Re: [JAWS-Users] Pop3 settings for hotmail

2010-01-18 Thread David. chatten-smith

try this it worked for me.
Add a Hotmail POP3 account in Outlook Express

Important

There are a few differences between DAV and POP3. For example, if you read
an e-mail message in Outlook Express, the message still displays as unread
in

your Hotmail account on the web. Also, only messages in your Hotmail inbox
appear in Outlook Express. Other folders, and any messages in them, aren't
shown.

list of 10 items

1. In Outlook Express, on the Tools menu, click Accounts.

2. Click Add, and then click Mail.

3. Type your name, and then click Next.

4. Type your full Hotmail e-mail address, and then click Next.

5. Enter the following information, and then click Next:

list of 3 items nesting level 1

. In the My incoming mail server is a list, click POP3.

. In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server box, type smtp.live.com

. In the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server box, type pop3.live.com.

list end nesting level 1

6. Type the account name and the password for your Hotmail account. Clear
the Remember password check box unless you're the only person with access to
the

computer. Make sure that the Log on using Secure Password Authentication
(SPA) check box isn't selected.

7. Click Next, and then click Finish.

8. In the Internet Accounts window, click the Mail tab, click the Hotmail
account that you added, and then click Properties.

9. Click the Advanced tab, and under Server Port Numbers, enter the
following information, and then click OK:

list of 4 items nesting level 1

. In the Incoming mail (POP3) box, type 995.

. In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) box, type 25 or 587.

. Under both Outgoing mail (SMTP) and Incoming mail (POP3), select the This
server requires a secure connection (SSL) check box.

. Under Delivery, select the Leave a copy of messages on server check box if
you want to see your messages when you use Hotmail on the web, on your
mobile

phone, or in another e-mail program. By default, Outlook Express deletes the
messages from the Hotmail server after downloading them to your computer.

list end nesting level 1

10. Click Close.

Re: [JAWS-Users] UPDATING PROBLEM WITH JAWS

2010-01-18 Thread Chris Hallsworth
Do you have a license for JAWS 11? If you are unsure contact Freedom
Scientific or your local JAWS distributor, or go to www.fsactivate.com
and verify the number of keys you have on your installation. What I
think Al didn't mention is that even if you are running JAWS 11 as a 40
minute demo, you can still update JAWS through the check for updates
feature. Also, there is no demo version anymore; it's the same package
and you can choose whether to run as demo or proceed to activate your
license. If using a dongle license, simply inserting your dongle will be
enough to activate your license. Although for Windows 7 users they will
need to update the drivers for their dongle before JAWS recognizes the
dongle.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook

2010-01-18 Thread Patti
Thanks Grant for helping me on this.
Question how do you get to the list of people that you put in your address
book?
I have 2 folders, 1 outlook's contact, and contact. I've highlighted one and
tab and it says nothing there, but I know I have some email addresses in
there.

How do you make another address folder?
I want to make 3 other address book list folders.
Patti
How are you changing folders? If you're using the tree view in Outlook's
main window to select a folder, you need to move to the desired folder with
arrow keys, then press ENTER to select it. You can then press TAB to move to
the message list. For example, suppose you're in the inbox, and you enter
the tree view of folders and scroll to Sent items, but don't press ENTER.
The selection will not have changed, so you will still be focussed in the
inbox.

With that in mind, Outlook stores sent mail in the Sent items folder by
default, and deleted mail in the deleted items folder.

An easy way to make a new contact in Outlook is to push CTRL+SHIFT+C. You'll
land in a blank contact. Use TAB and SHIFT+TAB to move through the fields;
edit them as you normally would (by typing, using arrows, backspace, etc.).
Hit CTRL+S to save when you're done, then ALT+F4 to close the contact.

If someone has sent you an Email, and you want to easily add them to your
contact list, open the message by moving to it in the message list and
pressing ENTER. Now use SHIFT+TAB until you're in the from field, and
press LEFT ARROW once to make sure you're focussed on the person's name
(JAWS should announce this). Now open the context menu, either by using the
context menu key or by pressing SHIFT+F10, and pick Add to Outlook
Contacts. You'll once again be in the contact editor, and you can TAB and
SHIFT+TAB to move through the fields, but some of them will already be
filled in for you.

