JAWS will not speak until INSERT+NUM PAD SLASH is pressed again to unlock the left mouse button. This command can be used to drag items from one location and drop them in another. Lately I have not heard about any concerns with the free or paid version of AVG. Does the latest version of AVG work well with Jaws V11? Thanks. Re: [JAWS-Users] CD burning With Media Player 11
Hi David, Read your tutorialand tried to burn a cd, there seems to be no burn tab accessible in Windows 11. It can be seen with the Jaws cursor, but no action can be taken. I burned 7 audio discs with the wizzard after which, the tab choice of: burn an audio or beta is no longer available in the wizard; pressing the next space bar immediately burns a beta cd. Re: [JAWS-Users] CD burning With Media Player 11
Hi Brian, Tried all you suggested, found nothing, the full mode choice was never found. I also tried to burn with the file menu: add to Windows ... still no burn. I previously burned 7 cd's with the wizard, but, now, that does not burn. While using the wizzard, I opened the rw drive, pasted in the music files and tabbed to: select audio or beta burn. Windows media would pop up and I would go through the tabs to: start burn. Sonehow, this method disappeared and now I can only burn beta discs with this procedure. Thanks for your concern, regards, Don - Original Message - From: Brian Lee [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Saturday, October 11, 2008 8:49 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] CD burning With Media Player 11 Hello Don, The CTRL 1 keystroke is just a shortcut for using full mode. The full mode choice is found in the file menu. Use Alt-F and see if it brings up the file menu. If the file menu is presented then press enter on the full mode choice. If a menu doesn't pop up then use the JAWS cursor to check the top of the window to see if there is a menu bar, and if so then use a left mouse button click simulation on the file menu choice. It is the full mode choice and not the full page choice. If the above steps don't work then try to burn a CD starting outside of Windows Mediaplayer. Browse to a folder in Windows Explorer and select the files you want to burn. Make sure they are all audio files that Windows Mediaplayer can burn. When the files are selected press the application key and use down arrow key to the add to Windows Mediaplayer list and press enter. When the music starts playing in Windows Mediaplayer press CTRL P to pause the player. Use tab key to see if there is a burn button and menu at that point. You might also go into the help menu and check for updates to Windows Mediaplayer. Take care. Hit control P and tab through the various options until you come to the one that should announce what printer you have. If that printer is not listed, there is your problem perhaps; the computer is not recognizing your printer. Also, make sure all cabling is tight and that the cabling is in the correct place. You might also try turning off your computer and printer. Then start your computer; after that is started then turn on your printer. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of marie peake Sent: Sunday, August 10, 2008 6:46 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] printer is not printing hi all i have got a problem my printer will not print so work i need to sort out for next week. what should i do. from marie ps i am using a demo of jaws 8 and x p home my printer is a lex mark 1400 secries Visit the JAWS Users List home page at: http://www.jaws-users.com Visit the Blind Computing home page at: http://www.blind-computing.com Address for the list archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com To post to this group, send email to jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help from Mailman with your account Put the word help in the subject or body of a blank message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Use the following form in order to contact the management team http://www.jaws-users.com/managers.php If you wish to join the Blind Computing list send a blank email to the following address: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Visit the JAWS Users List home page at: http://www.jaws-users.com Visit the Blind Computing home page at: http://www.blind-computing.com Address for the list archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com To post to this group, send email to jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help from Mailman with your account Put the word help in the subject or body of a blank message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Use the following form in order to contact the management team http://www.jaws-users.com/managers.php If you wish to join the Blind Computing list send a blank email to the following address: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Visit the JAWS Users List home page at: http://www.jaws-users.com Visit the Blind Computing home page at: http://www.blind-computing.com Address for the list archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com To post to this group, send email to jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help from Mailman with your account Put the word help in the subject or body of a blank message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Use the following form in order to contact the management team http://www.jaws-users.com/managers.php If you wish to join the Blind Computing list send a blank email to the following address: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Visit the JAWS Users List home page at: http://www.jaws-users.com Visit the Blind Computing home page at: http://www.blind-computing.com Address for the list archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com To post to this group, send email to jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help from Mailman with your account Put the word help in the subject or body of a blank message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Use the following form in order to contact the management team http://www.jaws-users.com/managers.php If you wish to join the Blind Computing list send a blank email to the following address: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: [JAWS-Users] Free internet tutorial for download.
