Hey Gang, I had to download the newest YouTube 3.10.722, and it puts things in mp4. How can I get it to put the songs in mp3? I'm running XP, IE8, and jaws 12.525. Hello Listmembers: I have a You-tube question. Since purchasing JFW16 10 or so days ago, I have been unable to listen to Songs, and other presentations that I am interested in viewing in YouTube. I don't know if Youtube has recently restricted access to its content, or I need to make some kind of a change in Settings. Any assistance here would be appreciated. Hello listmembers: I have been a longtime visitor to Youtube, listening to many songs and watching interviews and videos compatible with many of my interests including, music, literature and history. Through all this time though, I didn't use any of the controls: (rewind, fast forward, Pause, Mute etc. I wasn't sure if they were accessible with my older version of JAWS. Now that I have JFW16, I want to use Youtube more effectively and access these controls. A day or so ago, I opened up Youtube through Firefox and turned off the Virtual Cursor. When I started tabbing around, none of the above-mentioned controls were referenced: just the standard Youtube links. Any help/direction is surely appreciated. additionally, there are instances where skipping ads will not skip. this depends on if the author has allowed skipping of ads. so if it doesn't skip an ad, there's nothing you can do. just let it play. Holger, I don't know if youtube recently improved this, biut if you tab to the video controls, there is usually a "skip ad" button, which JAWS will read. I am using JFW 14 and Windows 7. Hi, There is an ad on for all browsers called Add Block Plus. There is a version for every browser. Just type Add Block Plus into Google, and choose the browser that you are on at that time, and Add Block Plus will install on your browser. this will keep adds from coming up in the first place. Very good at blocking adds. Hi Patti. If you are referring to the latest youtube to mp3 converter? I think that is also the version that I just upgraded too a few days ago. Jaws doesn't seem to read the options as well as it did in the last version. When you tab through the options? After pasting in the URL of the youtube video you want to convert. There is a list. In which you can choose the format to which you want to convert the video into. I notice now, you can choose between: OG, Wave, MP4 and MP3. Perhaps, you have it set to MP4? and this is causing your trouble? Hi Patty: I just reinstalled the latest update and here is what happens when I open the program. Could be that not the entire show was uploaded or uploaded in individual parts, since youtube only allows upload of 10 mins or something like that at one time. Look if there are more files by this user that uploaded the show. He may have split it into parts. When watching a video on YouTube, is there any way to set the screen to full size? In the view menu there is an option for full size, but that doesn't seem to change the size of the video at all. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. At times safety mode is enabled, when you arrive to the page does it mention that? For example, creating a youtube channel, and out of curiosity, when creating the channel, will it say youtube.com/ the channel name, or just a bunch of random letters and numbers after the youtube.com slash. I have Youtube Red, and do just fine with it on the PC and on my Android device. The main reason I got it is so I wouldn't have to put up with commercials while watching. I really don't care for their offerings anyway, but when watching any video, you can fast forward, play/pause, rewind, go to previous or next video, share what you are watching or add to a playlist. The volume is a slider you can left or right arrow to change the volume, once you press Enter on the slider. Same thing goes for moving through a video, there is a slider you press enter on and can left or right arrow through. BTW, I am using Internet Explorer, as I seem to get the best results that way. I am also using Windows 10. On the Android device (my phone), the Add and Share buttons are at the top of the screen. There are also buttons for subscribing to that person's channel, and for getting e-mail notifications of any additions to the channel. These toggle. These are also on the site when accessing by computer, but am not remembering how they look. I use Youtube all the time on my phone, and one can also read and make comments to the videos. Hi everyone! Does anyone know of an accessible Youtube to MP3 convertor? The one I just looked at had an installer that was loaded down with third party programs with opt out options that weren't accessible, so I canceled the install. That one was from DVD Video Soft. Another one that I looked at from Free Make wasn't accessible. I used to use Youtube to MP3 convertor.org but for the past several months, all it does is throw up a message about maintenance and to try again in an hour or so. lately when I view youtube content on internet explorer the volume is low. even if I download them using dvdvideosoft youtube to mp3 converter the downloaded file is still low. the master volume on my computer is at 100 percent and my windows media player volume is at 100 percent what else needs to be at max volume? hello, finding youtube URL is the same as moving to the browser's address bar. thus, window standard keystroke alt + D will work. it will bring you focus to the browser's address bar. it works in any web addresses including youtube. and since this command automatically highlights the URL, you can simply tap control + C if you intend to paste the address somewhere else. additionally, this command is not specific to JAWS nor any web browsers. it works fine in internet explorer, firefox and chrome. Normally pressing on a link does the trick. There are a number of link which come up in You Tube. Not all of them will be links to the video. Some links will refer to pages where videos of a certain category or group are collected. Other links will contain information about the user posting the video. Perhaps the best thing is to seen a link to a example page that you might be having problems with and we may be able to be clearer in advice. YouTube BLG is accessible with Jaws. I don't have a link for it but it works very well. It does not have all the options that the one you mentioned has but it does a very good job. Hi! My needs are very simple, I don't need to download whole playlists or multiple songsone at a time suits me just fine. I discovered that the first message about YouTubeBLG had actually misspelled it, it should have been YouTubeDLG for YouTube DL GUI. Somebody sent me a link to github where it could be downloaded but there appeared to be no link to a Windows version, so I gave up on that. While I was searching, I ran across several recommendations for a program called Pontes Media Downloader. It sounded ideal so I grabbed it. Pontes Organization is apparently a Romanian JAWS user who has written some games and this media downloader, and some scripts for JAWS. Tim and Kevin, On my system, not only does YouTube volume diminish, sometimes it even goes away completely. It often happens after an MS security update. getting at the volume control on YouTube is tricky, but here are three methods that work with IE11, though inconsistently. 1. The easiest is to change the volume on Accessible YouTube, which seems to carry over to the volume on everyone's YouTube. Go to http://www.povidi.com/yourtube/ Press alt-p for play, t hen up arrow to raise the volume in increments. The other two methods might or might not work on the regular YouTube website: 2. To reach the player and volume controls, turn off the virtual cursor with insert-z, then tab a couple of times . (Thanks to Mario and another lister for this one.) In my case, I had to shift-tab twice. This method did not work the last time I tried. 3. Again insert-z to turn off the virtual cursor, then tab down to "theater mode." Then up arrow like crazy to raise the volume. (this method also didn't work the last time I tried.) I'm sorry that I can't give a definitive answer, but I can confirm that volume is a real problem on YouTube and that player control accessibility is poor. However, one of these methods ought to work. FYI, my system is Win7 64-bit, and I've used these methods with JAWS 16 and 17, and probably also with 15. I can't remember if I tried Firefox.
