you also have to go through the list if there is one and choose the live mail
program from a list.

Hello Jery,

I am using Windows 8.1, but I should think the steps to repair Windows live
mail is similar.

Go to programs and features and arrow down, or use first letter navigation,
to windows esentials. Go to the context menue and you should find something
like uninstall/change, press enter. You will find buttons using tab, and
there will be one that says repair.

I hope this helps.

With WLM open press, Insert / Jaws key, Control, + V, and Jaws should read
what version of WLM is running, and for the other question, make sure the

I have two questions regarding Windows Live Mail. First of all, I have
attempted to find out which version of WLM I have, without success. Could
anyone enlighten me on how to do this?

Second, again using WLM, I am having a frustrating issue. Whenever I am in
my inbox, I will open a message, but JAWS will not read the message; with
the exception of sometimes using the jaws cursor. Any ideas or suggestions?
I am using JAWS 2018 and Windows 10 OS on a Dell laptop. Many thanks in

Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows Live Mail [Discontinued]

2018-04-28 Thread net bat66

yes it was. just because its discontinued doesn't mean it stopped working.
i will continue to use window eyes until it stops working.
it works perfectly fine with all of the programs i have on my computer. jaws
does not. even for little things.

like not telling me the status of my wlm messages.
not reading the subject line in the message list when there is only 1 message
in the list without haveing to use the arrow keys to get this info.
not haveing the choice to speak your key strokes when entering passwords in
firefox and i e.
i get tired of haveing to type them in note pad and pasteing them into the
password field.

i can not concentrate on my keys when it is also saying star, star, star.
window eyes does not show the passwords on the screen when it is speaking the
keys i press.
most jaws users that are working would be useing headphones so no one would
hear the passwords anyway.

vfo told me they would refuse to do this because it is a security risk.
i say for me, at home alone not a business this would not be a security risk.
not telling me where i am in windows folder files.
like i am on the tenth out of 100 files in the list. i have to tab away and go
back into the list to get this info.
not being able to change voices on the fly without haveing to open a voice
profile to do this.
for many people, not being able to change the volume or pitch on the fly. i
can change the voice volume now with version 2018. i have been able to do these
things with window eyes for the last 10 years.
why can't jaws do these things? they have been around longer then window eyes
was.

Good evening;
when you say windows live mail,
are you talking about the windows live mail which has been discontinued by
Microsoft?
the one which is never to be updated?
or are you talking about the windows mail app, with windows 10.
if it's the windows live mail,
the autofill will never work, because there's no jaws scripting, so, even
the NVDA doesn't autofill.
if your talking about the windows 10 mail app, again there's no jaws
scripting, however with the NVDA, there's a windows essentials add-on which
works well.

With a lot of help from David Whitehead, my Outlook 2016 is working. But the
auto complete isn't so basically, I suppose there's still something
corrupted. The Microsoft person told me that he'd emptied auto complete, and
that if I write the first few letters and press control K, I'd get a list of
relevant addresses from which I could choose. I tried that just now with my
daughter's address and the list the control K brought up was completely
irrelevant. And I still have to paste in the correct address for the DB
Review list. David helped me upgrade to Jaws 2018 and we got rid of the to
Miriam folder,so I think that auto complete is just not going to happen,
except for the blind democracy list for some unknown reason.

while in windows live mail have you went into the adjust jaws settings,
insert+v,
now arrow down and make sure headers is checked.
another thing is,
you need to make sure that oneline view is checked,
and perhaps have the reading pane set to off,
to set to oneline view,

with windows live mail opened,
alt+v/l/m
now tab to oneline view, press the enter key,

to set the reading pane to off,
alt+v/l/r
now tab and enter on off.
hope this helps.

Good morning Marvin;
in all do respect, you said,
The auto complete does work but you have to tab away and then tab back.
well, if yu have to use this type of behavior, then? in actual fact, the
autofill really doesn't work.
tabbing and shift+tabbing isn't a real solution, however, it's the only way
one is able to verify text in the to field.
also, you can't use the ctrl+k, it doesn't work.

has been unabated through JAWS 2018 on a Windows 7 64-bit Pro PC. In fact,
when I pressed Control+K just now, the Check Names feature was activated,
but no names were found. When another screen reader is used, the
Autocomplete feature works perfectly. I'm sorry to say that.

I know for a fact that all my passwords are correct in both my server and in

I have had to dis connect my router for a minute and re connect it and it
works well with no issues.
I have also found another problem, sometime my WLM won't send any messages
and what I do there is close the program and re open it and it works
correctly.
I suppose this is caused by Microsoft no longer supporting the program and
because we are using it in windows 10 it may not function in windows

I do not use AOL mail exclusively, I only use it to get email notifications

I guess in saying that if that is all I use it for, I suppose it wouldn't

i would check with aol's web site
maybe they have changed there email protocols
many email servers are useing a secured incomeing and outgoing server and this
would have to be changed in the wlm account settings to match what the server

Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows Live Mail Selecting Contacts

2017-05-25 Thread Hans Pauli Sundstein

Hi.

Type the beginning of the e-mail address or name into the to-field, and when
you have typed approxymate 2 to 3 letters, press insert+up arrow, to read
the selected result from your addressbook.
Is this correct, continue to the subject field, otherwise type more letters
to the e-mail address or name, untill you with insert+up arrow hear the
correct receiver of the e-mail.

