It takes more than that to ruffle my feathers so to speak.

Never the less I do not know as of now as I am shipping out a system I setup
for a family member this morning.

Even though it is not true it does seem like there is another system sitting
on my desk often enough.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] recording with jaws

Hi,

I would like to record a podcast of sort but I'm unsure of how to not have
jaws be heard during the recording of the podcast.

I'm using a windows 10 machine, I have audacity, total recorder and virtual
recorder to experiment with.

I'm at an understanding that jaws will need to run on another soundcard?

So, I have a sabrent external sound card, and during the recording I will be
wearing a logitec wired headset.

Does anyone have suggestions on how I can perform the above with any of the
programs I've listed?

I hope none of the suggestions will include jaws in one ear via another
headset and the recording being done via another headset, as I only have 1
ear to work with as I'm deaf in the other ear.

Thank you for reading and for any suggestions.

Respectfully,

I think I'm almost there, but when you say: "the microphone is set to be the
default recording device." Do you mean the USB audio techneca or the USB
logitec headset to make default under the recording tab.

You go to the jaws utilities sound card sub menu and direct jaws to the
headset. Leaving your internal card as the default play back. Also make sure
that the microphone is set to be the default recording device. That sounds
to me like the way to .

You're correct.
I also have an audio techneca microphone I can use as well, which I only
mention so people reading will know what all I have to work with.

So to have jaws come over the USB logitec headset so the internal speaker
will not pick it up, how do I accomplish this?
Do I go to sounds/play back or recording under CTRL panel and select the
headset to be the default and under also under the soundcard option and
select the headset as well to accomplish this?
I'm really digging total recorder, so I might be using it for my recording.
Since I just purchased the program last night, not sure if this program can
do things like goldwave/audacity as it pertains to mixing.
Speaking of mixing, when I was researching how to resolve my issue, I went
to the audio page, listened to your what you hear recording, but it was the
exact opposite of what I wanted to do. That's not my point though, I also
saw a power mixer tutorial on there and it sounded cool, and you can't beat
$17.95, but not sure how old that tutututorial was and if power mixer works

You want to record yourself but not JAWS. It sounds like if JAWS comes over
the external speaker then the microphone will pick it up. You might need to

jaws be heard during the recording of the podcast.

I'm using a windows 10 machine, I have audacity, total recorder and virtual

I'm at an understanding that jaws will need to run on another soundcard?

So, I have a sabrent external sound card, and during the recording I will be
wearing a logitec wired headset.

Does anyone have suggestions on how I can perform the above with any of the
programs I've listed?

I hope none of the suggestions will include jaws in one ear via another
headset and the recording being done via another headset, as I only have 1
ear to work with as I'm deaf in the other ear.

Thank you for reading and for any suggestions.

If you want to record skype conversation, I think virtual audio or other
skype recording such as mp3 skype recording are better. For audacity, not
sure that I understand you correctly, but if you want to record without
recording jaws, just make jaws speech in headphone or headset.

Re: [JAWS-Users] recording with jaws

2017-03-23 Thread Dang Manh Cuong

Hi
If you want to record skype conversation, I think virtual audio or other
skype recording such as mp3 skype recording are better. For audacity, not
sure that I understand you correctly, but if you want to record without
recording jaws, just make jaws speech in headphone or headset.

Hi,

I would like to record a podcast of sort but I'm unsure of how to not

I'm using a windows 10 machine, I have audacity, total recorder and
virtual

I'm at an understanding that jaws will need to run on another soundcard?

So, I have a sabrent external sound card, and during the recording I will
be
wearing a logitec wired headset.

Does anyone have suggestions on how I can perform the above with any of
the
programs I've listed?

I hope none of the suggestions will include jaws in one ear via another
headset and the recording being done via another headset, as I only have
1

ear to work with as I'm deaf in the other ear.

Thank you for reading and for any suggestions.

This sounds very interesting to me. Howdo you utilize a second sound card that
way. It sounds better than any solution I have come up with.

I have always believed that the best course of action is to just obtain a
basic USB sound card and set JAWS to use it. This allows you to have
everything else come over your default card. This can be done for under $30

Hello,

I was finally able to have my wife read the label for me on my phone
recorder.

It is the Tele-Recorder model TR-50.

It is a little box less than the length of my little finger, about as thick
as my little finger and about as wide as my thumb.

There are no moving parts, buttons or switches. It just has a wire coming
out of each end; One wire plugs into a phone jack and the other wire plugs
into a recorder line input.

I have it plugged into a splitter on the phone jack and my Book port Plus
and use it in the same way I would when recording anything else. The only
thing to note is that you have to set the record input to external mike
rather than line-in. This is because the level of the phone signal is very
low.

