Use down arrow key until you get to the choice for adding to the Windows Media Player list and press enter key on that choice. 4. When the music starts playing use CTRL+P to pause it. I have also noticed this edit box issue. It is not limited to google though. Every now and then, sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't, I start typing into an edit box, and the characters just don't appear. I am typing from the qwerty keyboard. Often, exiting IE and starting again works. Occasionally, I just hit enter on the submit button, then try again, and that often does work. I haven't been able to consistently reproduce this behavior. It happens on a Windows XP box running JFW 12 and IE 8 and on a Windows 7 box running JFW 13 and IE9. -- Blue skies. Dan Rossi Carnegie Mellon University. [JAWS-Users] Tinking or beeping sound when using ctrl+up/down arrow in MSWord with jaws 13
hello folks I am used to using the ctrl+up/down arrow when navigating between paragraphs in microsoft word and other word processing applications. However, I recently downloaded the upgrade to jaws 13 and am not able to use this command effectively. It is making a tinking or beeping sound when I go to the top or bottom of file and it wouldn't let me use the ctrl+up/down arrow because of it. Whenever I want to use this command, the beeping sound repeats. What I do than is use the command say all or reading by line or by sentence. These commands work fine. I tried to merge the settings with jaws 12 with the merge utility but I learned that jaws wouldn't merge the app specific settings for MSWord due to the recent improvements in jaws 13. I hope someone can help me resolve this issue as it really decreases my productiveness and I have to use jaws 12 when working with MSWord. [JAWS-Users] Shrink document to one page in Word 2010
Hi Folks, I can't remember if I've asked this before, but thought I would bring it up again in case someone has come along and knows how to do it. Back in Word 2003, within the Print Preview window, there used to be a toolbar button that would take various elements of a document like font, line spacing, margin width and length and various other properties, and alter them, upon command, of course, to bring everything to one page. So, for example, if I had a document, let's say for argument's sake, this is a formal letter to someone that is about so many words in length, and the letter would take up only one page, if not for the signature line at the bottom which seems to be showing up on the second page, which is not professional in the least. So, one would go into the file menu, enter on print preview, and, in the resulting window, one would press the alt key to activate the menu bar, then control+tab to get to the toolbar whereby you could move to the right and enter on the button which had an image of multiple pages with an curved arrow pointing to one page on the right side of the button. I found this button to be a Godsend, especially where I was writing quick format letters that would invariably creep onto the second page with my name at the bottom. Does anyone know if this feature has been moved over into Word 2010 and if so, how does one go about getting to it? I thought it was called fit to page, but that particular features seems to do something completely different from what I need. If anyone has any advice on what I have to do to get this feature back I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks all. Hi Virgil, Give this a look: http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/products/dvd/Free-Audio-CD-Burner.htm It has a simple interface that is quite accessible with Jaws, appears to do a nice job, and it's free. [JAWS-Users] Microsoft word question.
Hi all; I have XP and13.0. I just updated to 13.0 and when I am in Microsoft word, JAWS reads tabs, for example, when I am at the top of the page, I hear 1 inch. or, before a certain line I hear 1.5 inches. I am not sure where to turn this off. I can not get JAWS to announce the - symbol. Precise directions are appreciated. Oh, lately, I have sent messages to JAWS and they would not appear in my in box. Thanks all. Re: [JAWS-Users] Shrink document to one page in Word 2010
Hit alt to go to menu, right arrow until you hear something like page layout. Hit the enter key and then tab until you hear page set up. Then you hit enter and then tab to make the individual changes you want to make. If you change the top and bottom margens,, that might help to get everything on the single page. You might also find some other features which might help, such as maybe changing font size, etc. Explore your options. Re: [JAWS-Users] Shrink document to one page in Word 2010
Hello Scorpio and Kuenga, Microsoft removed the button for fitting to one page from the print preview box for Word 2010. However, the button can still be added to the quick access toolbar. You can then activate the function by using Alt with the number representing the position of the button on the QAT. Here is how to add it: 1. Press Alt+F to activate the file button. 2. Press Alt+T to move to the Word options dialog box. 3. Press the letter Q to move to the customize the quick access toolbar options. 4. Tab to the choose commands from combo box and press the letter A until you get to the All commands choice. 5. Tab to the list of commands and press the letter S and then use page down or arrow keys until you find the shrink one page command. (commands are listed in alphabetical order). 6. Tab to the Add button and press spacebar. 7. Tab to the list box of commands that are on the quick access toolbar and find out the position of the command in the list. Alt with the number representing the position of the command will activate the command. If it is the second one in the list then Alt+2 can be used to activate it in a document. 8. You can also tab to buttons to use for moving the command up or down in the list. 9. Tab to the OK button and press spacebar. Remember that other attributes are affected somewhat when shrinking to fit text on one page. Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] Shrink document to one page in Word 2010
You can also assign a keyboard shortcut to this command. The function attempts to reduce the document to one page fewer than it would ordinarily occupy. The name of the function in the Customize Keyboard dialog is Tools, shrink to Fit. You can get to it by pressing alt+f, t, c, alt+t to reach the Customize Keyboard dialog, then in the list of tabs, choose either the Print Preview or All Commands tab, with the former being a much shorter list. Once you have chosen your desired tab, press the TAB key, then press T and arrow to Tools Shrink to Fit. Tab twice to the Press New Shortcut Key edit field and press the desired key. Use the JAWS cursor to see if the key is already assigned to a function you want to preserve. If so, tab twice to the Assign button and press space to activate. The function has a different name in the Customize Keyboard dialog than it does in the Customize QAT dialog, but I suspect both refer to the same function.
