This guy is not receiving any messages from the list and he is quite annoyed
about that fact to put it nicely. The problem is that his email account is
not working and as such any email sent to him bounces back undeliverable.

My question is simply does anybody know this guy and have the capability to
contact him to let him know what is going on with his account? Email isn't
working, that much is sure. I could manually subscribe him but since his
email isn't working the server will just kick him off after a couple of days
anyway.

After doing a direct compare of the version from earlier this morning to
what I received this afternoon I must conclude at this point I favor the
first option.

They both work but I'm not certain the second version is working the way
it

is expected, probably more testing is needed.

Never the less the earlier version is the offering on the server right now
since first thing today.

[JAWS-Users] email video links

2016-04-14 Thread Lenny McHugh
I am at the point that I will not view any videos that are sent to me by
links. Twice some unwanted software was installed on my machine. I honestly
believed that it came from watching a forwarded email video link.
I just installed uncheck to help prevent unwanted software from being
installed when you do some updates. Is there anything that will notify or
stop the installation of unsoliced software when bringing up a video link? I
have the vipre firewall and antivirus software running.

i posted this earlier this morning, but maybe it didn't go out, so
here it is again, with some new info

my PC updated yesterday, and now when I’m on IE, and hit any keyboard
key, it says the wrong letter name, but does put the correct letter
where I’m writing. I’m sure this is due to an IE update, but is there
a way to quickly find the IE update, instead of going through all of
my updates? the first 3 updates are for MSOffice. JAWS 12, Win 7

also, i did check and found out that there has been no update on my
os, or ie, plus, when i do eventually get what i'm searching for in
the search box on ie, the page has no headings, so it's a mystery to
me

2016-04-14 Thread Tom Clary
i posted this earlier this morning, but maybe it didn't go out, so
here it is again, with some new info

my PC updated yesterday, and now when I’m on IE, and hit any keyboard
key, it says the wrong letter name, but does put the correct letter
where I’m writing. I’m sure this is due to an IE update, but is there
a way to quickly find the IE update, instead of going through all of
my updates? the first 3 updates are for MSOffice. JAWS 12, Win 7

also, i did check and found out that there has been no update on my
os, or ie, plus, when i do eventually get what i'm searching for in
the search box on ie, the page has no headings, so it's a mystery to
me

This guy is not receiving any messages from the list and he is quite annoyed
about that fact to put it nicely. The problem is that his email account is
not working and as such any email sent to him bounces back undeliverable.

My question is simply does anybody know this guy and have the capability to
contact him to let him know what is going on with his account? Email isn't
working, that much is sure. I could manually subscribe him but since his
email isn't working the server will just kick him off after a couple of days
anyway.

Thanks, Jorge, that's the answer. To elaborate, one way you can confirm the
message was sent is to go back to the edit field and check if the text has
disappeared. Oddly enough, JAWS reports there's text there even if it's
gone, so go inside the edit field to verify. I understand you can also go to
your own inbox and check the "Sent" folder, but I haven't tried that yet.

Note. The first time you press enter, you may only be leaving forms mode, so
a second press might be needed.

I want to send a private message to a Facebook member, not something that
will appear in "chat." From a Google check, I understand that the intended
recipient has to have enabled message sending. I believe this person has,
since there is a button labeled "Message." There's also an edit field. The
instructions I found indicated that after entering text, tab to the "Send"
button. However, I find no such button. I do find buttons that aren't
labeled, along with a "Send money" and one other unrelated send button.

Can anyone say if the unlabeled button that appears after the text field is
the one I want? Any other thoughts?

[JAWS-Users] JAWS Script Install

2016-04-14 Thread David Ferrin
After doing a direct compare of the version from earlier this morning to
what I received this afternoon I must conclude at this point I favor the
first option.

They both work but I'm not certain the second version is working the way it
is expected, probably more testing is needed.

Never the less the earlier version is the offering on the server right now
since first thing today.

in knots installing and activating early versions of Java Access Bridge, which
screenreaders need, is that JAB is now incorporated into Java. You still have
to change a setting in the Ease of Access Center, but it's a simple task.

Between Java and the JAWS insert-escape refresh command, I can now access the
webpage that annoyed me for a month.

Below I'm copying the link to the Java download page and the link to FS's Java
and JAB installation instructions. Note that when downloading Java, you're
encouraged to accept an Amazon and other features that I, for one, don't want
cluttering my system, so be sure to tab through each option as you go through
the installation process. Also, as frequently mentioned on this list, I suggest
saving the file and running it from your system instead of running it from the
website.

I could manually subscribe him but since his
email isn't working the server will just kick him off after a couple of days
anyway.

Well first off I'll have to make sure I understand it as you have explained.

