Re: [JAWS-Users] Moving pane in Excel?
Hi, May be You can use Excel goto command, ctrl+g. ctrl+g, a1 - go to cell a1 ctrl+g, a1:g100 - select cells from a1 to g100 ctrl+g, move with tab key to special button, spacebar, select with arrow keys what you need, for example Visible cells = select visible cells. May be you can use alt+page up or alt+ page down (move one screen left or right) or page up or page down - move one screen up or down. hth Artur ctrl+g, - Original Message - From: Dale Leavens [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Sunday, September 30, 2007 7:45 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Moving pane in Excel? If on the other hand, you do not care if the information is visible or not, but you want JAWS to speak the Row and Column titles then do this: 1 Place your cursor to the left of the first Column title and above the first Row Column. Re: [JAWS-Users] Icons in Folders on Desktop
Hi all: We finally got it figured out. Instead of cutting and pasting I needed to copy and paste. My friend called with the solution. We went into the Icons folder and copied the programs I wanted shortcuts to and pasted them onto the Desktop, went into properties reassigned shortcut keys, then deleted the programs out of the Icons folder. Everything is fine now. Now, on to see what else I can screw up. It worked except the resulting irritating jaws chatter. I have a feeling that it not a jaws problem, but something that has to do with what in the computer makes jaws work. At the beginning of this extract there was some dialog box about a skuzzy - sorry not sure of the spelling of that, being desperate, I pressed OK. What might I do to get my old jaws back? [JAWS-Users] Braille display and Jaws 8
I have three computers running Jaws 8, one desktop, and two laptops. I decided to use my Pacmate display on one of the laptops. I went in under utilities and opened up the display window. On the other two machines I've done this with, there's a pick for the PM display. On this particular machine though, there's only one pick, and it's for no display. Now, I have never synced my pacmate with this particular laptop. Do I need to do that to get the drivers to appear, or is there some other way to get them. Thanks. Re: [JAWS-Users] combo box question
Hi, Russel. I also find map quest really easy to use. One of my sisters told me about it two years ago and I had no problem finding directions to where I wanted to go. Mom and I were going to a Christmas party at a friend's house so I was able to get the directions for her so she could take us. I had the directions emailed to myself and then printed them out for her. Rosemarie - Original Message - From: Russell J. I find it one of the easiest sites to use with JAWS. In fact, it appears that they made changes in the site to make it more jaws friendly. If you want directions from one place to another, go on to mapquest.com, hit insert 7 to get a list of links; when you hear directions or driving directions, hit enter. Then you go to a page where you fill out a form as to where you are and where you want to go. It will ask for address, state, city and zip code. Once you go into insert mode, fill in this data in each box and hit the tab key to go from box to box. After you fill in where you are, there is some other information that you can ignore if you want; simply scroll down until you get to the same type of fill-in boxes for where you want to go. After you fill in those fields, there is more information you probably don't care about. There is also some advertising (remember this is free, so they have to run ads. Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS version 8.0.422U quitsspeakingatsecurityscreen
Carrie, we have the same problem at FedEx. If the system goes into Security, suddenly you have no voice We don't have to shut down our systems but there's an automatic function which will send the computer into a Screen Saver mode if you don't type for more than 20 minutes. I think that's what you mean, isn't it?. Here are a couple of things we tried. 1. Remove Jaws from the System Tray. That seems to make it less apt to shut down or lock out. 2. We found that shutting down Jaws helps. Then, all you do is press Control Alt J if your system is set up for that and it will usually boot up and talk ieven in the Security screen. I don't think the problem is Jaws Carrie. The system will shut down all programs including Jaws and retain only the Screen Saver or Security screen as you called it. The programs aren't really shut down, they're just blocked temporarily. I wish that there was some way to remove that blasted thing completely. Eric, we can't get rid of it if it's anything like the FedEx system. That just isn't an option. Calling the Support team yielded no effective results at all. Most of them weren't familiar with the kind of problem we're having. As I said earlier, I don't think it's Jaws completely. The Security system tends to stop all programs except the one which shows the Screen Saver mode and the message about pressing Control Alt Delete to re-start the computer. Then a password is requested. Sorry my friend, but your Support people were quite lost with this problem. [JAWS-Users] Help with reading text with Acrobat Reader
Hi. I've never really had any luck with PDF documents, but now I have no choice. I'm going to install the latest version of Acrobat Reader, but I'll need to know if there are specific settings I will have to make so it will be JAWS friendly. My understanding was it could be made to be so with some accessibility settings somewhere? Also, is there a way to save it as text? That would even be better. Any possible way I can save a PDF file and read it, as well as copy and paste from it, will work. I'll have some PDF documents that I must read and then copy into a Word document for a college class this week. In fact, by Tuesday. I need a crash course in this because this is very last minute and I'm forced to do research via PDF documents from my college's data base. Keep in mind I know virtually nothing about how to use Acrobat Reader, but it's high time I learn. Thanks, Chris Feist - The one and only!
