[JAWS-Users] When Using total recorder, jaws is recorded along with internet stream, how can I prevent this?

2014-10-06 Thread Scott Meyer
Hi
I am Using total recorder 8.5 professional on a laptop, when hitting record
in total recorder then going to the internet feed link I want to record but
then when playing back recording jaws is also captured in recording . on my
old desktop ,recording would only start when stream started.
How can I fix this? contacted total recorder by email ( only way to get
support for total recorder)and they sent me direction when I followed them
but it did not work. is it a driver issue?

[JAWS-Users] How do you access a tab in Microsoft 2007 excel spreadsheet using Jaws 12

I think you are saying that the workbook has multiple worksheets in it and
you want to get into another worksheet in the workbook, and if this is
correct do the following:

Control+Shift+S to open a JAWS dialog box listing all of the worksheets
Control+Shift+in
that workbook.

If my memory is correct, your focus will be on the worksheet at the top of
the list. This list has the first worksheet at the top and the last
worksheet at the bottom. It does not matter what worksheet you were just
working in, every time you open this JAWS dialog box your focus will be at
the top of the list.

Use your up and down arrow keys to move to the worksheet you want and press
enter to open it.

HTH,
Annette

Thanks but I get a error message saying the cell is not big enough .
Thoughts? was it my imagination that you could do a column move in 2003

Hello Scott,

Select the column you want to move by using CTRL+Spacebar. Cut the column
by using CTRL+X. Move to the column currently after the Names column and
use the insert command of CTRL+Shift+=. The column being moved should
appear between the Names column and the column that previously followed the
Names column.

I hope it works for you.

Take care..

Hello Scott,

Use the formula =sum(h2,k2,l2)
There should be no spacing in the formula. You had a space after h2. A
comma follows h2 and k2 but not l2. No plus signs are used in that formula.
You could also just type =h2+k2+l2 again without using the word sum and with
no spacing and no parentheses or commas just a plus sign between h2 and k2
and another one between k2 and l2.

I am not sure what you mean with the second part of your question. You can
copy the content of a cell with CTRL+C and paste it in another empty cell.
I don't think that is what you are meaning though.

Take care.

Scott,

Thanks, looked for this but could not find. Checked and I only have standard
edition, which meets my needs for recording Skype calls. Have you got the
pro version and did this fix work?

Hi
Emailed Total recorder and here is what they said.
Hello Scott Meyer,

out available to me)to the line in of my laptop computer.

If your record player has no "line-out" jack and is connected to your PC
soundcard with a "headset" jack, then most probably you will need to use a
pre-amp or connect your LP player to microphone line of your soundcard
(instead of "line-in").

> but I can not hear what is being recorded.

IN Professional Edition hit the Listen while capturing button (Volume and
Level Panel). This button turns on/off the listen-while-capturing mode. When
the mode is on, all sound captured from the sound board is sent to your
speakers.

Scott,

Glad it is working. Not sure about hearing what you are recording as well
but if you poke around a bit in some of the settings there may be a check
box or something that says allow monitoring or something like that.
This
may allow that. The other alternative I could think of, but now you are
getting into more cost, is running things through a mixer which allows
various input and output device running simultaneously.
I'll look a bit and see if I can find a way next time I'm in Total Recorder
Also, I believe you can upgrade to 8.5 at no charge, not that this will make
a difference in your current concern.
Best,
Al

HTH,
Annette

Hello Scott,

In my message I said that you should use H followed by O followed by W to
get to where you can adjust column width. I forgot to mention that you use
Alt key prior to pressing H. The corrected message is below:

Use Alt followed by H followed by O followed by W, type in the width you
want to use and press enter key. To confirm the change you can use the JAWS
key with F command and the two numbers given at the end of the information
JAWS gives you will be the width and height of the current cell or selection
of cells.
A quick way to confirm is to hold down JAWS key and press F twice, use CTRL
end in the virtual window and then up arrow a couple times to the width and
height information.

Take care.

Hi Scott,

I haven't noticed anyone addressing the basic point to using your "Caps
Lock" on a laptop. Have you set your "Use Keyboard Layout" to Laptop?
>From within the "Option" menu in JAWS, press enter on the "Basics..."
Tab down approximately 7 times until you hear "Use Keyboard Layout".
If you do not have the Laptop chosen, this is where you need to change to
make the "Caps Lock" work.
You can save it in 2 manners at this point. As the "Okay" is the default,
you can hit enter or press tab until you hear "Okay" and then hit enter.

FYI, even if you now use a USB Keyboard with your laptop, the "Caps Lock"
Will continue to work as another JAWS Key. The "Insert Key" will continue to
work also as the JAWS Key...

HTH...

Vinny

Hi Scott.

At first you must run the archive tool in Outlook, so your message folders
and addressbook folder are stored.
Than you should findd
them in your Document's folder, in a subfolder named Outlook-files.