Mind you at least to my way of thinking there is no need to go overboard
with features. Like I said it is great that the thing works, but a backup
feature could be good if say for example the new scripts had some sort of
bug and you wish to revert back to what was previously being used.

not work with windows 10. In order to use windows 10 you need JAWS 16 or 17. I
have Jaws 14, and I can't get windows 10. you can get JAWS 17 license, and
after you install it to your computer, you can get JAWS 16 for free from the

clarifies you regarding windows 10. Hope to hear form you soon. Thanks and God

Kimsan, I did try the mobile version. Here's the problem there, and maybe you
or someone else has a suggestion for this part. The person I located after many
years has a very common name. Let's say it's John Smith, which it isn't.
Through Google, I found what is almost certainly the right regular Facebook
page for that person based on the biographical data there. However, when I
searched for that name on the mobile version, all those thousands of extraneous
people with the same name came up and I couldn't restrict the search terms.

So, any idea how I can find the mobile version of a regular Facebook page?

No complaints here, like I said it works which is something a long time

[JAWS-Users] jaws friendly file duplicate program

2016-04-14 Thread Boston, Jason W
Hi all,
Looking for a easy to use free file duplicate program. I want one that will
look for more than just the file name and give you options on which one to keep
and which one to delete. Being able to do it by settings instead of having to
make a choice for each file would be great.

[JAWS-Users] Solved my jaws 16 vs. 17 hotkey problem

2016-04-14 Thread Kimber Gardner
Hi All,

It took some time and poking around but I figured out the cause of my
inability to reassign control-alt-J from version 16 to version 17.

For some reason, and don't ask me why I did this, I had pinned jaws 16
to the taskbar. So when jaws 17 was running, I actually had two
instances of jaws on my taskbar. Dave, you were right when you said I
probably had two jaws icons hanging around. It was just the taskbar
rather than the desktop where the problem was.

As soon as I unpinned 16 from the taskbar I was able to successfully
assign control-alt-J to jaws 17.

Thanks for all the ideas and suggestions. You guys are the best.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS and Visual Studio text editor

2016-04-14 Thread Southard, Kevin L
When using JAWS in conjunction with Visual Studio 2013 to learn how to develop
applications in C# (C Sharp) I have encountered the following hurdles. Does
anyone have any thoughts/guidance that will assist me in getting over these
hurdles?

1. The text editor has an option to turn on line numbering. Even with the
numbering turned on, JAWS does not 'see' them and therefore does not speak
them. Also, there are some tasks that are completed by entering information
into the line number area which I cannot get JAWS to move a cursor into that
area.
2. When syntax errors are identified, the editor places colored wavy lines
under the source code where the errors exist. JAWS does not recognize these
indicators.
3. On the left hand side of the editor window there is a vertical
line/column where certain indicators are set/displayed. JAWS does not seem to
recognize this column as anything other than a left side boundary. The line
numbers mentioned in the above item are to the left of this column. The odd
thing about this is that JAWS does seem to recognize when things are there
(breakpoint indicators and other indicators related to collapsing and expanding
of blocks of code), but will not allow me to move the cursor there to set the
breakpoint, etc.

If anyone has any information regarding either Visual studio or JAWS 16
settings that I can set to get over any of these hurdles, it would be greatly
appreciated.

Re: [JAWS-Users] What does jaws key + Z do?

2016-04-14 Thread Kimber Gardner
Dave,

Interestingly, on the gmail site when I press jaws key + Z, the only
options I am given are on and off though I have seen the on for all
applications and off for all applications in other apps.

And just to add another twist, I only have this problem on the HP
laptop I use for work and not on my Lenovo laptop I use at home.

I did send a note to FS tech support yesterday. We shall see how they respond.

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS script install

2016-04-14 Thread David Ferrin
Thank you, I will send it up to the server in a few minutes. Also I must
apologies for the volume level of my recording yesterday. When I played it
on my home stereo it was quite loud enough but playing it on this system
with just regular computer speakers I had to crank it up a bit. I record
those things using a USB headset and it was loud enough in my ears, but then
again I don't like headphones to be overly loud. So for the next recording I
will keep all of this in mind. It's all there, just turn up the sound. I
might go ahead and replace it since there is an updated version of the
program.

I do much the same thing in that I have a number of batch files coded to
shutdown the computer anywhere from 5 minutes to 6 hours. It simply involved
multiples of 60. Your method will work just fine because I imagine you set
the batch file to shut things down well after IFW is finished doing its'

work around. I have it set for the simple operation, and can not get it to
turn the computer off when finished.
I had my wife try it without jaws and it worked perfect. At the start page,
the last one, there are power options. I down arrow down to shutdown. It is
highlighted. I tried also to use both the space bar and enter and the option
does not work. If she does it she just takes her mouse down to shutdown and
it works.
Now my workaround is that I have a power off bat file.I start that before or
