[JAWS-Users] JAWS 12 Video/Control Backspace Problem, Sony VAIO Laptop
Hello everyone, I am using JAWS 12.0.1161 on a Sony Vaio VPCS131 laptop running Windows 7 64-bit. When I press control backspace to delete a word, I get no feedback from JAWS. This has been an ongoing problem since I got the laptop in January. I decided to call FS today to see if they could help, and was informed that the problem was likely due to the integrated graphics hardware on my computer. I have an Intel HD Graphics card, and the latest drivers are installed. I have tried disabling the Intel HD Graphics driver and doing a repair on JAWS, and the problem still exists. I also have NVIDIA graphics software on my computer, but uninstalling that did no good. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I might do to fix this problem, or am I esencially out of luck? Thanks, Michael For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

That's interesting. I also have Intel ® HD audio/video/graphic drivers and never had an issue. Are you sure its not something with the video intercept manager? Hi George, I'm honestly not sure. I have tried reinstalling JAWS with no luck. When I go into the utilities menu, it says that the video intercept manager is unavailable...not sure what to make of that? I am experiencing the same problem. I discovered the root cause when I attempted to run the Video Intercept setup program and it failed. It turns out that I need to reload all the video drivers before I can reinstall the video intercept. The problem is maddening. Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 12 Video/Control Backspace Problem, Sony VAIO Laptop
Yes. Its a video intercept issue. For some odd reason Video Intercept isn't working which means JFW won't be able to read things properly. Very odd though because like I said I have Intel ® HD and it doesn't give me any problems. Maybe try calling Intel? FS couldn't fix anything? Or maybe you have more then one graphics card and the manager can't read which one is the right one? On Jun 21, 2011, at 2:28 PM, Michael Hansen wrote: Hi George, I'm honestly not sure. That's odd. What drivers do you have though? Or do you have to *update* or *reinstall the drivers? Again, odd issue but it could be. Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 12 Video/Control Backspace Problem, Sony VAIO Laptop
Hi guys, I uninstalled and reinstalled the Intel HD Graphics driver yesterday and that did not fix the problem. I uninstalled the NVIDIA driver yesterday but was not able to find the necessary driver on Sony's website to reinstall it. One of the people I talked to at FS yesterday suggested that the problem might be because of the integrated graphics--JAWS would not know what version to lock on to. Update...as I typed this and used control backspace, I did get some speech feedback, but it did not always accurately reflect the word I was deleting. I had uninstalled IE 9 and am now using IE 8. In AOL Instant Messenger, though, I still get no audible feedback when pressing control backspace. I thought you just said that Video Intercept unavailable didn't matter in Vista/7 because they didn't use that. Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 12 Video/Control Backspace Problem, Sony VAIO Laptop
Yes it really doesn't important but if you get this message, there is a problem with the FS new display driver that shows up in the device manager that they are using instead of the video intersept with Vista/7. -Original Message- From: jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Jorge Paez Sent: Tuesday, June 21, 2011 11:02 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 12 Video/Control Backspace Problem, Sony VAIO Laptop I thought you just said that Video Intercept unavailable didn't matter in Vista/7 because they didn't use that.
