Re: [JAWS-Users] Problem with iTunes

2015-12-11 Thread Trish
you might have to do a restore . I had to do that once on my iPhone 6.
I did it through iTunes not via the cloud, just a matter of preference.
I recently had a similar issue, my apps on my phone were not showing on another
computer not connected to Jaws or windows. but I had to use the window’s system
to backup all the apps to a flash drive, then I had to move those apps and it’s
folder into iTunes folder into where it says put media here or something along
those lines. it worked cause the apps are now showing on both systems.
I’m not suggesting you have to do that here, but if tunes is not recognizing
your phone, you may have to restore it.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Problem with iTunes

2015-12-11 Thread Kimber Gardner
I had this problem after updating my iPhone to iOS9.

What version of iTunes are you running on your computer? If your issue
is the same as mine, you may need to update iTunes. Even though my
laptop said I was running the latest version of iTunes, that wasn't
true. I had to go to the following link and download iTunes 12.3. Once
I did that and installed iTunes, the problem went away.

https://support.apple.com/downloads/itunes

I hope this helps.

a correction on something i said here. i meant to type, look for the “apply”
button and not say look for “apple” button.
I have had to restore my phone, it’s no big deal, just follow the prompts,
apple will do the rest. don’t panic when your phone stops talking, it will come
back again when apple is finished updating/restoring.
i hate that part myself, and try not to bite off my nails till vo comes
back,grins
you can also make back ups of your phone either through the cloud or via your
computer. i choose to go that route, so make sure in i tunes, one of those must
be checked however you wish to backup your phone.
you can locate a recent backup going through file menu right there in i tunes.
jaws does pretty good job reading i tunes now with 16 at least.
i know how frustrating i tunes can be, it took me a long time to learn how to
use it affectively both on my window’s 7 laptop and now on my Mac.

if not, then something is not checked. also, apple might ask you to sync your

and spacebar on it, it should tell you the phone is syncing.
just wait till you hear the chime sound before you remove the phone, in fact
it’s better for you to find the eject button or hit the context key and see if

if all that fails, then you might need to restore your phone, i tunes will give
you that option to restore your phone.
if none of that works, call apple accessibility at, 877-204-3930 for help.
you do not need to uninstall i tunes.

The chip you use should not affect Jaws one way or the other. If you are
looking for the absolutely fastest chip money can buy, then Intel is
what you want. If you are on a budget, AMD will give you the most bang
for your buck. As an example, the Intel i7 4790k costs $300 or more, the
AMD fx8370 costs $164, give or take.

you can also make back ups of your phone either through the cloud or via your
computer. i choose to go that route, so make sure in i tunes, one of those must
be checked however you wish to backup your phone.
you can locate a recent backup going through file menu right there in i tunes.
jaws does pretty good job reading i tunes now with 16 at least.
i know how frustrating i tunes can be, it took me a long time to learn how to
use it affectively both on my window’s 7 laptop and now on my Mac.

hello,

are you going to the summary in the list?
once you select that,or that it is checked, then you should be able to tab
through i tunes to hear your phone info. make sure you have the box checked to
sync when you connect your phone to i tunes so it will recognize it.
are you still signed to i cloud?
when i do all this on window’s 7 laptop running latest i tunes and jaws 16, i
can tab and hear my phones info, the name, phone number, what ios version it’s
using,etc.
the info tab when checked instead of summary is where you sync music or
apps,etc.
when you phone is plugged to your computer and i tunes is open, do you hear a
chime sound that apple has synced your phone?
if not, then something is not checked. also, apple might ask you to sync your
phone even after it chimes, here again tab through to you find an apple button
and spacebar on it, it should tell you the phone is syncing.
just wait till you hear the chime sound before you remove the phone, in fact
it’s better for you to find the eject button or hit the context key and see if
it’s there, sometimes it is, sometimes not.
if all that fails, then you might need to restore your phone, i tunes will give
you that option to restore your phone.
if none of that works, call apple accessibility at, 877-204-3930 for help.
you do not need to uninstall i tunes.

I am not following your issue. It is reading correctly for me. I depend on
numerical data on a daily basis in both outlook, and Word as well as Excel and
all work well with Windows 10 and Jaws 17.

Hi,
I'm not sure I understand your message based on its current syntax.
However by me with number translation set to some and dollars checked it when
seeing the value as you presented it is reading it at ten dollars and twenty
five cents as it ought.
I hope that helps.

[JAWS-Users] FSOCR Executible File

2015-12-11 Thread East, Robin
Folks, I just found out today that the FSOCR executable file that you need for
the "OCR" portion of JAWS is a different file for each version of JAWS. Only
the "size" of the file changes. The name stays the same. So please ensure when
you down load JAWS you also download the FSOCR file that goes with your JAWS
version. For some reason Freedom Scientific is not changing the name or version
number so the only way to tell is by the size of the executable file. And, no I
do not know if the latest file of the same name is backward compatible with
previous versions.

Maybe in the future they will address this.

Are you running the latest version of iTunes? Sometimes with newer versions of
iOS, Apple requires you to run the latest version of iTunes.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Pointing downloads to correct folder

2015-12-11 Thread Mike B
Hi Neil,

By putting a shortcut to the Downloads folder on the desktop, you only put a
shortcut to the default downloads folder, you did not put a Downloads folder
on the desktop. So, when you press enter on that Downloads folder desktop
shortcut it will take you to the default Downloads folder. Here is the file
path for the default Download folder:

"C:\Users\YourName\Downloads"

If you want your downloads to go to a downloads folder on the desktop, you
need to create a Downloads folder on the desktop then, assign the downloads
to go there from IE. Below are the steps:

From: "Mike O'Brien"
 Hi
While in Internet Explorer, press control+j to open view downloads. Then
tab until you hear options and press enter. Then tab to the browse button
and press enter. Hear you can type the path to the folder you want, or
Shift + Tab, a couple of times to the Tree View, and browse through the
folder list or tree view. When you've
entered or found the folder you want, press enter.
Mike O'Brien

Take care.
Mike

Hello Gang:

Using windows 7 and JAWS 17.

I am helping someone set up a windows 7 computer, which will be converted
to a Windows 10.

I put a short cut for downloads on the desktop. However, I do not know how
to direct downloads to that folder. I downloaded something, which went to
the desktop, instead of the downloads folder.

What are the steps to direct downloads to the downloads folder?

Am sure many of you know the steps. Thanks.

Neil
