Re: [JAWS-Users] status of VIPRE's accessibility
Hi Mario, I spoke to tech support the other day explaining I wanted to go back to 2014. They said the only difference between the new version and the old was the interface. They didn't give any indication of when support or definitions for the 2014 accessible version would happen. I have heard that someone is working with someone at Vipre to make the new 2015 version accessible. Apparantly it should happen sometime early this year. On 06-January-2015 12:19, Mario Brusco wrote: I was wondering if there's an update to this issue, and if emailing customer support would offer any info? I'm concerned to as how long will the definitions keep being compatible with 2014's interface. at one point, support will not be possible anymore. am I being paranoid about this? when I had 2013, I recall being upgraded to 2014 well before the year 2014 rolled in. now I still have 2014 because 2015 was stated to be inaccessible. but when will 2015 be JAWS friendly? of course no one knows, but... Hi Brian, Here is the page you are looking for: http://www.freedomscientific.com/products/blindness/Focus14Documentation From the FS home page, down arrow until you hear, PRODUCTS Menu, and press enter. This opens a sub-menu where you should choose the blindness products option, and again, press enter. When the new page loads, press the letter H for heading, until you come to the Focus Braille heading This is a link, as you should hear Jaws announce, so once again press enter. When the resulting page loads, use Jaws key + F7 to open the links list and press the letter D for documentation. This should place you on the same page as the link given above. Just use your navigation keys from here to find the download link that you want. [JAWS-Users] status of VIPRE's accessibility
I was wondering if there's an update to this issue, and if emailing customer support would offer any info? I'm concerned to as how long will the definitions keep being compatible with 2014's interface. at one point, support will not be possible anymore. am I being paranoid about this? when I had 2013, I recall being upgraded to 2014 well before the year 2014 rolled in. now I still have 2014 because 2015 was stated to be inaccessible. but when will 2015 be JAWS friendly? of course no one knows, but... Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws not reading the close window icon
Hi Jason, It sound like you need to change your Desktop Theme to Windows Classic. Try the following: 1. While on the desktop make sure nothing is selected. Press control + spacebar until you hear not selected. You can also press the F5 key. 2. Open your context menu, up arrow to personalize, press enter. 3. Press down arrow until you get to an item called Windows7 Basic. Right arrow to Windows Classic. Hit the enter key to make the desired change. 4. Wait a few seconds or until you hear an audio sound effect confirming the completion of this process. I would wait another 2 minutes or so as your computer is making lots of changes and you want to allow lots of time for the process to complete. This will also take the Desktop out of the loop when using Alt + Tab. Your Sounds Theme may also change. HTH Take care. So are looking forward to improving my skills in using Jaws(even though I am a long time user of it smile). I have been having several issues with Jaws since version 15. For example, I am currently using Jaws 16 on a Windows7 home premium on a desktop computer. Starting with Jaws15, I have noticed that Jaws will no longer speak to me the close icon at the top of any programs or windows. I have confirmed with family members that the icon is in fact showing. I have spoken to my local Freedom Scientific distributor. But they just said. If it is there, than Jaws will read it. But like I said, family members confirm that they can see it and click on it. I do realize, that I can use the alt F4 command to close a program or window. But I find that alt F4 does not always close properly. So I like to be able to route Jaws to the PC cursor and then left click on the close icon. Has anybody else experienced this? A dialog will appear offering you a free trial of the Pro version. 3. In order to see the Uninstall and Cancel buttons, you may need to use Convenient OCR. That's what I had to do. 4. How about multiple versions of a program? Can I uninstall old Office versions without damaging the current one? I've got Revo, but haven't put it on my current PC. You need to use first letter navigation to do this or, use your arrow keys because I haven't found a way to put all the programs into list view. 2. With the program highlighted that you want to remove, open the context menu and press enter on uninstall. You will get a dialogue asking if you're sure you want to remove this program, tab to the yes option press the spacebar. 3. Now it's time to choose the level at which revo uninstaller does its job. So, Shift + tab, into the options list. you have 4 modes Built-in, Safe, Moderate, Advanced. I always choose advanced because some programs love to leave registry entries and little traces of themselves everywhere. These are radio buttons, so just choose the appropriate one. 4. Hit the next button and Revo will go to work and uninstall your program, so sit back for a minute or two. 5. This is when the fun really starts. After you hit the next button, Revo will display a number of left over files and registry entries from the program.hit the tab key and you should find a select all button, and a delete button. so first hit select all, followed by delete. You'll get a warning asking if you really want to do this? Answer yes. It'll then delete any files left over. Now depending on how the program is, it may next ask you to delete registry entries, this is the same as left over files. Don't worry, this is safe to do because it only deletes the registry entries that are for the application you're uninstalling, it won't delete anything else but that. So do the select all and delete thing again and answer yes. Sometimes, you might even see a screen that just has a tree view, but it has nothing displayed. In that case just do what you would normally do and hit select all and delete and that'll do it. After all that is done revo will display a dialogue with a finish button. Hit that, and you're done. you can then delete another program or close the program it's up to you. Sometimes you need to use the, Insert + F10, keystroke to open the Jaws task list find the Revo remove option press enter because you'll have landed on a blank window so you need to bring Revo back into focus. I hope this helps explain things a bit better. Take care. I did not use the ocr, as I said I switched to jaws cursor then moved up and down pressing enter on everything jaws announced as uninstall/cancel button. there are a number of them. In order to see the Uninstall and Cancel buttons, you may need to use Convenient OCR. That's what I had to do. 4. Do a double left-click on the Uninstall button. Re: [JAWS-Users] need help uninstalling a program
At least up through Office 2007, each version of Office is its own separate software suite, and will show up that way in any uninstall program. You can safely uninstall the older version of office. That said, the only downside of leaving the older version is the amount of disk space the program is taking up. Also, there are some aspects of the newer versions of Office that make JAWS more convoluted to use compared with earlier versions, so you may want to keep that older version if your project involves tasks that are easier to do in the older version.