Tutorial not available until September 3, 2008. This is the link I tried.. 8) Gene Asner produced an elaborate, high quality tutorial on accessing the web entitled Surfing with Style. He is decided to make this tutorial freely available. He'll provide no tech support on it, and no future upgrades will be made to it, that it will remain usable for a long time to come. Here's the download link: http://www.divshare.com/download/5046375-ece - Original Message - From: Lisa [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Thursday, August 07, 2008 6:41 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Free internet tutorial for download. After long and careful consideration, I have made my Internet tutorial available as a free download. No support will be given and no further upgrades will be made. If people want to work with me for a fee, contact me and we'll discuss it. My prices are more than reasonable. I have made the tutorial available as a free download for two reasons: First, there was not enough interest to justify me doing more work on it to keep it current. It is still very relevant and will remain so for a long time but if I were still charging for it, I would have added new information, such as information about Webvisum and some basic information about using firefox. The second reason the tutorial is now free is because I deeply believe that Internet access is vital to the blind community and the skills needed to use the Internet are not well known nor are they often well taught. I don't want the more than one-hundred hours I put into the tutorial to go to waste and I want to do something about the state of poor Internet use found among most blind Internet users. Unfortunately, the blind community gets, or doesn't get, what it supports or doesn't support. Since there was not anywhere near enough sustained interest in the tutorial as an item to be purchased, I am unlikely to produce more tutorials in the future. I would advise those in the blind Internet community to consider that much valuable material may be lost, not just from me, but from many others who might provide it because of lack of support for such work. A high quality tutorial of this type is generally not going to be produced for free. It requires far too much work and time. Here are two download links. File sharing sites often have temporary problems. If one doesn't work, try the other. http://www.divshare.com/download/5046375-ece http://www.filesend.net/download.php?f=b2fbfd6ebe599f5a9308c4d55084f2c4 The Filesend link may be the easiest and more reliable of the two. Try that link first. Look for the button near the bottom of the page to start the download. It may say download button or just the word button. It may have some code along with the word button but it's the only button near the bottom of the page. It is very important to read the first two sections of the readme file before using the tutorial. Gene! Re: [JAWS-Users] changing .wma files to mp3 files?
Hi Victor, How does the lame encoder fit in with these instructions?? thanks, Don - Original Message - From: Victor Gouveia [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Sunday, September 23, 2007 8:10 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] changing .wma files to mp3 files? Hi Cathy, Below is a brief step-by-step instructional tutorial on how to use the Goldwave batch conversion utility for converting multiple files into the same format. I initially wrote this for someone else, but the steps are the same no matter what version of Goldwave you use. ***original Message*** If you are in the Gold Wave main window, once it opens up, if you press the alt+F to get to the file menu, then press the letter B for batch conversions, it will open up another dialog box that you can do batch conversions with, or you can choose to do just one file, it's up to you. Once in that dialog box, tab to the button that says add, and press the space bar. Another dialog box will pop up, similar to the save as dialog box, so if you know exactly where the file is, go ahead and type it in. If you don't know the exact file location, just do a shift+tab to the window just above the one you're in, and backspace four or five times, or until your screen reader reads out my documents. Once it says that, just go ahead and find the folder where the files are that you want to convert. Once you find the files, go ahead and select them, either, contiguously, or non-contiguously, and tab to the open button and press the spacebar. Once you press the open button, you'll land back on the add button. If you have more files you want to convert, just press the add button and go through what I just outlined above. If you don't have anymore files to convert, you can tab to the check box that says, convert files to this format. Make sure this box is checked, so you can tell it what to convert the files to. Once you check that box, tab down to the combo box that asks you what file type to convert the files to. You must want to select the exact file type for all the files you want to convert. You can't do one file type for some of the files and another file type for another bunch of files you selected. That's why this function is called the batch conversion feature of Gold Wave. You can only convert the files to the same file type. Once you select the file format you want to convert the files to, tab down to the bitrate and frequency selection. I'm going to assume, for time's sake, that you already know all about bitrate and frequency rates, and just continue on from here to the next step. Once you set the bitrate and frequency rates, do a control+tab over to the file locations tab to set where you would like Gold Wave to save the converted files once their done. You have two choices here. You can either choose to save the converted files in their original folders, or save them in a different folder. This I leave up to you, and I can tell you that this tab is pretty much self-explanatory, so go ahead and make your settings as you see fit. Once you've made your selection, just tab over to the button that says begin, and press the spacebar. Once a dialog box pops up, with an ok button, you're files are done converting, and you can just press the ok button. You'll land back on the begin button, so just tab over to the cancel button, then you'll land on the Gold Wave main window. You can just alt+F4 out of that, and you can go delete the pre-converted files. Just make sure you clear your recycle bin, as those files will use up a lot of space on your computer. I would also recommend you check the files for length and bitrate choice, as you can always go back into your recycle bin and restore the files you deleted, so I suggest you check the files before you empty the recycle bin. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask, and I'll endeavour to answer them as quickly as possible.