Don't have Office 2007 myself, I am running Office 2010 and 2013, but
hopefully the description work's.

Hans Pauli.

[JAWS-Users] outlook vs Windows live mail

2013-08-14 Thread Scott Meyer
Hi;
using jaws 12 which means that messages are not spoken read or unread. also
cannot select conversation off then expand same subject messages when wanting
to read them all.
my question is does outlook 2010 have these same issues? if not biggest
differences from Windows live mail and outlook? I am a long time user of
Outlook express and was told that Windows live mail was the closest to that
program but solving these issues would make me change if they went away.

Re: [JAWS-Users] how do you turn on the PC cursor on a laptop

2013-08-02 Thread Scott Meyer

Hi;
using Jaws 12. tried using these commands

JAWS key plus P will turn on JAWS cursor jaws key plus bracket (to the
right of P) will route JAWS cursor to PC cursor.

JAWS key plus semi colon will turn on the PC cursor and JAWS key plus
apostrophe will route the PC cursor to the JAWS cursor.

but on my samsung they just say the command.
alt delete does say virtual PC cursor . is the same as the Pc cursor? or
jaws cursor command. I am
trying to label unread graphic in the windows live mail program since Jjaws
12

does not announce that.
Windows Live Mail 2011 Guide
A guide for users of the Jaws screen reader, written by David Bailes.
Labeling graphics
In the Message list, information about a message such as whether it is
unread, or if it has any attachments is indicated by small graphics.
Unfortunately, Jaws 12 does not read any of this information, and the only
information which Jaws 13 or later reads is if the message is unread.

To work around this problem, you can manually label the graphics as
described below. This procedure is only recommended if you're a reasonably
experienced Jaws user. If you're a Jaws 14 user and you label some graphics,
and then Jaws 14 is updated to read the corresponding information, then it's
possible that Jaws will then say this information twice. If this occurs then
you can remove the label, as described in the Removing labels section.

Normally, Jaws does not read unlabeled graphics, so the first thing you have
to do before you can label any graphics is to change a Jaws setting so that
Jaws reads all graphics. Some of the details of doing this depend on whether
you're using Jaws 12, or Jaws 13 or later.

If you're using Jaws 12:

Press Insert + V to open the Adjust Jaws dialog.
In the dialog, a tree view is the initial focus. Press the G key till you
get to Graphics - Labeled.

To change the setting, press Spacebar until this reads Graphics - All.
Press Enter to press the default Close button.
Alternatively, if you're using Jaws 13 or later:

Press Insert + V to open the QuickSetting - Windows Live Mail dialog.
In the this dialog, a search edit box is the initial focus. Type the letter
g, and then press down arrow till you get to Graphics - Labeled.

To change the setting, press Spacebar until this reads Graphics - All.
Press Enter once, which clears the search box, and press again to press the
default OK button.
The following is an outline of how to label an unlabeled graphic. After
this, there are a number of sections which contain more details for labeling
specific graphics.

Select a message in the message list.
Press Insert + Numpad Minus to route the Jaws cursor to the PC cursor. The
Jaws cursor is now positioned over the first name of the sender of the email
If you now press Insert Left Arrow once this moves you to the first graphic
to the left of the senders name. doing this jaws says blank and when I use
insert g it tells me there is no graphic present. Pressing Insert + Left
Arrow again moves you to the second graphic to the left if there is one,
etc.
Once you've moved to the graphic you want to label, press Insert + G to open
the Graphics Labeler dialog.
In this dialog, a Label edit box is the initial focus, and if the graphic is
unlabeled it will contain text such as Graphic 160. Type in a label for the
graphic, for example attachment.
If necessary, press Tab to move to the Braille Label edit box, and type a
braille label.

Press Enter to press the default OK button.
You're automatically returned to using the PC cursor
When you're finished labeling graphics, change the Jaws setting back so that
Jaws only reads labelled graphics

The following three sections give further guidance for labeling the unread,
attachment, and collapsed/expanded graphics. The number of each unlabeled
graphic depends on the windows theme that you're using. The following
information includes the numbers for both the default windows theme and the
classic theme, but if you're using a different theme then the numbers of
unlabelled graphics will be different.

Note that as you move to the left through the graphics, the first graphic is
always a graphic then indicates whether the message is unread, or read, or
something similar.

Unread graphic
If you're using Jaws 13 or later, then Jaws reads if a message is unread,
and there is no need to label the unlabeled graphic.

If you're using Jaws 12, then select a message in the message list. To make
sure it's unread, open its context menu and choose mark as unread. If it's
already marked as unread, then that command is unavailable. The unread
graphic should be the first graphic to the left of the first name of the
sender. The number of the unlabeled graphic for the default Windows theme is
656, and for the Windows Classic theme it's 429.

