2009-07-21 Thread tim

ok, sense no one has answered this. i will at last.
you can merge from lower versions to higher, but not the other way
around. This is, because the higher version may have a element or
function that is not recognized by the lower version. Witch would
give you script errors.

Correct Kimmie.
When you use "Restore" from the Recycle Bin, the folders go back exactly
where they were before. There are no alternatives. I'd recommend restoring
everything, then starting all over again.
Somewhere on here, one of our list members sent along a very extensive set
of instructions for servicing Outlook Express. I'm not sure, but they might
be on the list's home page.

That I don't know. With regualr folders they usually go back automatically
to the original location.
I just found this tutorial in a mail forum, you may want to give ita try.
Have not checked to see if this will work as I'd hate to mess with my
outlook setup but since the damage was done already it can't hurt to try:

Explore to the Local Settings folder for your identity, then Application
Data - Identites The location for the settings folder is: Documents and
Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities.
There will be several folders with #'s for names with subfolders Microsoft -
Outlook Express. Once you find the one with your e-mails. MOVE, Delete or
Rename the Folders.dbx file. The next time you open OE it will rebuild the
folders list (and the missing links). You'll have to re-sort everything, but
the missing folder should show up.

As always, use at your own risk, hope this helps

If in your recycle bin try and open the bin, arrow down to the item and hit
the application key, the first item that comes up is 'restore' hit enter on
that. Repeat for each item in the bin you want to restore or mark all the
items at once and 'restore'. This will put the items back in the same place
that they were before the delete. I have not tried that with items like
outlook folders but should work probably the same.

With most commands, JAWS uses the INSERT key as a "modifier" key. INSERT
is pressed in combination with other keys to activate commands. JAWS now
lets you choose which key to use for this modifier, which we call the JAWS
Key.

The keys available to use are:

INSERT

CAPS LOCK

SCROLL LOCK

By default, the INSERT key is set as the JAWS Key in the Desktop keyboard
layout, and the CAPS LOCK key is set as the JAWS key in the Laptop
keyboard layout. So you can change the JAWS Key in two ways. Change to a
different keyboard layout, or change which JAWS key is assigned in a
keyboard layout.

Changing the Keyboard Layout

To change the keyboard layout, from the JAWS application window, press
ALT+O to open the Options menu and pres ENTER to open the Basic Settings
dialog.

TAB to the Keyboard Layout combo box and use the arrow keys to select the
layout you wish to use.

Assigning a Different JAWS Key

To change the key used as the JAWS key for the active keyboard layout:

From the JAWS application window, press ALT+U to open the Utilities menu.

Select Configuration Manager and press ENTER.

Press ALT+S, K to open Keyboard options.

TAB to the JAWS Key radio buttons and select the key you want to use as
the modifier key for the active keyboard layout.

Note: MAGic allows you to select which key is used as the MAGic Key.
Since JAWS now provides the same flexibility for the JAWS Key, when the
two products are used together, it is important that the MAGic Key and the
JAWS key are not assigned to the same key. If they are assigned to the
same key, any JAWS commands assigned to a key combination using the JAWS
Key are not activated when the key combination is pressed

Hi all.
I'm using XP with JFW 10. Why does OE require that an email address be in
your addressbook before you can send an email to that address.

If you want to reply directly to someone posting to a list, OE wants you
to

put that email address in your addressbook before it will send the email.
Good way to clutter up your addressbook.

My complaint for the day.

: Hi list,
: for the past week or so, I have had an unusual issue with Jaws. For
example, whenever I launch Internet Explorer. Jaws announces "favorites". I
don't think I remember it ever doing this before. In addition, when I open a
webpage. I usually use insert numpad 3 to read the status line. This lets me
know how many items on the page are left to download. However, what Jaws
tends to do now, is read out a couple of my favorites. However, if I do in
fact want to access my favorites. I still need to use control I to bring up
my favorites list. Has anyone else experienced this? I am using XP home, IE7
and Jaws 10. Would upgrading to IE8 be of any help? It is sitting in my
system tray. But I have been cautious about installing it.

Importantly here, files that were deleted i.e. put into the Recycle Bin -
including .dbx files, between the Restore point (a restored time point) and
now, will be restored to where they were at that time. A System Restore is
just one step among a couple more that may be needed, unfortunately. It
wouldn't be my first resort for this type of problem. I think I and a few
others have outlined or described alternative, more directly relevant,
procedures.

