Google to Launch New Calendar Service *Thu Apr 13, 12:59 AM ET* Google Inc., the top online search engine, is unveiling a calendar service that allows users to store appointments online, receive reminders about them and share those plans with others. The offering, available starting Thursday at http://www.google.com/calendar, is designed to make it easy for users to add entries, said Carl Sjogreen, product manager for Google Calendar. Gmail, Google's mail service, has been modified to automatically recognize when messages mention an event so recipients can seamlessly add it to their calendar. Users can also add entries in simple text, such as Coffee with Mom on Sunday at 11 a.m. at Cafe La Boheme, eliminating the need to fill out forms. Google Calendar is the latest offering from the Mountain View-based company, which analysts have said is gradually replacing its search-only business model with that of a portal, or all-purpose Web site. Over the past four years, Google has been catching up to rivals Yahoo Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO - news) and Microsoft Corp.'s MSN by adding e-mail, news, photo sharing, instant messaging, shopping and mapping services and a finance section. Sjogreen said the calendar service is consistent with Google's oft-stated mission of helping people organize the world's data and make it accessible and useful. The new service gives Google fuel as it competes against Yahoo, which has offered a calendar service since 1998 and in October acquired Upcoming.org, an event planning site. A feature that allows users of Google Calendar to send invitations and manage guest lists also helps the company take on Evite.com, the online invitation service owned by IAC/InterActiveCorp. Google also stands to profit from the calendar and other services, which help keep users moored at its own site instead of sending them to other places on the Web. That gives Google more chances to serve users adds, which account for most of its profits. Asal volume lain nggak mau... CMIIW Pengalaman saya, virus udah clear, tapi registry masih belum diperbaiki (masih ada bekas2 brontok yang masih tinggal disana). Jadinya ya... begitu. Folder option ga kliatan. Untuk itu coba diperbaiki lagi registrynya. Tapi ga bisa pake regedit nya windows. Nanti pasti restart sendiri. Jadi harus diperbaiki pake software registry edit lain. hallo Bu Hanie, sekedar masukan aja. Sistem Proteksi terhadap Virus, tidak hanya cukup menggunakan Antivirus. kalo ditempat kerja saya sih, 1. Windows di Update (ada Patch update yang di implement, sehingga OS Windows juga lebih kuat). 2. Pattern Antivirus selalu di Update, kalo mbak Hanie pake Norton, bisa didownload tiap minggu. Memang tidak ada garansi aman 100%, Norton dan Microsoftpun juga nggak bakalan bisa garansi 100%. Karena untuk terkena serangan Virus itu memang sangat besar kemungkinannya, tapi minimal dengan di Update Windows dan Pattern Antivirus, bisa meminimalkan terjangan Virus. Coba di check dulu pak. Hal seperti ini bisa beberapa sebab : 1. Dari sisi Windowsnya, waktu Install ada yang rusak, Saya pernah alami setelah saya install ulang beres. 2. Dari sisi Hardwarenya, biasa Motherboardnya, saya juga pernah alami, setelah ganti motherboard beres. Kebetulan masih garansi sih. Saya pakai Win XP SP 2 tidak ada masalah. Saya sudah install Wingate untuk Proxy Server. ( contoh saya kasih IP : 192.168.0.3 ) Bagaimana agar Client hanya bisa melewati proxy untuk akses internet. Konfigurasi yang ada saat ini : Client - Hub - Router- Internet. Kemarin saya coba Intenet Optionsnya saya arahkan ke proxy, sudah bisa hanya yang belum diarahkan ke proxy ya masih bisa langsung ke Internet juga. Mohon pencerahanya. Terimakasih. Hmmm... gemana nerangin hubungannya ya yang jelas itu memang berhubungan kok. singkatnya gini pak, VGA external biasanya punya bios sendiri dan ini juga nyambung ke bios yang ada di motherboard (apalagi yang memang onboard). Untuk kasus ini ada dua macam. (biasanya yang saya hadapi) pertama cpu hidup dan ga nampilin apa-apa. yang ada cuma out of sign melayang-layang di tampilan monitor. ini cukup dengan mereset bios. maka tampilan akan normal lagi (biasanya balik ke default). yang kedua, cpu hidup, monitor mengeluarkan tampilan POST lalu masuk ke proses load driver windows. Begitu masuk ke GUI windows, tampilan langsung acak-acakan atau gelap sama sekali tanpa tampilan atau juga tampil tulisan out of sign itu. Kalo masalah kedua, gampang. Setelah POST, pencet F8 terus-terusan supaya windows bisa masuk ke safe mode. ganti resolusinya. terus restart. Biasanya beres. dan setting monitor balik lagi ke default. tapi, memang tanpa eksperimen memang ga akan ketahuan bener atau ga nya. baiknya dicoba aja deh. dan ... kalo salah. namanya juga manusia Yanurmal [EMAIL PROTECTED] menulis: Resolusi ketinggian kok reset BIOS? Ngggak nyambung pak. Yang ngatur resolusi itu software (windows sama drivernya) bukan hardware. gini bapak/ibu2 sekalian : Kalo di SQUID kan bisa user kalo mo ngakses internet dia harus dia musti masukin Username ma Password dulu. Nah kalo hal semacam itu mau saya implementasikan di perangkat Wireless ( W.Router/AP) mungkin gak? kalao mungkin alat (w.router/AP) yang mendukung hal semacam itu ( yang ekonomis tapi ). = Itu dual hal yang berbeda Pak IMHO. Wireless itu menggantikan kabel, dan wireless bisa pake proxy. Solusinya, aktifkan WEP/WPA, jadi user tidak bisa login kalo ga tau passphrase-nya. Jeleknya, ga bisa zero config. Atau pake sistem billing, jadi tiap kali user konek akan di-redirect ke web khusus untuk login (username dan pass bisa digenerate oleh billing sistem atau ditentukan sebelumnya). Biasanya, Anda juga bisa tentukan walled garden-nya. Alternatif lain lagi adalah dengan melimit MAC Address. Feature ini umum di router wireless. Jadi hanya user yang punya MAC Address ttt yang bisa konek (or bisa juga nge-ban MAC tertentu). Tapi MAC kan bisa di-spoof ya hehee.. jadi cara ini kurang disarankan. Cara di atas hanya untuk membatasi user yang bisa login ke jaringan... tapi untuk Internet, ya kalo dia lewat squid/firewall macam ISA server ya otomatis akan di-autentifikasi lagi sesuai dengan policy firewall- nya.
