[JBoss-dev] [XDoclet on JBoss (XDoclet/JBoss)] - XDoclet: ejb.interface-method Challenges

2004-05-03 Thread abcolson
I am using the JBoss-IDE 1.2.0 and utilizing the @ejb XDoclet tags. The tags/code
completion work for class level documentation, but not for method level documentation.

For example, @ejb.bean works at the class level documentation, but
@ejb.interface-method does not work at the method level documentation.

I thought this was no big deal at first, but when the IDE did not generate my
interface correctly (i.e. without my method) I realized I had a problem.

It seems strange to me that when I installed the IDE that I would only get/install
part of the @ejb tags.

Am I missing something here? Help appreciated.

Tony

2004-05-03 Thread letiemble
Hi,

Once you have upgraded, you can delete them. There are not needed anymore. For the
1.2.3, you only need the 1.2.3 plugins.

Laurent.

it must look like this:

[JBoss-dev] [Nukes Development] - Re: MySQL Pure-CMP --- issues w News FAQ modules

2004-05-03 Thread sesques
Hi Howard, Hi LCB,

As you ask me on the Persistence CMP/JBoss forum, I'm pleased to have a look on
your debates. I don't know Nukes and I don't want to investigate on this project. The
reason is that I'm enough busy with my job to participate on such a project.

Anyway, I can say that LCB gives the solution before me. Effectively, You don't have
to rely on database specific tags for the mapping, all the mappings are described in
the standardjbosscmp-jdbc.xml file. For MySQL, the mapping for Strings is VARCHAR(250).
So, you just have to specify the datasource mapping type in jbosscmp-jdbc like LCB
says (the second version for mySQL).
I think that it will solve all your problems.
Please, let me know.
Pascal

[JBoss-dev] [AOP on JBoss (Aspects/JBoss)] - Re: JBossAOPized application NoClassDefFoundError: org/jboss

2004-05-03 Thread Bill Burke
jboss aop requires these jars:

jboss-aop.jar
jboss-common.jar
trove.jar
concurrent.jar
qdox.jar
javasssist.jar

The jboss-common.jar will be incompatible with JBoss 3.0.6's jar of the same name.
This is a lack of foresight on my part and I need to remove the dependency on
jboss-common.jar so that you can use the AOP stuff in older versions of JBoss.
Ironically, you CAN use JBoss aop in other application servers, but not older versions
of JBoss :(

The next release of JBoss AOP will allow you to run in older versions of JBoss. I
hope to release next week. What I'll do is repost to this forum and tell you what
classes you need to remove from the JBOss AOP distributed jboss-common.jar and add
them to jboss-aop.jar.

Bill

[JBoss-dev] [Mail Services] - Re: TODO: retry configuration and queue

2004-05-03 Thread kabkhan
He doesn't say, and not sure I dare ask :-) I'll look into it a bit more soon though.
If we have a container-transaction configured it works.

I'm more concerned about the delaying retries/keeping track of who the message has
been successfuly sent to.

Summary: Deployment order in EAR, dependencies not resolved.

Initial Comment:
OS: Windows Professional, Linux Red Hat 7.2
Java version 1.4.2_04

Steps to create the bug:

1) Create an EAR with one EJB and one JMX bean.
2) The JMX bean should depend on the EJB, this
dependency should be described in the jboss-service.xml
file of the mbean.
3) Deploy the EAR file.

Jboss deploys the JMX sar file before the EJB causing an
error like:

org.jboss.deployment.DeploymentException: create

Summary: Need ability to delay ajp requests until wars deployed

Initial Comment:
Right now there ajp transport layer is decoupled from
the war deployments and this leads to a window over
which ajp requests will be dispatched to the web
container, but will fail with 404 errors due to the
fact that the target web context is not deployed. We
need a way to delay requests when the target web
context is not available.

Isnt this like the expected behaviour(as the app is not
deployed yet)? Where would you want to block the calls
when the redeployment takes effect?
Something like showing a page that deployment is in effect?

Raja,

I have attached two versions of a simple ear, one with
integrated sar file and another with seperate components.
The application depends on a timer service, I have included
this in the user_service.xml file. Try the following.