System Restore is designed to restore system files, including programs, back
to a particular date when perhaps it was working. User files like documents,
e-mails, internet history, will not be affected.

If you are going that route: If you aren't happy with the results, there is
the option to undo your last restore, which does just that and brings you
back to where you were before you did the system restore. Pick a recent
date/time, that is, one just before you made the mistaken deletion.

Well that would depend. If you say uninstalled JAWS then did a system
restore JAWS will be back on as your system was reverted to a date when JAWS
was present. Same is true if you installed JAWS but you then reverted to a
date where JAWS wasn't present.

Hello there. Now this is going to be tricky to explain, but I had a eror
message come up, and although I went into the maintenance folder to fix it,
I am now kicking myself, because I hav deleted some of my folders in outlook
express. I thought that if I deleted the bdx folders, I'd be alright, but
now I find that having done that, I've actually deleted all my folders. They
are still in my recycle bin and they're all bdx folders, is there a way to
retrieve them again. I did put them back, but can't find any of my files I
put in outlook express. Heck! I'm sure I've confused you all, but I can't
think of a better way to explain what I did. I guess what I could be asking
is, can I retrieve my folders back even though they're all bdx folders, and
if so, how can I open them again. Whew I hope I've made sense. Kimmie.

Re: [JAWS-Users] problem with Jaws announcing favourites when notmeantto

2009-07-21 Thread jason smith

Hi John,
already tried that. But all I get is a bit of a bong noise. I usually can
also just press escape, and that takes me back to google. But now I am
having to alt F4 out of it altogether. And like I said, when I open a
webpage, control numpad 3 is reporting my favorites rather than the status
line. I am wondering if this problem is the reason why pages are so slow
loading now, and Jaws seems sluggish on some pages too?

Do you or anyone else have any suggestions?

Hi list,
for the past week or so, I have had an unusual issue with Jaws. For
example,

whenever I launch Internet Explorer. Jaws announces "favorites". I don't
think I remember it ever doing this before. In addition, when I open a
webpage. I usually use insert numpad 3 to read the status line. This lets
me

know how many items on the page are left to download. However, what Jaws
tends to do now, is read out a couple of my favorites. However, if I do in
fact want to access my favorites. I still need to use control I to bring
up
my favorites list. Has anyone else experienced this? I am using XP home,
IE7

and Jaws 10. Would upgrading to IE8 be of any help? It is sitting in my
system tray. But I have been cautious about installing it.

Thanks Jason

Well that would depend. If you say uninstalled JAWS then did a system
restore JAWS will be back on as your system was reverted to a date when JAWS
was present. Same is true if you installed JAWS but you then reverted to a
date where JAWS wasn't present.

Hello there. Now this is going to be tricky to explain, but I had a eror
message come up, and although I went into the maintenance folder to fix
it,
I am now kicking myself, because I hav deleted some of my folders in
outlook

express. I thought that if I deleted the bdx folders, I'd be alright, but
now I find that having done that, I've actually deleted all my
folders.They
are still in my recycle bin and they're all bdx folders, is there a way
to

retrieve them again. I did put them back, but can't find any of my files I
put in outlook express. Heck! I'm sure I've confused you all, but I can't
think of a better way to explain what I did. I guess what I could be
asking
is, can I retrieve my folders back even though they're all bdx folders,
and

if so, how can I open them again. Whew I hope I've made sense. Kimmie.

[JAWS-Users] problem with Jaws announcing favourites when not meant to

2009-07-21 Thread jason smith
Hi list,
for the past week or so, I have had an unusual issue with Jaws. For example,
whenever I launch Internet Explorer. Jaws announces "favorites". I don't think
I remember it ever doing this before. In addition, when I open a webpage. I
usually use insert numpad 3 to read the status line. This lets me know how many
items on the page are left to download. However, what Jaws tends to do now, is
read out a couple of my favorites. However, if I do in fact want to access my
favorites. I still need to use control I to bring up my favorites list. Has
anyone else experienced this? I am using XP home, IE7 and Jaws 10. Would
upgrading to IE8 be of any help? It is sitting in my system tray. But I have
been cautious about installing it.

Thanks Jason
