[JAWS-Users] question about upgrading IE and jaws.

2010-04-10 Thread Mich
Hi all. I am running IE 6 and jaws 7.0 on a windows xp home pc. I have the
following questions. I know that IE 6 is no longer being supported by sights
like youtube and a lot of others. I have found that when I go to a lot of web
pages it says can't find server etc. My question then is this. If I wanted to
upgrade IE Witch version should I upgrade to and would this mien that I would
have to upgrade my jaws as well? I think it would but I am just not sure. and
right now I don't have 3 or 400 dollars to fork over to fs for the upgrade.
Right now IE 6 and jaws 7 are working fine for me, and you know the old saying
if it isn't broke then don't fix it. but it was just a question that I had so
I figured that I would ask it hear. many thanks. from Mich.

Hi Joe, I'm only using Jaws 10, but when I have troubles with buttons, I
route Jaws cursor to PC cursor and do a left mouse click. That seems to
work most times. Good luck. - Shari

Hi All, Recently after selecting a number of items and placing them in my
shopping cart, when I pressed the spacebar on the "check out" button
nothing happened. I then tried "enter" and again nothing. Both presses
just brought me to the top of the page. I'm using the latest version of
JAWS 11 and XPSP3. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I can
try? Thanks.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Setting Up XP Desktop to Classic for JAWS

2010-04-10 Thread Hans Pauli Sundstein
Hi there.

Probably i have a solution for you.
Go to Windows Explorer, and be on the root of the drive C:
Go to the Tools menu, and activate the folder settings.
Go to the view tab, and tab to the tree view, and arrow down to "Hide hidden
system files" which is on, and change it's status to Off, by pressing the
spacebar.
Tab to ok, and press enter.
Now you are shown a lot of files more than before, and be not frustrated
over that.
Most common is, that, you now can see the folder "RECYCLER" on the root of
your drive C:, and it's you'r Recycle Bin.

Now go to the folder "Documents and Settings", and open it, afterwards open
the folder "All users" and than the folder "Desktop".
Now press your Applications key, just to the left for your right ctrl key,
and arrow down to "New" and press enter, and than select "Shortcut".
If you are using a Laptop without an Applications key on it, so press
shift+f10 instead, arrow down to "New" and press enter, and select
"Shortcut", and now follow the rest of the instructions.
Tab to the view button, and press enter, and in the tree view find you'r
drive C: and than highlight the folder RECYCLER, and tab to next.
Type in the name of you'r Recycle Bin, that you want to be shown on you'r
Desktop, and tab to Finish.
Now you have created a shortcut for your Recycle Bin on your Desktop.

Now press "backspace" until you are back on the root of drive C: and than go
to the Tools menu, "Folder Settings" and go to the View tab, and in the tree
view change the "Hide hidden system files from Off to On, by pressing
spacebar on it, and tab to Apply, and than Ok.
Now you're done, and all should work just as before, and there is an
Icon/shortcut on the Desktop to accessing your "Recycle Bin"!

Good luck!

Hans Pauli.

Chris- Tried that tonight... and, even though I had him reboot, nothing
changed on the desktop. He has manually added an IE shortcut, but could
not

figure out where to look for the Recycle Bin in order to get it added. On
my computer, the Recycle Bin does not show the address path, so we got no
help looking for it on his. Not sure what the person who did the initial
setup did to make the Bin disappear- since it should have been present by
default after installation of XP. I've not encountered this before :(

Not stupid. Yes he can try that. When it asks to remove the user
information, choose yes. A repair should be enough.

bit. Can someone direct me to where I can find information on how to use
Jaws with a laptop keyboard? I initially changed Jaws to use the laptop
keyboard but the cap locks didn't work as an insert key or Jaws key.

I really am looking for the key combination for "say line" or "say all"
with navigation keys on a laptop; and how to get into verbosity to make
some changes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Lennie

Re: [JAWS-Users] Copying attachment info.

2010-04-10 Thread Steve

Fred,

I assume what you want to do is just copy the name of the attachment? You'd
probably have to do that by copying the appropriate line from the Jaws
virtual window which you'd access with alt-insert-w using Jaws 11.

tried several times but have had no luck. Will appreciate any info on

Re: [JAWS-Users] Follow up to the list on my outlook express 6 problem.

2010-04-10 Thread Steve
I can't make a definitive suggestion to cure your issue. It is certain.ly
not an issue that is common as I've not heard of anybody else having a
problem with Outlook Express 6 reading the incorrect subject line with Jaws
or another screen reader. That's not to say that nobody else has
encountered this, but it is rare.

First, have you tried this with another screen reader? Can you try it with
say an earlier version of Jaws, or try it with SaToGo or a demo of
Window-Eyes for example? Do you get the same behavior? If not, try
repairing or re-installing Jaws 11.

Some other possibilities to consider. These may be obvious, but...

Are you certain you are using the PC virtual cursor?
Do you have OE maximized when this behavior occurs?

Good evening everyone:

As some of you may remember, Earlier in the week I posted a problem to the
list about how my outlook express 6 was reading the prior subject line of
the message that I had deleted when I wenttoo read the next message
that's inmy in box. I called Freedomscientific this morning and
talked with a tek too ask him if there was a fix that might help too
correctthis ongoing problem. He told me too update my jaws 11, which is
the current version that I'm using from Jaws 7 point 54 too 7 point 56 I
think. After the update was successfuly downloaded, I restarted the
computer, then went back into my outlook express 6, too see if the update
that he told me too install had fixed the problem. Unfortunately, it
didn't work as I had hoped that it would. So, if there are any assistive
technology trainers out there who either might have heard, or know of a
fix for this problem, I would sure appreciate any help, suggestion, or
advice on this problem. If not, then I'll probably have to install
windows live mail, and no longer use outlook express 6 as my email
program for reading and sending email. This problem, is causing me too
accidently delete important messages, because I see the subject line of
the previous message. This is a very anoying problem that I'd like too
fix if possible. Also because I'm comfortable using the format that
this program has, I'd rather not have too swich too another program unless
I really am forced too.

Just paste it is the run box, if that is what you are asking.
And arrow down to the delete folder and delete it.

I'm going to paste below this message whatI copied where my stored folder

Re: [JAWS-Users] Copying attachment info.

2010-04-10 Thread Josh

Fred,
Whenever I receive an attachment I can do one of two things 1) scroll down
under file to save attachments or 2) control a will highlite the whole
attachment then I can just use my cut or copy commands copy (control c) cut
(control x). The third option I just thought of while typing this message is
go to the area of text you would like to put in a word document and hold
down the shift key until the area you want is all highlited then follow the
commands for cut or copy. Should there be more than one area needing to be
put in a word document use the control commands to copy and then for the
next area and so on highlite again the seperate areas at different times and
use the window key and then the letter "c" this will append the other items
to the clipboard. I need to tell you that I am using outlook express so the
first option may not be the same with other email services. I am hope this
helps.

What if you press f2 on the message and try highlighting the information you
want to copy. Not sure if this will work but whenever I want to copy a file
name but not the actual file I use the f2 for editing.