Hope this helps,

Reed

[JAWS-Users] recording your own voice along with your screen reader

2015-09-28 Thread David Ferrin
I just finished recording my mini tutorial as it is only at this point
around 90 seconds long. Then again there wasn't a lot of material to cover.
I'll edit it and get it on the server this evening some time under the
windows heading on the audio page.

[JAWS-Users] recording in windows 10

2015-09-25 Thread David Ferrin
I was fairly certain I could record both my voice and screen reader at the same
time because I did it the other day. Unfortunately this afternoon I haven’t
been able to reproduce the same action. I could still do my tutorial on another
system covering live mail 2015 which works the same no matter of the operating
system. I would do it over tandem which I have done several over the years
because this system is the only one that has live mail installed on it.
Then again I keep dosing off so things might have to wait until next week, I’m
not sure right now.

2015-06-10 Thread Rick Justice
Hi Tom,
You will have to have some type of microphone to record your voice,
there has to be some type of input to the soundcard, and associated
recording software.
Your desktop pc should have at least one microphone jack, either front or
rear.

2015-06-10 Thread wayne smith
I have a great little gadget from Radio Shack. It connects to the base
where the handset cord plugs in then you plug in the handset cord to this
gadget. It has another cord with a standard mini plug that you plug into
the jack on your recorder. You can record both sides of the conversation.
Mine is old so I don't think JAWS will do you any good (smile).

Since most Radio Shack stores are closing you may have to shop online.

Tom,

Som laptops have a microphone next to the built in web cam just above the
screen. On a desktop computer, you do not have this. A pretty good
microphone can be had for around $10 on Ebay or Amazon.

Just give the skype number to all the important calls you have to record.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Recording thumb drive

2014-04-30 Thread David Maynard
Hello;

I received three replies to my inquiry and I will try to address all of them
here.

1. I renamed the file but the dates of creation and modification did not
change. The last date accessed did change to today.

2. The item looks just like any other thumb drive with a small slide on/off
switch at the end. I am not sure where it was purchased, but I believe it
was where I bought an atomic watch and a metal signing guide. It has USB
Disk Recorder on the side. My wife got several hits for that on Amazon.

3. I believe all the documentation that came with it was just operational
instructions on a small sheet.

It charges while plugged into the computer and will record up to 15 hours
when charged. The price, I believe, was $45 to $50. The only thing
negative I can say about it is that there is no instant play back without a
computer as there is with a tape recorder.

Thanks to all,

Dave

Yes, I want to record my voice along with JAWS, but as importantly I
want to for instance, record the audio from youtube, record pages as
JAWS reads them aloud, and so on. I've tried using the SoundMax mixer
in Windows, but I can't seem to get it to work. Thanks.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Recording JAWS while it speaks, and other PC audio?

2013-06-22 Thread Dang Manh Cuong

Hi
If you are using GoldWave and windows 7, you can do the folowing steps to
record pc audio (sometimes called streaming)

1. Start GoldWave
2. Control properties (f11)
3. Ctrl+tab to record tab, and tab to the recording combo box
4. Choose loopback from the combo box
Note: If you connect multiple sound card to your pc, each one have a
loopback. You should check to make sure you choose the correct sound card
which you want to record from.
If you want to include your voice or something from microphone, then open
speacker from system tray, choose recording devices, choose the microphone
which you use to record, then tab to find properties button, and spacebar to
activate it.
Now Ctrl+tab to the listen tab, then check the box called listen to this
device. You will hear your voice through head phone, and you'll be able to
record using GoldWave

Hope that help

It still baffles me why windows 7 disables that stuff by default.

[JAWS-Users] Recording a tutorial in Windows 7

2012-09-16 Thread David Ferrin
I don't recall if I posted this before or not, if memory serves some folks
are interested in this little trick so without further delay:

Recording a tutorial in Windows 7

Go to sounds in control panel. Control tab around to the recording tab. Go
to the list of recording devices. Probably only microphone is shown in
this list. Press the context key and go in and enter on show disconnected
devices and make sure it is checked. Do the same for show disabled
devices, that is make sure it is checked.

Now, stereo mix should appear in your list along with microphone
highlight stereo mix and go in to the context menu again and enter on
enable. Verify that it is enabled by going into it's properties and
selecting use this device tab to ok button and enter.

On my system the sound quality is not what I would like for some strange
reason. With luck and a faith healer I might figure it out some fine day.

[JAWS-Users] Recording a voice mail message accessibly with Skype 5 and JAWS

Any information would be great!

