In answer to the question of disabling default Windows 10 apps, I certainly
could not improve upon the instructions provided by both Jim Flusche and
David Moore.

Hi,
When you press CTRL+I, you want to right arrow to privacy and press enter.
Then, down arrow to background apps and press enter. Now, tab to one and if
it is off, it will just say button. If it is on, it will say button checked.

Press the space bar to uncheck any that says checked. When you press the
space bar on one to uncheck it, it will take you back to the home button.
You have to tab back through the ones you already checked to get to new
ones. When you are done unchecking the ones you do not want to start, just
exit settings and none of the ones you checked will not come on at start up.

Take care.

Hi Holger,

Is it possible that you are asking about disabling programs at startup the
way it used to be done using msconfig in Windows 7? If so, this is now found
in the Task Manager. Here are some steps to try:

1. Press Control+Shift+Escape to launch Task Manager.
2. Try pressing Control+Tab to move to the Startup Tab. If this does not
work, Tab once to the More Details button and press Spacebar, then try
Control+Tab once again.
3. Once you have used Control+Tab to get to the Startup Tab, Tab once to the
List of Items table.
4. Down arrow through the list.
5. When you locate a program you wish to disable, Tab 3 times. If the option
is to Disable, press Spacebar and shift+Tab 3 times back to the list, down
arrow to another program and repeat the process. If after tabbing 3 times
the option is to enable, then the program is already disabled at startup.
6. Press Escape to close Task Manager.

I hope this is what you were wanting.

Mauricio

Mauricio

just go to www.ninite.com. There you will do a Jaws find for vlc.
Then check the check box and click get installer. then run twice. If
you have firefox, save and run from downloads.

Hi

If you're running Windows 7, 8 or 10, when you change anything in the
automatically start JAWS dialog, you should have gotten a pop-up from User
Account control. You have to choose yes in the User Account control dialog
to have those changes saved since they are in the Windows registry.

unable to help me with.

I installed JAWS 17 with my SMA, and then uninstalled the old version of
JAWS 16 because it was now redundant. But now, when I go into the basics
options dialogue and then the "automatically start JAWS" sub-dialogue, I
activate all of the options for starting JAWS at the log-on screen. However,
when I press okay in both dialogues and go back in, the boxes have been
unchecked. I have done several repair installations (including a complete
uninstall and reinstall), complete virus scans and have fully updated my
Windows OS. None of this has helped, and support has had no other
suggestions. (To be perfectly honest, they have rarely been able to help
with my more specific questions.) Does anyone else have suggestions as to
what I can try next?

Mauricio
