you can probably install them, but you would have to recompile them for that version of jaws. At 02:30 PM 9/4/2009, you wrote: Hello; Listers, I have a question. Re: [JAWS-Users] I have a question
Hi, I have a question too that maybe, someone can help me with. I'm looking for a JAWS manual (Getting Started) something that would have all the keyboard commands for JAWS that would also give key commands for internet explorer, when surfing the internet...however, I need this in large print, text, not audio. I went on the Freedom Scientific site to see if I could find anything but didn't have much luck as I didn't know how to phrase my search question intelligently enough to get the results I need. Can anybody help? Thanks in advance. Hi Fina, If you can print this out yourself and enlarge the font a bit in Ms-Word, Notepad or Wordpad, the commands are all in the JFw help system. If your JFw runs in the system tray press JawsKeyPlusJ followed by h, then k. If not: Alt plus tab to the Jaws Window, alt plus h followed by K. >From there you select the book you want in the tree view (expanding the books with the right arrow or collapsing them with left arrow). press enter on the book you choose and then F6. This brings you to a web page containing lists of keystrokes which you can copy to your clipboard. You press F6 again to get back to the tree view where you can pick another book of commands to print out. You can append subsequent lists to the clipboard with WindowsKeyPlusC and build yourself quite a nice reference sheet of keyboard commands. Hi Fina, on the FS website, there is a tutorial on using Jaws with the internet called "surfs up"(not sure if that should be one word and if there is an apostrophe for the word surf's". I also don't remember if it is a text file or a podcast? I could do with a refresher myself, and so might hunt it down too smile. Hope that helps. Re: [JAWS-Users] I Have a Question About Jaws and Accounting Software
have a read of this I got it a few days ago might be something that could help Sightless accounting Written by NetGuide Contributor Monday, 16 February 2009 In what is believed to be a world first, a New Zealand software company, Accomplish Ltd, has created accounting software specially modified to enable efficient use by the blind and visually impaired. "We're told this is the first accounting software in the world that has stood up in user tests by blind people," said the company's general manager, Grant Hewson, at the launch of the 2009 edition of its CashManager software. "Obviously, this is attracting a lot of interest from organisations serving the blind and visually impaired, not only in New Zealand, but also in Australia, the United Kingdom and the USA. "It's really an example of Kiwi ingenuity helping to solve a global problem in terms of providing good access to the benefits of modern technology for blind people, as well for the movement impaired." LINK: http://nz.accomplishglobal.com/ The accessibility of the product is endorsed by Neil Jarvis, Executive Director, Access, Innovation and Enterprise for the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind, who comments: "We welcome any move which improves accessibility and equality for blind and partially sighted people," Jarvis adds: "In December last year, we undertook a software audit of CashManager 2009, examining a series of tasks by sighted and blind testers who don't usually use financial software. It worked well with adaptive technology software and, in terms of accessibility, we're happy to recommend the product to blind or partially sighted people for managing their small business finances." Jarvis explains that blind people use screen reading software which verbalises letters or numerals as they are typed, and verbalises the position of the cursor in pull-down menus or in dialogue or command boxes. Screenreaders and magnifiers are also used by people who are partially sighted, along with font, colour and contrast enhancements. The software's development has been assisted by blind entrepreneur Terry Bartlett, of Dunedin (pictured above), who stumbled on CashManager while searching the Web for accounting software he could use when he started his own business two years ago. "I was taking a big risk going out on my own, and it was pretty scary," recalls the Managing Director of Corner Enterprises Ltd. "I didn't know how I was going to be able to write quotes, or send out invoices, let alone handle money, reconcile bank accounts, keep track of GST and taxes and so on." Bartlett's business is based around teaching clients touch typing, designing Web pages, providing advice on IT and accessible technology, as well as assisting customers with property management and even organising coal and firewood deliveries. Over time Bartlett jotted down ideas on how Accomplish could make the software even better for the blind or visually impaired user. "They responded very positively," he says. Hewson says Bartlett helped the company realise there was a new niche market for its software. "Our technical and programming people were only too pleased to make the improvements he was suggesting, many related to everyday use by someone who is blind or visually impaired. "Whilst driven by the needs of blind people, the changes suggested by Terry and the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind have resulted in enhanced usability for all keyboard users. The changes indirectly benefit those with occupational overuse syndrome, limited mobility or simply a preference for using the keyboard," adds Hewson. Originally founded in Australia almost 20 years ago, Accomplish today is headquartered in Auckland and serves some 25,000 small to medium business enterprises with accounting software designed specifically for New Zealand, Australian and United Kingdom needs. [JAWS-Users] I have a question about C dex and jaws 17 beta
Hello all, I have just upgraded to windows 10 professional, and today I installed the public release of jaws 17. I'm very impressed. Now, I however have a very odd problem with a CD ripping program, C dex. I tried to install with jaws 16. When I installed, it completely, totally crashed my jaws. I had to do a jaws repair with narrator, completely uninstalled C dex and the narrator voice in windows 10 is very clear. Now, is this a bug in jaws 16 with C dex or has this been fixed with jaws 17? This was very frustrating because I got a lot of DLL errors too when I installed C dex. I tried the latest version of c dex 1.75 but there's no 64 bit version, to the best of my knowledge. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated indeed. Thanks much! Maheen. For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

I hope I have posted this right. I had thought at one time there was a way to do this, but I may be wrong. I am using, JAWS 14.0.6005, IE 10, and Windows 8. Hi Rick, Ok, I took a look at that check box, and it was checked. I did uncheck it, so we'll see what happens. Thanks for the help. Re: [JAWS-Users] I have a question about C dex and jaws 17 beta
Dear does this program deals with any kind of scripting? If so, then please wait until second public Beta of jaws 17 comes out. If you believe that it has nothing to do with script, then fault lies either your program Cdex or your windows 10's support of accessibility. Maheen. Re: [JAWS-Users] I have a question about C dex and jaws 17 beta
The fact that you had errors during the installation of CDEX would suggest that it will not run on your system in Windows 10. I am doubtful that it is a problem with Jaws.