Hope you'll be lucky with Jaws 18.

Hans Pauli.

I am a new JAWS user. Using Window-Eyes, when I start typing in the “to”
field, the field is populated with a list of ossible contacts from which to
choose. In JAWS 18, this doesn’t work. I must use the Select Contacts button
to do this. Is this expected behavior for JAWS, or is something wrong?

How does one get rid of the ribbons?
I think they have made things harder to accomplish by introducing
this new method of using ribbons.
I use jaws and I remember something while installing the update
it asked if you want ribbons on or off.
Wasn't sure what that means.
Thanks!

Hello there;
If you found the contacts import and export under tools, you must
have the virtual ribbon feature turned on.
The steps I gave are for the ribbon feature turned off.

Hi Helga,

To manipulate your View by Conversation, you go into the View Ribbon - from
the Message List, ALT-V; then press TAB KEY about six times to the
Expand/Collapse button, (which at this point, if it says 'unavailable', move
to some other message in the list and repeat the above). Then Press TAB KEY
once more, and you'll be able to turn the Conversation View off or on (not
check or checked).

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Windows Live Mail and JAWS

Hello everyone,
I am using JAWS17 on a Windows 10 laptop. I am trying to use Windows
Live Mail 2012 and I am having some issues. The main one is how do I get
JAWS to tell me if a message is unread or not as well if the messages
are collapsed or expanded in a group? I listened to a podcast where
someone was demonstrating Windows Live Mail 2012 and it was telling them
whether the message was unread or not.

Occasionally I have noticed this problem and solve it by pressing Alt
Spacebar to bring up system menu and choose x to maximize the window. For
some reason the window sometimes needs to be maximized. This has happened
on both my Win 7 and Win 10 laptops.

Re: [JAWS-Users] windows live mail revisited

2015-09-25 Thread David Ferrin
I post from a couple of machines so the signature line may vary now and again.

The thing was I am accustomed to my signatures being placed just after any text
I write in a message, no matter if it is a new message or either a reply or
forward.

In live mail this is not so any longer because I finally noticed that the
signature was being placed in a reply or forward at the bottom of the message
and not just after my most recent part of it.

This is Outlook 2007 on windows 7 and as you might notice the signature is
where I thought it should be in live mail. So it was doing what I wanted it to
do, just not the way I expected it, oh BTW no trees were killed while composing
this message but a great many electrons were inconvenienced.

I would imagine that it only works with pop because the imap keeps the same
folder structure as the actual account such as with gmail.
The message rules button in WLM 11 is located in the folders tab in the one
labeled groups.
To put imap messages into folders you would need to set it up on the
original site such as gmail.

Hi Kevin,

I am not sure if this will transfer your settings or not, but it will move
all of your accounts and messages, as well as any calendars and the like
that you might have. To do this you need to have the app data folder showing
in your Users folder, the one named Kevin or whatever. open the Kevin
folder, then App Data, now select and open Local, and do the same fowith the
Microsoft folder. Now, scroll down and find the folder labeled Windows Live
Mail, and either copy the entire folder, or open it and copy all of the

I have gone into my addressbook in Outlook Express, the Address Book, not
just the contact list column, and in the Address Book hit Control A to
highlight all, then Control C to copy, then moved them to another separate
file. I needed to do that once to share with a coleader of a card group.

Best to you from,

Mail, and either copy the entire folder, or open it and copy all of the
contents from it, and paste this onto a flash drive or an external hard
drive or something. When you get WLM set up on your new computer, just cop y
any single files into the same folder on the new computer, and for any file

I don't believe that it can be done. Once installed, you will have to select
the view that you want. Again, this would mostly be done through the View

currently have selected.

Windows Live Mail is very close to Outlook Express. In fact, when you
open

a mail folder, like the inbox in WLM, JAWS reads Inbox - Outlook
Express-

Message list view, or something very similar to this. It is very
evident
that Windows Live Mail was directly developed through some changes to
Outlook Express, and all references to OE were not caught and removed.

Hi.
On my tablet I'm trying to switch from Thunderbird for email to
something else. First try is Windows Live Mail. I need something that
does conversation view. Windows Live Mail does, but it keeps on
expanding the conversations every time I delete one of them.

I'll have them all closed, delete one, and all of them in that folder
will then be open. The whole point of conversations is to only have to
mess with one list item for all the messages dealing with that one
topic, and with this stupid idiocy that's not how it works. Why anyone
would find that useful I'll never know.

I prefer Thunderbird, but it goes too slow on the tablet. It locks up
and occasionally crashes the tablet and causes it to reboot. I do have
about 3 email, but back in the day on a lot less of a computer than
that tablet is I could have over 10 and not experience any slowdown
what so ever. Note that they weren't all in the same folder of course.

You should be good with either the 2011 or the 2012 version, A send/receive
error typically is related to a server error. You may have configured the
server settings wrong, or their may be a problem with the server for a short
while. I would go back and check the settings that you set up. For your
information, the 2012 version introduced the ribbon tabs into Windows Live
Mail, the 2011 version does not have this.

I don't know the exact address, but open your web browser and search for
microsoft download center. It will be one of the first results. When on the
download center page, search for windows live essentials 2011. You will get
the result with the link to download. Note, I do not suggest that you
install the entire suite, just the live mail. During the installation, you
will be asked what you want to install, just press the space bar to select
Mail, then tab down and enter on the install button.
