Re: [JAWS-Users] questions about a laptop and jaws . . .

2017-02-08 Thread Nathaniel Kile
Ok, buckle up! To place IE on your desktop do the following. Press the
start/windows key, type in internet and when you hear internet explorer,
pull up the applications key and arrow to go to open file location and press
enter. Once there pull up the application key again and arrow down to send
to, or press the letter N to take you right there, once in the send menu
arrow down to add shortcut to desktop and press enter.
As far as needing to use the FN key, on a Dell you should be able to press
your FN key with the escape key to toggle on and off your F key settings.
This means that you should be able to use your F keys by their selves once
you toggle the FN/escape key combination.

for instance, if I'm using jaws, I can't just use insert f4 to close out the

Hi. Since no one has responded so far, let me give you the Windows 7 answer in
the hope it will lead you to your Windows 10 solution. If I correctly
understand the path you show, you're going to programs from the root of the
hard drive. Instead, press the Windows key, arrow up once to "All programs,"
right-arrow once, then press the first letter of any program name, and then
press j for JAWS. Pressing the right arrow key on JAWS 18 from this point will
open up the menu you want.

Hi Kimsan,

Since I don't use Outlook this is just a suggestion on something to try.
While in Outlook open quick settings, Insert / Jaws key, + v, & arrow down
to, General Mail Settings. This is what I have in my Outllook Express quick
settings under General Mail Settings.

General Mail Settings

Message Header Field With Message Announcement
Web frames and Link Count Announcement
Messages automatically read

Try unchecking the 1st 2 of these 3 checkboxes, & press enter to save your
changes & close. If this doesn't help, then try checking them 1 at a time
to see if playing with any of these settings helps.

Take care.

Braille either. I have been able to get NVDA up and running, using SAPI5,

I am now using Eloquence in Internet Explorer, and have no problems. The
