly, in which case
they may fast." [Saheeh al-Bukharee (1983)] Fasting at the
end of Shabaan is prohibited to maintain distinction between the obligatory
and voluntary fasts - it is also a precaution to prevent the people from
falling into the trap of Shaytaan, who persuaded the People of the Book to add
more fasts to that which Allah had made obligatory for them. For this same
reason, it is also prohibited to fast on the 'day of doubt.' A day of doubt is
when people are not sure about the start of Ramadaan, because of cloudy
weather, or some other reason.
15th Shabaan: Is there any reality?

when they stay awake all night and worship Allah. It is believed that anyone

Ahadith Qudsi-Superiority of Monotheism . . . Qudsi Hadith: 11

An example of Allah's Mercy on his slaves

  11. Narrated Abu Huraira (r.a) that Allah's Messenger (s.a.w.s.) said: Allah
says: Whenever My slave intends to do a bad deed, (I say to the deeds recording
angels): Do not record it against him until he (actually) commits it. If he has
done so, write it down exactly as one in his record book. But if he refrains
from it for My sake, write down this as a virtue in his favour. And when he
intends to do a good deed, but does not actually do it, write it as a virtue
for him. And it he puts it into practice, write its reward equal to, from ten
to seven hundred times (in his account).

(This Hadith is sound and reported by Bukhari, Muslim and Tirmidhi).

This above Hadith briefly describes that Allah, if He likes, can forgive even
the most sinner person believing in Oneness of Allah and the Prophet hood of
Muhammad (s.a.w.s.). But it doesn't mean that every one should take it as a
cover and involve himself intentionally in evils relying on the Mercy of Allah.
A good Muslim, who has in his heart fear of Allah, should perform righteous
deeds and avoid sins as per commands laid down in the Qur'an and Hadith.

Ahadith Qudsi-Superiority of Monotheism

One whose intention is not pure will deserve Hell. Purity of intention is
essential in all deeds.

  7. Narrated Abu Huraira (r.a.): I heard Allah's Messenger (s.a.w.s.) saying:

The first of the people whose case will be decided on the Day of Judgment
will be a man who died as a martyr. He will be brought forth. Allah will make
him know about His blessings (Which He had bestowed on him in the world). The
man will acknowledge them. Then Allah will ask him: What did you do with them?
He will say: I fought in Your way until I died as a martyr. Allah will remark:
You are lying. You fought so that you may be called a brave warrior. Then
orders will be passed against him. So he will be dragged along on his face and
cast into Hell.

Second will be a man who studied (religious) knowledge. Then he taught it to
others and recited the Qur'an. He will be brought (for judgment). Allah will
remind him of His favours (showered on him in the world). He will admit them
(having enjoyed them in his life). Then Allah will ask him: What did you do
with them? He will reply: I acquired knowledge and imparted it and also recited
the Qur'an for Your sake. Allah will observe: You have told a lie, for you got
knowledge to be renowned as a scholar; and you recited the Qur'an to be marked
as Qari (one who recites the Qur'an according to the rules). Then orders will
be passed against him. So he will be dragged along on his face and thrown into
Hell.

Third will be a man to whom Allah had made abundantly rich and granted him
every kind of wealth. He will be brought for Judgment. Allah will let him know
about His gifts conferred upon him in the world. He will recognize them. Then
Allah will inquire: What did you with them? He will say: I left no way in which
You like money to be spent without spending in it for Your sake. Allah will
say:  You are lying, You did so to be described as generous (in the society);
(It means you got your reward in the world according to your intention). Now
you deserve nothing in the Hereafter except Hell). So orders will be passed
against him and he will be dragged along on his face until he will be hurled
into Hell.

(This Hadith is sound and reported by Muslim and Nasa'i)

The purity of intention is behind any deed. If you spend for show, there is
no reward. Eventually, if one loves another for something worldly this shall
not count in the Hereafter. But love for the sake of Allah Assawajal is great
virtue in the Hereafter. Such love can be a Muslim's love to learn from him or
to take as a companion for good deeds, without any worldly considerations, once
there is something worldly, the intention is not pure.
