If in your recycle bin try and open the bin, arrow down to the item and hit
the application key, the first item that comes up is 'restore' hit enter on
that. Repeat for each item in the bin you want to restore or mark all the
items at once and 'restore'. This will put the items back in the same place
that they were before the delete. I have not tried that with items like
outlook folders but should work probably the same.

Re: [JAWS-Users] folder options in vista

2009-07-20 Thread Brian Lee

Hello Elaine,

I have been away from the computer for a few days so I haven't been
following this topic after writing my post to John. However, I am quite
sure that the initial question was how to get the size of a folder (not
file) showing on the status bar in Vista. Of course, the information is
available in the properties, and Vista does show file size on the status
bar, but the folder size is not shown on the status bar by default in Vista,
so just using the JAWS key with the numlock page down key doesn't
immediately give the folder size. If mouse tips are turned on then the
folder size is given when using an arrow key to move across the item.
Hovering a mouse over a folder name gives the size of the folder, but JAWS
doesn't speak it without mouse tips announcing turned on. Vista will give
an individual file size on the status bar but not a folder size. The
properties dialog will certainly show the size of the folder as it did in
XP, but again, I think the original question was how to see a folder's size
on the status bar.

Take care.

hi John

this is very strange as I have just found folder size in the context menu.

I haven't changed any folder options at all for vista.

all I did was hit apps key on the folder, up arrowed to properties, routed
jaws to pc and read the screen.

jaws announced folder size like it did with xp.

sorry John, I've no ideas how to get this information other than to
attempt to set all folders back to default.

for burning disks, I use a free program called burn aware. this tells you
the files size as you add files or folders. it wont let you add any more
than the disk will hold.

it's easy to use as you only have to tab to the boxes and add data using
menus.

A few months ago I switched from XP to Vista, and thought I had imported
all my normal settings. Now when I open a folder with multiple mp3 files
in it, when I do an insert3, I hear the number of files in the folder, and
free space remaining on the disc, but not the total sise of the folder,
which I like to know prior to burning this to a cd. If I select one of
the mp3 files , I do get the size of that specific file. I have made
sure the file size in the view tab of the folder options menu is checked
for the folder, as well as the file size in the choose details option in
the view menu.On XP I would get a total size for the folder as well as
each specific file in the status bar. Any idea what I have done wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Also, if using Windows XP SP2 or later, .dbx backups are created (and put in
the Recycle Bin) every time OE compats messages and folders. Those .dbx
files can be put back in place of lost or damaged .dbx files, if necessary.
As another lister observed, a System Restore might do the trick quite
neatly.

[JAWS-Users] OE addressbook

2009-07-20 Thread Becky B
Hi all.
I'm using XP with JFW 10. Why does OE require that an email address be in
your addressbook before you can send an email to that address.

If you want to reply directly to someone posting to a list, OE wants you to
put that email address in your addressbook before it will send the email.
Good way to clutter up your addressbook.

My complaint for the day.

Hello David,

You don't have to remove earlier versions and you can even update
from
within your presently installed skype's update menu option.

The advantage not to uninstall previous version first, is that all
your
present skype settings, or almost all, are transferred as is and you
don't have to re-enter your profile.

However, I still find 3.8 less cumbersome to use than version 4,
even

with the scripts and scripts are also out for 4.1, but the last time
I
heard, 4.1 was still a beta, although improved on version 4.

Did you also press the spacebar on any of those checkboxes, to try to change
the state, rather than just taking your neighbour's workd for it? There
should also have been an error on-screen with windows loaded indicating if a
sound card driver could not be loaded if that is the problem.

You'll need to have someone sighted more expert look at your computer
screen. If you could load into Safe Mode, and follow any prompts, that
might help. (For that you will need sighted assistance.)

Once you connect with vtuner, pres the letter c. This will put you in to
the first combo box. Press c again, and you will be shown another combo

the first choice for that combo box. Press alt down arrow at the same time.

This enables you to access all the choices in the combo box. Choose the one

you want. and press enter. Press the insert or Jaws key and enter at the
same time twice. You will be shown how many stations were found. Choose
the station you want. Arrow down to play. You can use the jaws feature to
move to that link. This is only an option. As you can activate the play
link from vtuner itself, which is the Jaws key, insert f 7, tab once to move

to link. You can press the applications key to the left of the control key
on the rite side of your keyboard, and arrow down to save target as. You
can download this shortcut to the station to wherever you want on your

Re: [JAWS-Users] internet radio and music web sites

2009-07-20 Thread angel238
I said in my post I used USB head phones. Jaws is recognized as a second
sound card if such are employed. Thereby making it possible to listen, or
record while doing other things on the computer. The volume on the head
phones can be adjusted independently of the speaker volume. They can be
gotten with a microphone included for about 30 dollars from Radio Shack.
There were those on the list who thought that was a less than desirable
choice. They suggested the volume be adjusted from within the player from
which you chose to listen. This can be done as well. If you are using real
player you can use the arrow keys to adjust the volume, while f 8 lowers
volume and f 9 raises it. If you want the muting of sound altogether this
can be accomplished by using f 7. I don't use win amp. So I don't know the
key strokes for that player. I trust this post has assisted you. I am
happy you found vtuner useful.

computer. I hope this helps. There are perhaps easier ways to do the
same
thing, but, this is how I do it. You can save these short cuts and use
them

in future without going to the site itself.

Greetings,
It was really great to finally hear from someone about my question
concerning internet radio. The Info you sent me sound very exciting and
very
intresting! I took your advice and went to the web site you suggested and
wam'o, VTuner Live Internet radio broadcast from around the world. Now,
I'm
really excited about this site you have shared with me, now I just need
you
to give me a few key strokes to navigate the page. You see I am some what
a
rookie when it comes to navigating jaws and the internet. So, maybe you
can
give me a nudge in the right direction, and then maybe I can make it the
rest of the way on my own. Thanks in advance. Blue skies and green
lights!