Hi;
I did a move to another drive and the Move function worked fine. I went
back to the original drive and Move function showed all the folders so I
moved files into a new folder but when I tried to do another move to that
drive it showed only the one folder that I last moved files into. it seems
to reset itself if I move to another drive and it works only once for a

Hi;
I always have caps lock off and when I capitalize First or last names and
then do a spell check it always brings up first names and it sounds like it
wants to capitalize them again.Using Jaws 12 is there a setting that is off or
on that is causing this issue.
maybe it is a dictionary issue, how do I see what in my dictionary list?
any help would be appreciated.

Re: [JAWS-Users] how do you associate a file type to a program?

2011-10-13 Thread Scott Meyer
know how for example when you click on a and this is usually the case
in .mp3 files.
You get the file download do you want to open or save?
I'm not getting that.
Quick time is playing the files instead of winamp. that's what I want.
i want winamp to play the files if I choose to open them.
How do I fix this?
i'm using windows xp and jaws 11. and IE 8.

Randy
From; Jacob Kruger

Would guess that quicktime has taken over the file type association of MP3
files etc.

Simplest fix is to find an MP3 file in windows explorer and right click on
it, choose open with..., choose program and in that dialogue, choose
winamp

from list and make sure checkbox for making it default is checked before
clicking on Ok.

This might not necessarily stop internet explorer from trying to decide
for

itself though, but might.

Stay well

I hope 1 of the notes above has helped or, at least gave you a hard shove
in

the right direction. Take care.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] SendSpace folder Creation Problem with JAWS

I use SendSpace on the web rather than the Wizard. I can no longer create
new folders. When I click the "Create new folder" link, it doesn't work. I
am using JAWS 12 and JAWS 11 with IE 8. Neither one will read the page
correctly, with JAWS 12 reading even less than JAWS 11.

I wrote to Sendspace and asked about this problem and below is the answer
they sent. My questions are regarding the Java Script issue they
mentioned,
as well as any JAWS settings I may need to change to get it to read the
edit
box. How can I make sure that JAVA scripting is turned on correctly? Here
is

the SendSpace reply:

You go to My Files and click on 'Create New'. If nothing happens when you
do
that, please try with another browser because it may be a JavaScript
issue.

What is supposed to happen is that a box appears where you will enter the
new
folder name.

Once you create and select a folder then we show the link for the folder
options.

Once you have a folder created, if you click on a file name, an edit box
appears
and you can change the folder it is in.

Hi Scott;

If I'm understanding your message correctly, you don't need to have the
subject option checked to have the group messages by conversation work.
Here is how I have my view sub-menus setup to get my messages grouped &
sorted by the time received, with newest messages at the top.

1. While in Outlook Express with no messages open. Alt +V, for the view
menu.
2. Press enter on current view.
3. Press enter on group messages by conversation, to check the box & take
you out of the menus.
4. Press Alt + V, again to open the view menu.
5. Arrow down to, sort by, & press enter.
6. Arrow down the list & press enter on received. This will check the box
&

take you out of the menus.
7. Alt +V, again, & press enter on, sort by.
8. Arrow down to , descending, & press enter to check the box & take you
out

of the menus.

If I'm not mistaken, the group messages by conversation option,
automatically uses the subject line criteria to group the messages. It's
the

other choices in the sort by submenu that dictates the way messages are
sorted / showing in your folders. If I haven't confused the hell out of
you

I hope this helped! LOL Take care.

Would let them know that the flash on that page is done wrong to code.
that is why you get the message and the page don't show any links. The
flash is not letting it move on to the rest of the page.
If they want a web page done right. Don't use wix.com it don't do flash
good.
I looked at the source and wix.com is all over it, and even checked out
that site. There are better, send them to wordpress.com. Least it does
decent pages.

Hello Scott,

The cells won't be automatically merged. If the cells were copied as
merged
cells then that is the way they will be pasted. Excel doesn't
automatically

merge cells to allow for expansion of an individual cell. You can remove
the merge by going to the merged cells, pressing CTRL+1, moving to the
alignment page tab by using CTRL+tab key if necessary, and using the tab
key

to the checkbox for merging cells. Use spacebar to check or uncheck the
checkbox. This might cause data not to print right or to not be shown in
the worksheet. There are a few scenarios. You might try removing the
merge, using CTRL+1 to go back into the cell formatting dialog, going back
to the alignment page tab, and using the tab key to the Wrap Text
checkbox.

Checking that box will cause text to wrap in the cell according to column
width. If text wraps in the middle of a word or where you don't want it
to
wrap then use F2 to go into the editing of the cell, move to the place
where
you want a line break within the cell and use Alt enter to force a new
line.