1) copy the user-service.xml to jboss deploy dir
2) copy the deptest.ear under seperate into the deploy dir
3) start jboss
4) copy the helloworld.sar file under seperate into deploy dir

Everything should deploy correctly and you will notice every
10 seconds the getMessage method of the HelloworldBean is
invoked by the HelloWorldMBean

5) Stop jboss
6) remove the deptest.ear and helloworld.sar file from deploy
dir
7) start jboss
8) copy deptest.ear into deploy dir.

The application fails because the EJB is Not bound i.e the Sar
file is deployed before the EAR (even with depends tags in the
jboss-service.xml). I have tried a number of different JNDI
names.

Good luck,
Hoos

4) copy the helloworld.sar file under seperate into deploy dir

Everything should deploy correctly and you will notice every
10 seconds the getMessage method of the HelloworldBean is
invoked by the HelloWorldMBean

5) Stop jboss
6) remove the deptest.ear and helloworld.sar file from deploy
dir
7) start jboss
8) copy deptest.ear into deploy dir.

The application fails because the EJB is Not bound i.e the Sar
file is deployed before the EAR (even with depends tags in the
jboss-service.xml). I have tried a number of different JNDI
names.

Good luck,
Hoos

[JBoss-dev] [AOP on JBoss (Aspects/JBoss)] - Re: Interceptor not intercepting

2004-05-03 Thread mriou
Sorry about that, metadata-aop.xml was not in jboss.aop.path. Absolutely my fault.

Thinking about it this property bothers me a bit as in most deployment you don't have
a prior knowledge of the file system. Is there a way to make JBossAOP just look in the
classpath (like loading it using a classLoader.getResourceAsStream()) ??

Thanks a lot.

[JBoss-dev] [AOP on JBoss (Aspects/JBoss)] - Re: Interceptor not intercepting

2004-05-03 Thread Bill Burke
Depends if you are running inside or outside the JBoss application server.

If outside, then JBoss AOP does this by default:
Enumeration enum =
Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResources(META-INF/jboss-aop.xml);

So any part of your classpath that has a META-INF/jboss-aop.xml file within it will be
loaded by JBoss AOP. See the packaging tutorial example for more detail.

If you are running inside JBoss applications server, this getResources feature is
turned off. Instead, you must put YOURFILE-aop.xml in the deploy directory, or create
a jar named YOURJAR.aop and in the META-INF directory of the YOURJAR.aop jarfile put a
jboss-aop.xml. Am I making sense? I will write a Using within JBoss app server
example for the next release.

Regards,

Bill

We have 98 people with CVS access. Only ~35 of those are jboss employees.

Roadmap and tasks are a bit dispersed now, Ivelin should be posting on this topic to
guide you soon...

ok - i'm back from vegas, a little bit poorer (howard, you owe me some noodles) and
married (YAY!!!)

i am going to update mapping propery files (the ones used by the local.properties
file) to have the pk-constraint settting automatically defined. this should handle
that issue (if anyone knows the proper oracle setting, pls let me know - i'm guessing
it's true).

as for the other issues, i will have to d/l and install mysql to see if get this
problems. i know i've accidently forgotten to change the mapping in the
local.properties file and had these same types of errors.

on a completely diffferent side note, it's a bitch to read this post - we should
update the forums to do hard line breaks after x amount of characters - or perhaps
enable wrapping on the table columns?

[JBoss-dev] [Nukes Development] - Re: MySQL Pure-CMP --- issues w News FAQ modules

2004-05-03 Thread hxp
Hi Pascal, Hi LCB --

Thanks for your suggestions.

Your standardjbosscmp-jdbc.xml / jbosscmp-jdbc.xml analysis has the ring of truth to
it;
we need to check into it to determine for sure.

Your analysis also explains why this is not a general problem for JBoss,
but is a general problem for Nukes
all Nukes modules share the faulty configuration file(s).

These faulty configuration files would have been manually administered in a typical
JBoss app environment,
but instead they are automatically generated or fixed in CVS
and automatically included in the Nukes build process.

Because Nukes modules have never used pure-CMP prior to now (in particular,
using the create-table xdoclet tag to generate the xml to get the container to create
the tables),
this problem has never shown up before now.

The next question is where to put the fix(es) into Nukes --
* in the nukes installer?
* in the ant build process...
the build.xml? the local.properties file? the mapping propery files?
Jae's post begins to go into this question;
looks like we're hot on the trail of a good solution.

Thanks again for helping us get pure-CMP going for Nukes.
