[JAWS-Users] Jaws Default JDF Dictionary Manager

2014-11-13 Thread Mike B.
Hi All,

Running J15, 16, Win7 Pro. When I put, nvda, into the Jaws default JDF
dictionary Manager want it to read as, NVDA, Jaws doesn't want to read it
as capitalized letters. I've tried it with the case sensitive option
checked unchecked but, no go, it stills speaks it as lower case letters no
matter what application I'm in. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can
get, nvda, to be read as, NVDA? yes, I am saving the changes before
closing the dictionary manager. Also, nvda, won't read as capitalized
letters even if I try to put it in an application dictionary manager like
the Notepad dictionary manager either. All help will be greatly
appreciated. Thanks much.
Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Deleting the entire Delete Folder at once

2014-11-13 Thread Shoshana Hathaway
Linda, you do know that you can set your email prefs to delete everything in
the delete folder each time you close close your mail client, right? I
can't remember which client you use, but I could do that in every mail
client I've ever used, so you might want to prowl around in your options
menu there and do that. This way, stuff doesn't build up over time and take
up space that could be better used (grin).

Subject: [JAWS-Users] what's new in latest jaws 15

It looks like FS came out with an update to Jaws 15, but
I can't find
a page on their site that explains what they changed with
this latest
 release. Anyone know what's new?

 Shane

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Jaws Default JDF Dictionary Manager

Take care.

Ok, Simon's suggestion worked. I just did it using spaces in between the
letters.
I also didn't check the box for it to be k sencitive.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS16 fails to read MS Word documents and Excel cell entries while JAWS 15 does

2014-11-13 Thread Dujari, Prateek
Hello gang.
I've both the latest JFW15 and JFW16 on my Win8 64bit PC. I consistently notice
that JFW 16 fails to read content in my MS Word documents while JFW15
consistently and reliably is able to read them. Ditto behavior when trying to
read entries in an MS excel sheet cell by hitting F2 to read the entry. These
are the same documents in Word and Excel that I've observed the diff in
behavior between JFW15 and 16.

What's going on and do you have a solution to offer?

[JAWS-Users] Keystroke combo to copy table from a web page

Hello gang.
What is the keystroke combo to copy a table on a web page when I'm on it with
the virtual cursor so that I may copy the table retaining its row/column
formatting and paste it in to a MS Word doc retaining the row/column formatting?

2014-11-13 Thread Scott Duck
Hi,
Not sure about the difficulty that you are experiencing in Word. However,
in Excel, when using F2 to edit the cell's contents, I have often had
trouble with JAWS not reading text that the cursor passes over. I have had
problems with this for years, going back several JAWS versions and going
back to Excel 2003 (I am currently using Excel 2010). I have reported it to
FS. They say that it is a known issue but they haven't fixed it yet.
Thanks,
Scott Duck

Linda, you do know that you can set your email prefs to delete everything
in

the delete folder each time you close close your mail client, right? I
can't remember which client you use, but I could do that in every mail
client I've ever used, so you might want to prowl around in your options

take

up space that could be better used (grin).

It's good practice to allow WM to compress your files for you when
 prompted.
It makes me think of a trash compacter, pressing and pressing mail flatter

Did you call MS about computer related issues, that accessible number?

Well, good luck with whatever it is your trying to do here.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS Requiring Re-Authorization

2014-11-13 Thread Mauricio Molina
Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone els has been having the issue of JAWS becoming
unauthorized and requiring re-authorization? I just sent the below message
to supp...@freedomscientif.com:

To Whom It May Concern:

Computer System
HP Elite Notebook laptop
Windows 7 Professional
32 bit
Microsoft Office 2010 Professional
JAWS 15/JAWS 16 Professional

Within the last 3 weeks, I have had to reauthorize JAWS twice for no
apparent reason. On the first occasion, I was running the version of JAWS 15
prior to the version released this past Monday, November 10, 2014. On that
occasion, I had been using JAWS for nearly an hour before opening an email
message in Outlook 2010; I had been reading email for nearly 20 minutes
before this occurred. After opening the email message from a reputable
iPhone list, JAWS crashed and my only option was to unload JAWS; the JAWS
Key+Windows Key+F4 command did not work. Upon restarting my computer, I was
asked to re-authorize JAWS.

The second occurrence happened just a few minutes ago; I am writing this
while in demo mode. I started my computer for the first time today and was
quickly prompted to re-authorize JAWS. The version I am now using is JAWS 16
(installed a week ago) which had been working fairly well. While there does
not appear to be a reason why JAWS failed on that first occasion, I might be
willing to consider that this second time was the result of the Windows
update installed on Tuesday, November 11, however, JAWS functioned normally
yesterday, Wednesday, November 12.

Any thoughts on what is occurring?, and please do not blame my system.

Mauricio

LOL, Linda ...ok ...I completely understand ...about not always shutting
down, about computers with ...personalities (usually difficult,
temperamental and finicky) and about Microsoft, LOL! So, yes, for you,
deleting the deleted stuff is the best option (smile)

BTW, if you whisper nice things into a computer's USB port, it

helps make it more amenable to human interaction ...and sometimes it
doesn't. (grin).

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS16 fails to read MS Word documents and Excelcell entries while JAWS 15 does

2014-11-13 Thread Mike Boyd

I have also experienced this for a long time, but not recently. When I did
have it happen, I found that deleting the text, and then retyping itafter
pressing the F
2 edit key fixed the problem. The next time I opened the document and
pressed F2 on that particular cell, JAWS would read the text. Go figure.

Hi,
Not sure about the difficulty that you are experiencing in Word. However,
in Excel, when using F2 to edit the cell's contents, I have often had
trouble with JAWS not reading text that the cursor passes over. I have had
problems with this for years, going back several JAWS versions and going
back to Excel 2003 (I am currently using Excel 2010). I have reported it to
FS. They say that it is a known issue but they haven't fixed it yet.
Thanks,
Scott Duck

Hello gang.
I've both the latest JFW15 and JFW16 on my Win8 64bit PC. I consistently
notice that JFW 16 fails to read content in my MS Word documents while JFW15
consistently and reliably is able to read them. Ditto behavior when trying
to read entries in an MS excel sheet cell by hitting F2 to read the entry.
These are the same documents in Word and Excel that I've observed the diff
in behavior between JFW15 and 16.

What's going on and do you have a solution to offer?

Prateek

Shoshana:

I am convinced that either my computer wants chocolate or the touch of a
delicate male hand. My guru is male and when I try to fix something,
following his instructions, nothing happens. He can then touch one key and
it works like a charm. My problem is that I no longer have a male residing
continually in my home (sigh).

These CD's will have only the current version of JAWS 16 on them, when an
update is released, the CD's will not be viable to use anymore.

The only CD that will have your authorization number on the jacket is
the first one that you bought. The SMA upgrade CDs do not have this info
printed on the jacket.

It might have your authorization number printed, which I have known to
lose.

I don't have my cd, btw, but I never really cared for them.

Hello,
For those of you who have received your new jaws 16 DVD, is there
anything on there that is useful other than the regular jaws 16 program
that I downloaded from the freedom scientific website?
Best,
Alan

It truly pays to have your authorization number written somewhere. It comes
in handy when one wants to put Jaws on another computer. Or, when one needs
to reformat.

I don't know if the authorization key is printed on the disk. I have
written my key on a file card and saved it on a casette as well. just a
