How are they to do something about that when this is all happening before you log in and JAWS is started? Re: [JAWS-Users] How can I kill jaws 15 without killing jaws 16?
Hi Ron, I failed to mention what I found confusing about your original post. When list members use the term, Kill Jaws, they are usually referring to unloading it from memory or, in other instances, muting/ silencing Jaws. But, as I read further into your message, I then realized that you were actually wanting to remove the J15 version. I'm sorry if I sounded like a smart a** in my original reply. Take care. [JAWS-Users] How can I kill jaws 15 without killing jaws 16?
Hi to all. Could use just a little bit of help. Would like to know how I can kill jaws version 15 and still be able to keep version 16? Now when I go to Programs and features I do see freedom scientific jaws 15. But to make sure all of 15 is removed from my computer, is there any other files in the programs and features that I also need to click on to remove 15 only? Many thanks. [JAWS-Users] Microsoft Disability Desk
I'm using JFW 15, have the ability to upgrade to 16, but haven't. Reserved Windows 10, but don't want it at this point. Couldn't figure out how to get it out of my system tray and not to ask. I called the Ms Disability Desk, and a really nice woman had a remote session with me. Windows 10 will give me the option to download or not, and I can now choose whatever updates to download. Were on the phone about a half hour -- they had to call me back. I know we went to the Control Panel, but not sure what we did. Really appreciated the help and told her this. Re: [JAWS-Users] a brief report on the inexpensive HP stream tablet
Hi Geoff, It was nice of you to put this together, however, it doesn't conform to the list guidelines. You started by talking about NVDA, which is obviously off-topic for the list, and only mentioned that you installed Jaws later in your message. This list is not for reviewing hardware, it is for the discussion of Jaws. Let's end this thread before it gets started. Thank you, Richard Q. Justice-list moderator jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com - Original Message - From: "Geoff Eden" To: Sent: Sunday, August 02, 2015 1:04 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] a brief report on the inexpensive HP stream tablet I have been given an HP stream with which to play , from my son, because the battery is beginning to fade. However, it's been most interesting, and thought I should share. It runs NVDA perfectly, but more gestures will have to be included in its inventory to make it really comfortable in the touchscreen environment. So, I picked up an on the go adapter and run the streams only port to a USB hub, from which I run a memory stick, a keyboard, and often a headset. The screen is a 7 inch diagonal, and people who see it tell me they have to squint even with glasses. Hence, the touch points are extremely tiny. No one can beat a $79 computer that works. Oh yes, the new one with a fresh battery lasts for five or six hours in the hands of a sighted person, so using some extreme power saving, such as screen brightness, I would bet that one could double the time as the display is usually the most power-hungry element in a tablet. It's a challenge to learn your way around Windows 81 with NVBA coping with its navigation scheme on top of the unknowns of 8.1. I put jaws 14 32-bit on the tablet and it worked right away. That is, from the keyboard. It acts like a slow laptop.(Not really that slow) Touching the screen gets a few things to speak, I believe, more or less randomly, noting that I do not know the 8.1 gesture scheme. The microphone is astonishingly good, of course, there is an eighth inch audio plug. Looking at its internal memory, driveC, from what it reports is 24 gig available, there is seven gig in use with JAWS installed. So, there's room for more software. I may take a chance and download version 12, and if it runs, I may put NaturallySpeaking in with my version of J-Say. There's a little door in the back under which you can place an SD card, if I come upon a 64 gig card, I may install it, which will give me a groovy little mini desktop to take outside on warm evenings. After all the messing about, there was still over 70% battery. May have to find some way to disable the screen, as accidentally touching it sends the machine into a fit, and with my novice experience of 8.1, I'm really lost. Need to scoop up some really good shortcut listings. Now, if we can find a little keyboard that works well, especially if it's Bluetooth, then it would be possible to have a little desktop in a sack for hardly a hundred dollars. The tablet is approximately 10 x 6" and is about a third of an inch thick. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are both built-in. My son tells me that he could only charge it from its own HP adapter, which is an ordinary looking cube with a USB cable that terminates in a micro USB male plug, a so-called "on the go" plug. I haven't tried it in my computer yet to see to see if there is something he may have done wrong. The "on the go" adapter was $24 at Best Buy, I paid up, because I was impatient and didn't want to wait for delivery of what might have been a six or seven dollar online purchase. Eloquence is already installed and it's profile can be found in JAWS options/VoiceVoice adjustments. The other profiles I mentioned will also be found in JAWS options/voices/voice adjustment if you have any of their voices installed. Windows comes with a couple of SAPI 5 voices, so that profile should also be available. Also there are several companies that cell SAPI 5 voices. You can download and install Vocalizer or Realspeak voices from the Freedom Scientific web site to also make those profiles available. You can switch between the profiles by going to JAWS options/voices/Select a profile or by pressing JAWSkey+control+s. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Mark Brett Sent: Saturday, August 01, 2015 07:05 To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws voices I have jaws 16 are all these included?
