Re: [JAWS-Users] CCleaner & Its Drive Wiper Tool
Hello Mike, One of the best ways to deal with hard drive in general, whether it be partitions etc, is to boot from a specific utility, a process which is totally inaccessible to us JAWS users. However, with some sighted assistance, utilities like Gparted for manipulating drive structure / partitions is a safe and efficient way to get this otherwise dangerous task completed. Similarly inaccessible is Darik's Boot and Nuke for deleting the contents of any hard disk but it's a great program. Unfortunately, there are some tasks that may well be beyond us. [JAWS-Users] using JAWS with Avast 2014
Hi; I am new to this list I will be installing Avast on my new laptop which has JAWS 15 and Windows 8.1. I am planning to use the Ninite Avast installer to avoid any of the unwanted third party software. Is their anything else that I need to know about installing and using Avast with JAWS? I have heard some reports of Avast blocking JAWS. Is their anything that I can do to avoid this from happening? Also, If this does happen, what do I do? Thank you in advance. Re: [JAWS-Users] choosing an item in a drop box
Ok, when you are in the combo box try doing an alt down arrow and then picking the library that you want and then do an alt up arrow to close the combo box. On 8/4/2014 12:00 PM, Pinky wrote: Hi Group, I am not sure exactly how to explain my problem but I will do my best. When I go to my libraries web site and go to where to log on the site there is a drop box with a list of libraries in the list. when I hit the letter a to take me to my library that begins with an A the first one that comes up is a different library. So what happens is that as soon as I hit the a the focus is move to the library number. The web site automatically move the focus to the library number as soon as a library name is chosen. This drop box does not allow me to arrow down the drop box to select my library. As soon as I try to arrow down it chooses the first library in the list and then move the focus to the library number field. So my question is how do I keep or use JAWS to select the correct library in this drop down box? Re: [JAWS-Users] MSconfig
Hi Mario, I want to be clear here, we are talking about the "startup" tab, which lists programs, and not the "Services" tab, which lists the running services. Over the years I have found that aside from the items I mentioned in my earlier post, everything else is a matter of preference. In Windows 98 I found that 2 items for my HP scanner had to be checked in order for OpenBook to identify it, but that was only true of the HP, other brands didn't require that. It is not uncommon for any of my systems to have no more than 2 items checked in the startup tab. As far as services go, these will vary from system to system, depending on the user's needs. I have seen as many as 180 services listed in Windows, but rarely are all running, or enabled for that matter. There are resources on the internet for lists of services that can be safely disabled, for each version of Windows. I think black viper.com is one of them.
