It is not an issue with build 5005 of JAWS 14 and IE 10 either. I think I
have 32-bit IE9 somewhere or other. I'll update to the latest build of JAWS
and test with IE10 as well.

Looks like this may be confined to IE9 on Win 7. I also confirmed that there
was not an issue with 14.0.4004. (Two updates back)

When I have a calendar reminder to come up in Outlook 2010 I used to be able

route my Jaws to PC to read the reminder and left click to dismiss it.
This began with Jaws 14 and I am now using the latest build.
Any suggestions?

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS14 HotKey Still Not Working

2012-11-22 Thread Geoff Stephens
In order to accurately troubleshoot the issue, reassign the Windows shortcut
key currently assigned to JAWS to another application so that you can test
it.

Assign it to something like Notepad and test it with JAWS running so that
you will know if there is a conflict. Or, try assigning a different
shortcut that you are certain will work.

What version of windows are you using? I have seen some shortcut key issues
in Windows Vista.

Donnie,

If all else fails, try this.
One
win key+ d or m to get to the desktop
hit the letter j for Jaws icon
enter on it.
First while Jaws is running find where Jaws is on the desktop by using win
key + d or m and hit the letter j and see if it take you to that icon or if
you have to hit j more than once to get there.
And if you have more than one app starting with the letter j you can always
remain the icon so jaws will be the only one starting with the letter j.

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 13 and 14 issue with dynamic forms in IE9

2012-11-22 Thread Geoff Stephens
I am unable to confirm whether the version of IE9 I am using is running in
compatibility mode because it is a customized installation and the
compatibility mode option appears to have been removed from the UI. I will
continue to try to find out as this issue has a significant impact on my
productivity in a couple of applications and I would like to be able to
report it as accurately as possible to insure it is corrected. I'll let you
know if I find out. It is hard to know when the client side update is
complete and thus when to press JAWS + Escape. It is really, really an
irritant.

I have a quick question. We are experiencing a problem with several internal
dynamic web applications when using JAWS 13 or 14 with IE9. If the form is
updated dynamically on the client side via java script JAWS is failing to
see the change in the form and is misreporting form field labels until you
press JAWSkey+esc. This issue does not happen when using FireFox 13. We have
also determined that the problem does not occur unless IE9 is in
compatibility mode. Has anyone else seen this problem and does anyone know
any way of getting around the issue besides JAWSkey+esc?

Re: [JAWS-Users] JFW 14 problem with announcing "application control" after every link and entry

2012-11-10 Thread Geoff Stephens
What I was saying was that, in my very cursory look for all of a few
seconds, there is a link to the ARIA enhanced page. Once you proceed to use
the ARIA enhanced page, you will see the situation you are encountering with
the application control announcements. Unfortunately, I did not see a way
out of the ARIA enhanced version of the Reader after I elected it. But it
didn't seem to be a sticky setting either. So let me see what I can find
out ...

My best hypothesis is that you are probably using a bookmark or favorite to
access the ARIA enhanced Google Reader site.

If you are using Internet Explorer and want to dispense with the ARIA
version of Google reader, stop using the favorite. Type
http://google.com/reader into the address bar and then save the address in
your favorites and use it to access the site.

If, on the other hand, my hypothesis is incorrect, let me know.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Problem with jaws not starting immediatelywhenI boot my PC

2012-09-09 Thread Geoff Stephens
Ifeel your pain.

Here is what I have done to create a sort of work around although I realize
that is not what you want. It's not what I want either.

In my case, JAWS starts before the login just fine. However, once I login
to my primary account, It takes as many as ten minutes to start again.

I decided to make a new account and start fresh. I created that new account
and proceeded to move all my stuff and start over. It took some effort
because the e-mail situation is quite involved with multiple accounts and
different configurations.

Everything appeared to work well at first. But, eventually, and not after
all that long, I started having the same problem with the new account.

I then created yet another account and did not set a password. I did not
give this new account administrator access so that the same changes
(whatever they may have been) that caused the symptoms might not occur.

I discovered that if I choose the account without administrator access
first, JAWS starts after only about ten seconds. I then logoff that account
and login to my old account. JAWS starts in ten to fifteen seconds.

If I logon to the old accounts without first logging on to an account where
JAWS starts as it should, JAWS does not start for a long, long time. If I
first get JAWS started in an uncontaminated account, it will cooperate with
one of the accounts where it is problematic.

This is very frustrating and certainly merits investigation.

Note that the only reason I did not set a password on the account without
administrator rights was to facilitate very fast access. I have no reason
to believe the password is the problem, although it could be. Apparently,
some settings change made by the system or by me is causing the problem. I
have tried uninstalling JAWS and deleting every last remnant that I know
about from all folders and the registry to no avail. I'm really quite tired
of it. But there appears to be nothing I can do to resolve this issue. If
anyone has any suggestions, I would be happy to have them.

Also, just to emphasize, if I wait for JAWS to eventually start in one of
the contaminated acconts, I can login to another of the contaminated
accounts and have JAWS start as it should. It is only after the initial
login that the problem exhibits.

Channels 1-4 for all sites and I'm sure it will be updated as the tournament
progresses.

I had to use Slacker on my Ipod touch. The NCAA site sure isn't real
friendly.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS 13 with Lenovo U300S Ultrabook

2012-01-08 Thread Geoff Stephens
I am considering purchasing a Lenovo U300S ultrabook and am seeking input
from anyone who might be using JAWS with this particular ultrabook or with
other similar configurations. I would also like to hear from those using
JAWS with an SSD about whether this significantly improves performance.

I have also not used a 64-bit operating system and would like to know
whether JAWS' performance with Windows 7 64-bit is degraded compared with
Windows Vista 32-bit or XP.

These are a lot of questions but I have not upgraded my hardware very
recently and want to make sure I don't make a bad decision.

Thanks.
