[JAWS-Users] sound quality? RE: update on the programs page
hello, I must add to this discussion that using any software to capture/download songs and such off youtube gives you a poor quality mp3 file despite whatever settings you may have on the converter software. so the big gotcha here is noticeably inferior sound quality. If that doesn't bother you then such converters are for you. Re: [JAWS-Users] update on the programs page
Mp3 files are smaller than video files therefore, don't take up as much space on a hard-drive. So if you like a song, all you need is the mp3 portion of it unless you have to see avideo to go along with it! Also, I like to download tv shows but I don't need the video portion to be able to listen to it. Great little program! Re: [JAWS-Users] Pearl not scanning
Steve, thank you for responding Yes, I did this. I called FS support today and they were stumped. We hooked up with Tandom but found nothing. They gave me a ticket number and said they could call back. I just remembered something. When I first started installing openbook, I heard the word error. However, the install continued perfectly. When I open openbook, everything is here as it should be. I can also turn on the Pearl light. I tried several USB ports on my laptop and different Workflow options. The laptop still froze. I had to use alt F4 to leave the program. Steve, I was looking around to see if there is an option to hear all of the access keys as you move through the menus as there was in past Openbooks. Have you seen this. I pointed out to the tech that my Toshiba operates perfectly with Jaws. David, Is this just the program, e.g., not the videosoft free studio? I discovered when I originally downloaded it a year or so ago that, although the Youtube converter is accessable, the interface for the video studio wasn't--at least not very. [JAWS-Users] Does this way help to make Windows Explorer (not the web browser) les chatty?
following up on the conversation ongoing: I too found that with Windows explorer (the file /folder manager) in focus, insert 6 opens up the Internet Explorer config manager instead. so I went to Jaws window, opened up the config manager from there which defaults to opening up default.jcf. Then under file and open I scroll down to 'explorer'. there is no entry 'windows explorer' so I assume 'explorer' there in the list refers to Windows. Then try out unchecking the control items as Chris H pointed out earlier. Pl tell me if that works. I am currently on my work XP JFW11 machine and I didn't find any change. However on my personal Win7 JFW11 machine at home Jaws does get really chatty each time I open a new folder and I cant wait to try out this method to see if it indeed reduces the chattiness. There is a bit more verbosity in JAWS on some computers with Windows 7, to which it was originally applied, than with JAWS in Windows XP. - Original Message - From: "Mike & Barbara Arcadia" To: Sent: Friday, August 20, 2010 3:13 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Making JAWS less chatty in Windows Explorer Hi Patti; Here is another way to make Jaws a little less " chatty ." Re: [JAWS-Users] Making JAWS less chatty in Windows Explorer
Hi Patti & Flor; I realize that Windows Explorer, My Computer, IE,etc are 1 in the same, per say. I asked the question so that someone with less Jaws experience wouldn't feel like they were doing something wrong when they got the My Computer or Internet Explorer message when the Windows key + E keystroke was invoked or accessing Windows Explorer through Start Menu / Programs / Accessories. Also, when not hearing Windows Explorer announced when opening the configuration manager. Now with the both of you explaining what happens some people won't feel reluctant to give this tip a try. Thanks for your responses and explanations. Take care.
