Personally that annoys me, but I have become accustomed to it as some desktop
keyboards do not have a right windows key either.

I just looked at a lap top with a full size keyboard. I noticed that the right
windows key is missing. I never use the left windows key. Will the missing

Not much of a major problem, but annoying when the key combination is on

Personally, I never use the right side Windows key. I have a Logictech

drives me nuts because it is one of the most used keys on the board. I
always have to use the Shift+F10 key to open the context menu. I think a

Re: [JAWS-Users] lap top?

2014-09-30 Thread Rick Justice
Hi Lenny,
Jaws will use the same keyboard commands on a laptop with a full-size
keyboard, as it does for a desktop computer.
There will be additional keys on the laptop not found on a standard 104
keyboard,
which is why I use a standard USB keyboard with my laptop.
Another consideration for me is that my hands are so large that trying to
navigate the laptop keyboard proved difficult since the keys are smaller and
closer together, and the addition of the F/N key.
Also, most laptops do not have a right Windows key, and some no applications
key.

HTH,

Tomorrow's another day, another way!

A Bluetooth keyboard can be used with either a tablet or laptop if the

which most new devices today do.

Or would the tablet with a full size Bluetooth keyboard be better. I have

The laptop has win 8, 4gb, 500 gbhd. I like it because it has nothing

Yes, that keyboard will work just like the keyboard you use on your desktop.
Be aware though that you will have an extra key called the FN key. this is
used for specific functions with the function keys. Also, If the laptop is
an HP you will have to use this fn key in order to make the standard Jaws
key commands work.

It looks like I most likely will then just get a laptop. I hope that it will
use the same keyboard configuration as my desktop.

I think only if it can be paired through the settings of the tablets device.
It's how it is with the items that cannot be mentioned on this list,
wireless devices have to be paired with said devices in order to work and
blue tooth

if your asking by using a wireless keyboard with a laptop will work with
Jaws, the answer is yes.
I use a laptop and wireless fullsize keyboard, Jaws works great.

Well, I just dug out my very old type and speak, purchased 1985. I have not
used it in about 9 years. It turns on but totally messed up. I need
something for some meetings. I just learned that wal-mart has a lap top with
a full size keyboard for $300. With the full size keyboard will jaws work as
does my desktop? I really do not want to learn a new keyboard. It will be
used one or two times a month.
Or would the tablet with a full size Bluetooth keyboard be better. I have
office 2010 with one install remaining.
The laptop has win 8, 4gb, 500 gbhd. I like it because it has nothing
installed.

does the tablets have dictation functions?
Just a thought as means of keeping notes, etc. without using an external
keyboard, unless you don't use the keyboard built into the tablet?
I am just thinking the tablet has that cabability as in something else?

I have a list of laptop key strokes, but for the life of me I can't find
out which is the jaws curser or the PC curser. On the lattop I want to use
the jaws curser, but how do I do it?
