Re: [JAWS-Users] re-display adapters
Hey Jim, I removed one mirror, and I don't have much stuttering when I turn on my laptop. There is still just a little bit. Thanks for the help. Patti Hi Patti and joni: If you wish to remove the first mirror driver. go to device manager tab to the tree view, press D until you here, display adapters closed Press right arrow key to open the list Arrow down to the first F S mirror driver press the application key Arrow down to uninstall and press enter. follow the prompts and restart your computer when you are done. It does not hurt to leave them there if you wish to, it just makes things more clean and organized in your computer. I noticed some stuttering of the speech of Jaws when I first noticed that there were four mirror drivers installed on my computer. this is why I removed three of the mirror drivers , things are running smooth and the Jaws voice is nice and clear again. [JAWS-Users] re-display adapters
Hi Jamie: You only need one F S mirror driver on your computer. No hurry, when you get a chance call F S tech. support and let them walk you through the process of getting down to one driver. I am comfortable enough that I changed mine, however, I would not recommend someone doing so unless they know their way around the device manager. I hope this helps. Does it matter which one I unstall? I can get to the device manager and the display adapter area Then I used the application key to up arrow to uninstall Does it matter which one I uninstall? My computer is working just fine with the two there so What would you do? Re: [JAWS-Users] re-display adapters
I have three of those mirror drivers. I also have three versions of JAWS on the PC, as I always keep the previous version to the new one, and haven't gotten around to removing JAWS 11. Is that why the three drivers? Does it matter? PC seems to be running fine. Hi Mike: Press the windows key and type device manager in the edit field, and press enter. Tab over to the tree view, press the letter D, until you hear display adapters closed. Press the right arrow key to open this list. press the down arrow key one time to hear your graphics card, press the down arrow again to hear the F S mirror driver. Hi Mike, I don't believe that Jaws uses them in Windows XP. Pretty sure they are used in Vista And Win7 only, and most likely Windows 8 when it comes out. Re: [JAWS-Users] re-display adapters
I looked at device manager and only had two display adaptors, one FS mirror driver and the Intel driver. I had only installed 13 from the disk. I downloaded the most recent version and just ran that installation. Now I do have 2 FS mirror drivers showing. Is there a problem leaving them there? Re: [JAWS-Users] re-display adapters
Howdy Ricky, I believe that mirror drivers are used in XP. A couple of years ago Freedom Scientific Tech Support walked me through navigating to them. I had a program called Log Me In on the computer FS said that the mirror driver was messing with the Jaws mirror driver. But, I believe the mirror drivers for XP are buried in the registry. I'll call FS tech support tomorrow find out for sure. I'm curious to see if Mirror Drivers are piled up in XP like in Widows7. Take care.