I find that this approach generally works well. You can also set column
width to automatic, but sometimes even though column width is set to
automatic, the results are not what you want. Sometimes, adjusting cell
height and using automatic column width works. However, being that this
is

in just one area of your worksheet, you might find that removing the merge
and then just editing by adding the manual line breaks will do what you
want.

Feel free to Email me if you want me to clarify any of the above points.

Take care.

I select a file to move into a folder on my e drive and Jaws will show all the
folders in my 2nd drive as it should. The next time I go and do a Move my e
drive says 1 folder and that's the last folder I did a move to. I can shut down
my computer and try it again and it still says 1 folder. think the only way I
get around this is to go to my external drive and do a move and when I go back
to the e drive and do a move it shows all the folders again( I say think
because I only have my external drive for a week.). A sighted person said that
using right mouse click opens the preview pane but I have not had any success.
Maybe I am using the wrong key commands? What is the command for Right mouse ?
thanks for any help.

Scott

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Does anyone know of a shareware program to Backup
a external drive?

Hi.
The best program i've found is Sync Toy made by microsoft. it has 3
backup modes, echo, syncranise and Contribute. Its freeware.
the functions it offers are as follows: Synchronize

The synchronize action will make two folders mirror each other, keeping
the latest changes made to the files in either folder. New and updated
files are
copied both ways. Renames and deletes on either side are repeated on the
other. Folder Creates, folder deletes and folder updates are also
propagated both

ways.

For example, you have two computers. You keep a copy of pictures,
documents, and/or tunes on both. Changes often occur on both computers.
You want SyncToy
to notice additions, deletions, changes, and renames on both computers,
and then do the right thing to bring the folders back in sync. Synchronize
is the

SyncToy action to use.
list of 5 items
. Every file in the left folder that is new or changed is copied to the
right folder.
. Every file in the left folder that has been renamed is renamed in the
right folder.
. Every file that was deleted from the left folder is deleted in the right
folder.
. Note: SyncToy does not actually delete any files by default. It merely
moves the files to the Recycle Bin. To change this behavior, uncheck the
"Save
overwritten files in the Recycle Bin" option in the folder pair option
window.

. The process is repeated for files in the right folder.
list end

Echo

The echo action will make copies of files that are new and changed on the
left to the right. New and updated files are copied left to right.
Renames and
deletes on the left are repeated on the right. Folder creates, folder
deletes and folder updates on the left are repeated on the right.

For example, when you travel, you take a copy of your pictures, tunes, and
documents to work on. When you return, you want SyncToy to notice the
files you
added, changed, deleted, and renamed in the left folder, and you want
SyncToy to recreate those additions, changes, deletions, and renames in
the right

folder. Echo is very similar to
Synchronize,
except Echo works only left to right.

Echo is the SyncToy action to use.

list of 7 items
To change this behavior, uncheck the
"Save
overwritten files in the Recycle Bin" option in the folder pair option
window.

. No left folder files are deleted, or renamed.
. No files are copied from right to left.
. Right folder files are deleted.
list end

Contribute

Contribute will add changes from the left folder to the right folder. New
and updated files are copied left to right. Renames on the left are
repeated on
the right. No deletions. Folder creates and folder updates on the left are
repeated on the right

For example, you have a compact flash, SD, USB thumb drive, or other
removable media that you take with you when you travel. You probably
delete some files
on the removable drive while you are away so that you can add or change
other files. When you get back, you only want SyncToy to recognize new,
renamed,
and changed files, and you want the new stuff copied to the right folder.
Contribute is the same as

Echo
but without the deletes.

Contribute is the SyncToy action to use.

list of 4 items
. New and updated files from the left folder are copied to the right
folder.

. Files renamed in the left folder are renamed in the right folder.
. No files are deleted.
. No files are copied from right to left.
list end
You can download this here either for 32bit or 64bit:

HiScott,
Try changing your display to 1024 by 768, and highest 32-bit if available.
After you make the changes, and okay the dialogue, reboot the machine.

Re: [JAWS-Users] reply to sender in Jaws 9

2008-01-31 Thread Scott Meyer
Hi Denny
When you said it works did you actually send a email? That's where my
problem is, outlook express does not recognized the email address and puts
me into the address book to add a new contact or go to contact list for a
name.
Regards
Scott

[JAWS-Users] Mp3 splitter program

2008-01-14 Thread Scott Meyer
Hi Dave
Went to website and download mp3 clip and can't get it to save file .use
Debbie helpful hints with no luck..More importantly it's only good for 4
splits and then you have to buy it. When I email the person who wrote the
program his email came back.this program was nice because it use winamp jump
to make the split.anyone have any suggestions for a mp3 split program.
downloaded the other program on website and it was not as easy to use. Have
total recorder but can't figure out how to fast forward or split a file also
have goldwave but when fast forwarding through file it crashes Jaws.
regards
Scott