Hope this helps!

Grant

Re: [JAWS-Users] Pop3 settings for hotmail

2010-01-18 Thread David Griffith
It may well work for you but this will be because of your ISP allowing these
settings to work.
Many internet service providers will block emails sent through their servers
unless it is under one of their account names. So for example if you
have a BT Internet or Wannadoo contract in the UK you will not be able to
send emails under smtp unless it is under an email address set up by them.
Receiving emails is completely unproblematic.

Personally I regard this restriction as unwarranted and wish the regulators
would force the ISPs to allow us freedom to use all email accounts to send
as well as receive emails.

David Griffith

Re: [JAWS-Users] Question about opening a pdf document.

2010-01-18 Thread Russell J. Thomas, Jr.

If you open a PDF document with Adobe, you can read the document but if you
save it, the only option in adobe is to save it as an unformatted text file.

If you open it with conversion software, you can save it as a word document,
or in any other format allowed by the conversion software.

If you read the document in adobe, once you close it, the document returns
to its original PDF formatting.

If you open a pdf document, and it can't be read, you will read
unrecognizable letters or symbols; when you close it, the document will
return to its original PDF formatting.

Hey Gang,

How do I make the link in an email work?

How do I shut off the size of an email?

How do I see who is in my address book?

Using windows 7, outlook 11, Jaws 11, and IE 8.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Don't want to hear the word Link

2010-01-18 Thread brianllee
Hello Vicky,

Here is a workaround that you might try, although it is not a JAWS solution.
If you use CTRL+A to select all text in the document and then use CTRL+shift+f9
you will unlink all fields. After doing so if you use the SayAll command you
will only here the text. Again, this is a Word change, so if you want to keep
linked fields in the document then be sure to use the undo command when
finished hearing the text.

I suppose you could go into HTML options in the configuration manager and
uncheck all boxes relating to links, but that would be quite a process to go
through each time you want to change between hearing links and not hearing
them.

Some one else might have a JAWS method for doing the function you are trying to
do, but selecting all and then using CTRL+shift+f9 will unlink fields so you
can read only the text.

Take care.

Hi folks, When I copy something from the internet, I would like to have JAWS
read it uninterrupted in Word.

Do any of you, know what I need to change in my JAWS Say All parameters?

I am using Jaws 10.54, Word 2007 and XP service pack 3.

Many thanks for any help! Vicky

Re: [JAWS-Users] more outlook questions

2010-01-18 Thread Brian Lee
Hello Patti,

I am using Outlook 2007, which is actually Outlook 12. However, I am quite
sure the steps for performing the functions you asked about are the same if
you use Outlook 11.

How do I make the link in an email work?

You can list links using insert with F7 and press enter on the link you want
to activate. If that doesn't work you can try tabbing to the link and
pressing enter key. If those methods don't work you should move the cursor
directly on to the link, press application key and arrow down to the open
link choice. Press enter on that choice.

How do I shut off the size of an email?

1. Press Alt+V to bring up the view menu.

2. Use down arrow to the arrange by choice and use right arrow into the
submenu.

3. In Word 2007 the menu choice for custom is in that submenu. Again,
not being at a system with Outlook 11 on it I don't remember if the custom
choice is in that submenu or in the current view submenu. If it is not in
the submenu of arrange by then use right arrow at the current view
choice and check its submenu for the custom choice. Press enter key to
bring up the custom dialog.

4. Press spacebar on the fields button.

5. Use tab key a few times and you will find a list box of available items.
Continue to use tab key until you find the show these fields in this order
list.

6. Use down arrow key until you select the received choice.

7. Use shift+tab to the remove button and press spacebar. This will put
the received item back into the available fields list.

8. Use tab key to the OK button and press spacebar. Continue to use OK if
necessary to close dialog boxes.

The location of the controls might be slightly different with Outlook 11 but
you should find them quite easily.

How do I see who is in my address book?

In Outlook you can use CTRL+3 to move directly into your contacts list.
Outlook uses contacts as your main address book. Use the keystroke when
focus is in a list of messages in an open folder.

Let me know if the above steps are not the same for your version of Outlook,
and if that is the case I'll check a system at work tomorrow that has the
earlier version of Outlook installed.

Take care.