Well Total Recorder did not solve my direct recording is from the
sound card vs. microphone. In fact, when I tried to use the software
option in total recorder 6.1 I got the following error message:

Recording in Software mode is not possible because of certain
qualities of your sound board or the software you have installed for
the sound board.

Prior to upgrading from XP to Windows Seven this was never a problem.
On the Web I read that some types of direct recording from the sound
card has been removed from Windows Seven and Vista. Glad I have a
Netbook that still has XP. I will put GoldWave and Total Recorder on
there and hopefully I should be good to go.

Did u select only , repeat only, the 'Kernel filter...' driver during

2010-08-06 Thread chris hallsworth

Hi all,
This gentleman claims to be using 6.1. If the claim is true, then:
1. Only the user mode virtual device driver is available; no option
would appear during installation because of this. The Kernel Mode
drivers appeared starting from 7.0.
2. The program would only work for XP. If he's trying to use it under 7
then this could explain his problems.

Re: [JAWS-Users] recording with GoldWave

2010-08-05 Thread chris hallsworth

Hi all,
I am having the same issue. I am considering using Total Recorder to
record things like this. With this program it comes with special drivers
that directly captures the output from the sound card, including speech
from your screen reader. There is also an add-on (free) that allows you
to simultaneously record from both a microphone and one of its drivers.
Very ideal if you are doing podcasts or game reviews or whatever. If you
want you can try a no cost evaluation version from
www.totalrecorder.com. It is fully functional with the addition of an
audible noise inserted about every sixty seconds in each recording. A
registration key will remove this addition.

Hope this helps any or all of you.

[JAWS-Users] Recording in or converting to SWF format

2009-11-05 Thread Stewart A Overbey, Jr.
Hello all,

I'm involved with a project on courseware development. I'm wanting to augment
the printed text of the lesson with an recorded audio. I can record using a
couple of recording softwares I have, but, none of them record in SWF, or what
I assume is Shockwave format.

Does anyone know how to convert, or software that is accessible, inexpensive,
and will record in SWF format.

Blessings to all of you.

Re: [JAWS-Users] recording with goldwave and jaws

2009-05-01 Thread Darrin Porter
Andrew,

The user's manual has a very easy to follow, step-by-step list of instructions
for doing this. Actually, it is for recording records, but the procedure is
the same for just about any type of recording. The manual is very well
written. It is a fully linked HTML document and is in the Goldwave directory.
I think you can get to it through the help system, but I prefer to open it in a
separate window so that I can alt-tab between it and the actual program when
I'm trying to learn how to do something so that I can experiment.

The only thing I don't like is that I can't figure out how to monitor the
recording, e.g., hear what's going on. I don't know if this is a limitation of
the program, my sound card, or what. This makes it difficult to know, for
example, when the part of the tape, album, etc. you're interested in is over.
I currently do it by timing. The editor is so easy to use that trimming off
unwanted material is a snap. I just let the tape, album, etc run longer than I
know the piece I'm interested in is and then stop the recording and trim off
the unwanted parts.

Also, it makes it a little difficult to set the recording levels. But that can
be done by experimentation.

That is a bug in the realtek chip set. many have ben replacing it
with either a different internal sound card or external sound device.
This might help you. make sure in the sound properties that on the
playback side the mic is checked, and hit alt key, arrow up to
properties. Now tab and arrow to recording. Tab again and make sure
the mic is checked to show, then hit ok. Now tab to mic and set
level, check to turn on and if you want play with the advance button.
To see if the mic boost does better on or off.
if the mic is one in the playback side. you will hear yourself in the
speakers. Witch you don't want for recording.

The background sound your picking up is the note book itself. i don't
think its getting the sound from the mic, but through the electronics
 in the chip its self.

At 12:05 AM 3/27/2008, you wrote:

my mike is a new one, and it is working fine.
the problem is, if I make the microphone boost option to 0, then the white
noise is low. but even the recorded volume becomes very low.
and if I set it to 50 % or even 100 % then the recorded voice's volume is
good, but the white noise is very high, higher than the recorded voice.
this makes the recordings very difficult to listen.

Hi, I have a realtek card and had a similar problem. It picked up my

  anything)
  but
not my talk! ok, bad joke. Anyway, go to the system tray by pressing
  jaws
key f11 and select realtek hd audio manager. you will get a context

select sound manager. Press shift tab several times and you should
  get a
list of tabs. Select your microphone (it may have graphics in front

  the

  the
first slider is a balance slider, make sure it is set to 50% and hit
  tab.
Set this slider to 100 and hit tab again. you should get a mic boost
  button,
press enter and you will get a slider. Again make sure it's at 100

  hit
enter. You may now close the sound manager. If the sound manager
