Re: [JAWS-Users] What works with Win 7?
Rich, I have IE 8 and this still works fine with Win 7, although I am going to upgrade. From what I have read, no Google Chrome. If you get Outlook, this is part of the Office Outlook package, as opposed to Outlook Express which was part of XP. To my mind it is not as easy as Outlook Express if you are using that, but still much better than other ways of handling email. Jmho Good luck. It is a whole new experience I know. Re: [JAWS-Users] Authorization code.
To my knowledge, Belarc does not give you authorization codes for any product. It'll possibly give you the license number for it, but certainly not the installation key or authorization code for Jaws, otherwise this would completely negate the need for an authorization code. Your only remedy is to contact Freedom Scientific with your serial number, or, if not known, your name and address, by telephone or e-mail, and they'll do what they need to do to ensure you have a valid authorization code, and number of activations required. If not, you can always go to fsactivate.com and request a reset of your activations, at which point, depending on what time you do this during the day, you'll have your activations reset and you'll be able to install and activate your version of Jaws within the same day, or within the next 24 business hours. In any case, Belarc will not accomplish what you need. Sorry about that. Scorpio For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Re: [JAWS-Users] Disabling NVDA
Hi Rich, there are various ways to accomplish this task. The temporary way is to bring up the application manager using control+shift+escape, ensure that you are in the processes tab by using control+tab to move through the tabs, tab to the list of processes currently running on your computer, and, press the letter N to move directly to NVDA. The good thing is that Windows 7 offers a simple view of your processes, so you'll know exactly what they are. NVDA is labeled as NVDA, so, when you land on it, press alt+E to stop the process. A dialog box will ask you to confirm your descision, so simply press enter on the yes button, and the process will shut down. In any case, whether it's NVDA or Narrator, the press of the N key will identify the culprit. One thing you should beware of is that you end the process on the correct NVDA. This may be trivial to you, but I'll sometimes get mistaken when my screen reader reads out NVDA and NVDIA, as my speech for functionality is quite high, so I tend to overlook small things like the I inserted just before the A in NVDA. This process you should leave alone, as this is your graphics card process, and your computer, and possibly Jaws may need it to run. In any case, if it is NVDA, make sure that your screen reader actually says NVDA, and not NVDIA. Once it's shut down, press your Windows key+R to bring up the run dialog box, and type the word msconfig in the edit field and press enter. In the resulting dialog box, press control+tab to go to the services tab. Once there, tab to the list of programs, though this may not be necessary as your screen reader should place you directly on the services tab. Once there, arrow through the services looking for the application, NVDA or Narrator and uncheck the box accompanying it. Again, make sure you uncheck the box for NVDA and not NVDIA. Once this is done, press control+tab again to go to the start-up tab, and see if you find the program in that tab as well. You shouldn't, but better safe than sorry. If you do find it there, simply uncheck the box that corresponds to it and tab to the apply key. Press the spacebar, then shift+tab to the ok button and press the spacebar once more. At this point, you may or may not be presented with a dialog box asking you to re-start your computer. Regardless of whether you are presented with one or not, re-start your computer to make sure the change took effect. Once your computer comes back up, you'll be presented with a dialog box letting you know that you're currently running your computer in selective start-up mode, simply tab to the checkbox that says, don't show me this dialog box, or start the configuration manager when I boot into Windows, check this box, than tab to the ok button and press the spacebar to make it go away. Re: [JAWS-Users] Disabling NVDA
Thanks so much! - Original Message - From: Scorpio scorpio...@gmail.com To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Saturday, October 19, 2013 9:58 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Disabling NVDA Hi Rich, there are various ways to accomplish this task. [JAWS-Users] Please help-links no longer activating from emails?
Hi, I'm using JAWS 14 with the latest build of Thunderbird and Firefox on a Windows 8 computer and starting today when I click on a link in an email either nothing happens or I'm asked to choose the program to open it with, but I'm given no list to choose from. Can anyone tell me what might have happened and how to fix it, if I can? Thanks. Lisa For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
[JAWS-Users] Yahoo Mobile Mail
The Yahoo help group suggested that I try a different browser. I tried Firefox instead of IE9. With Firefox, I can now delete or move one or more e-mails! The only remaining bug is that it does not show the combo box that it did before all this trouble. This combo box allows the user to delete the whole Spam folder of e-mails. As explained below, I just leave the Spam messages to accumulate, and Yahoo deletes them once a month or so. Yahoo mobile mail is quite accessible now. It still has the bug that you cannot delete more than one e-mail at a time, even in the Inbox. Despite that, since I can read my Inbox e-mails one at a time, I find Yahoo Mobile Mail useful. By the way, has anyone learned why some of us have this bug and others do not? Now, it occurred to me that deleting spam is mostly a favor to Yahoo Mobile Mail. Now I am just letting spam accumulate, and Yahoo will have to pay for its storage! I already have a hundred spam messages for Yahoo to pay for! Best wishes, Jim For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
