Try the merge utility.

I really want to avoid having to laboriously go through each of the
default.jcf and app specific settings in my just installed Jaws11 and I'm
wondering if there is a quicker easier way to move over my Jaws8 settings
to Jaws11.
In the past when I upgraded from Jaws6 to jaws8 I just copied over my
'ENU' file from Jaws6 over to Jaws8 and it immediately migrated all my J6
settings over.

Thx!

I have normal window layout checked as well as the status and toolbar.
When i hit alt v jaws says alt v, view menu, zoom in z. then, i just
arrow

[JAWS-Users] Word Doc problem

2010-05-29 Thread Mike Barbara
Hi All;

When using Jaws1.0.1447 if I open a Word document Jaws goes silent and it
can't be restarted. I have to turn the computer off by holding the power
button on the tower down until the computer turns off, then pressing the
button to restart it. When the computer restarts everything is fine, until
I try to open an existing word doc or open a new word doc or, even if I go
to the start menu and press enter on MS Word, then everything goes mute
again and I have to do a hard reboot, again. I have removed all files from
my ENU settings folder except for the default files and it still does the
mute thing. I am running XPSP3 Home, Jaws10 Jaws11 latest. Does anyone
know why this muting thing is happening? It does not do it using Jaws10.
If anyone has any ideas on how I can fix this annoying problem, I am open to
all suggestions. All help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much. Take
care.

that being said, though, you still need an antispyware program. I'm also

Frankly, I am disappointed with MSE because it won't complete updates
consistently. I am also not a big fan of Avast. So what to do? I am thinking

about trying Avira, and I am wondering how accessible is that particular
anti-virus program?

mike, if your context menu will give you the zoom out option, that should
work fine. i always have to zoom out at least twice to make a picture
totally viewable.

as for avg...I'm using avg free v9 and am totally content with it. it
downloads definitions automatically and it scans on a schedule. I'm not a
computer whiz and i got it all set up to work by myself. i had a fan
replaced on my computer about a year ago and the tech said that avg was what
they recommended in their shop.

that being said, though, you still need an antispyware program. I'm also
using super antispyware and am having no trouble...knock on wood! karen

Hi All;

Take
care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] What video converters works with jaws

2010-05-29 Thread Brian Lee
Hello Macky,

A small program I have used is called WinFF. It is quite simple to use and
works well with JAWS. I don't know if it works with a 64-bit system. It
has been some time since I used it and I really don't remember the system
requirements, but it works well on the Vista 32-bit system I am using with
this computer.

The program loads with an interface that is easy to navigate using the tab
or shift+tab keystrokes. There is an add button that is identified by JAWS
when you tab to it. Pressing spacebar on the button results in the usual
add file dialog box. You can easily find the output folder by tabbing to
where it is shown and you can browse to another output folder to use if you
want to. If you want to use two passes in the conversion process then there
is a checkbox for that choice, which of course will take longer. I haven't
had any problems with the output using the single pass. There is a convert
to combo box with twenty choices in it. The twelfth choice in the list is
for MPEG4. If you tab once past the convert to box there is a list of
presets for the convert to choice you make. The presets for MPEG4 are MP4
full screen and MP4 wide screen. The eighth choice in the convert to
combo box is for IPOD/ITunes, and the presets for that choice are IPod
small converted to wide screen, IPod small full screen, IPod small wide
screen, IPod small wide screen anamorphic, IPod TV out converted to wide
screen, IPod TV out full screen, IPod TV out wide screen, and IPod TV
out anamorphic. Bitrates and frame rates are controlled by the presets.
After making your choices you can tab to the convert button and press
spacebar. When converting starts you can read the current line or status
line and hear how many frames have been processed. When converting is done
you will have a message to press any key to continue when you read the
current line.

I have also used DVDFlick to convert to different video types.

Here is a link to the WinFF file if you want to try it.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3951772/winff-1.0.4-setup.exe

Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] start up sound for jaws

2010-05-29 Thread tim

You won't find in the default scripts the startup message for jaws.
That part is in the jaws.exe file and you will need a hex editor to
make it say something else or put a sound in.
The only place to put a startup sound would be in the sounds for
windows, but that sound will start for all programs starting up not just jaws.

At 11:22 AM 5/29/2010, you wrote:

Did you perchance look in default.jss for the startup text for jaws? Look
for JAWS for Windows is ready in the jss file, and when you find it,
locate where it is output and insert your sound effect.
Have fun.

[JAWS-Users] WEIRD FILES SHOWING UP ON DESKTOP

All JAWS users,
I have a situation that I am not sure how to repair. I downloaded Super

storage area and not on my desktop. I have used Super AntiSpyware for quite
sometime now on my desktop computer and have never encountered this problem.
Should anyone have any solutions to this matter please help. thanks in advance.
I started to delete one of these files but was not sure if it was informing me
that it would affect the functioning process of JAWS or more detrimental damage
such as destroy the computer resulting in JAWS being disabled as well as the

Hi Josh;

Have you checked your SAS folder in program files folder on the C drive to
see what's in there? If you don't have an SAS folder in program files, I
would uninstall/remove SAS through control panel/ add or remove programs, do
a disk cleanup, a disk defrag, and reboot the computer to make sure
everything is gone. Then, reinstall SAS and when tabbing through the
install dialogue make sure that SAS is being installed into the default
folders. I am only suggesting what I would do. If I am giving wrong
steps/ideas will someone please jump in and correct me! Take care.
