[jboss-user] [JBoss Tools (users)] - components.xml

2008-03-05 Thread Pebbels
Hi guys,

I tried to start with JBoss Seam 2.0.1.GA, JBoss AS 4.2.2.GA, JBoss IDE for
Eclipse 2.0.0.Beta2 using
http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=EclipseSeamProject.
When deploying I get the following error:

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - unable to plugin jpdl designer 3.2.1 into eclipse 3.2.0

2008-03-05 Thread aarthi_lourdes
Hi,
As mentioned in your forum I've tried the following
1: copy pasting links,features,plugins from jpdl designer to new eclipse extract
2: running the given ant script to do the above
3: using eclipse's find and install to install the plugin
4: starting eclipse usign -clean param
I ve tried all the above with jpdl 3.2.1 and jpdl 3.0.13 for the past few weeks
and eclipse version 3.2.0. I used a new eclipse extract too.
But still when I open eclipse I'm unable to see the jbpm option in windows
preferences and in file-new-others

Could anyone please suggest a solution? I've been trying this for weeks now. Is
it a problem with eclipse 3.2.0 ?
Thnx
Arti

The root token is key to the state of the process - seems reasonable that it's
state changes as the process is updated.

The stale object exceptions can be avoided by not assuming that the token
cannot change through graph execution.

Let's have a look - taskInstance.setStart(Date date) is:

  | /**
  |* overwrite start date
  |*/
  |   public void setStart(Date date) {
  |   start = null;
  |   }

from TaskInstance source.

I think that explains it.

Looks like your application's class net.itcube.util.jdbc.DebuggableStatement is
trying to call a method on JBoss specific class. Do you have the code of
DebuggableStatement.executeVerboseQuery, which might show us which was exactly

I checked the jar files in both 3.2.3 and 4.0.3 and i do see that the

WrappedStatement) is available in both the versions. Did you modify any of the
jar files in JBoss?

BTW - in TaskInstance.start() it uses 'start == null' to determine whether the
task has already been started or not.

So, following a call to setStart() it would also be possible to call start()
again - probably would cause problems...

[jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration DEPLOYMENT] - ClassLoader leak through TimedCachePolicy.resolutionTimer

2008-03-05 Thread huuskart
As far as I can see, a ClassLoader leak can occur through
org.jboss.util.TimedCachePolicy.resolutionTimer, preventing ClassLoader and
classes from unloading when an EAR is undeployed.

I have debugged undeploy problem in my EAR with jmap -dump and jhat, and one of
the reasons preventing ClassLoader from unloading is this path I see in jhat:

Static reference from org.jboss.util.TimedCachePolicy.resolutionTimer (from
class org.jboss.util.TimedCachePolicy) :
-- [EMAIL PROTECTED] (40 bytes) (field thread:)
-- [EMAIL PROTECTED] (173 bytes) (field contextClassLoader:)
-- [EMAIL PROTECTED] (296 bytes) (field parent:)
-- [EMAIL PROTECTED] (123 bytes) (field parent:)
-- [EMAIL PROTECTED] (203 bytes)

The Timer object in the trace has only one TimedCachePolicy job in its queue,
and that object is referenced from

[EMAIL PROTECTED] (103 bytes) : field domainCache
[EMAIL PROTECTED] (32 bytes) : field authenticationCache

So I'm guessing that this happens: when I first access my web application
requiring authentication, JBoss creates the Timer needed to clean authCache and
domainCache. This Timer is created from the context of my web app - the
TimerThread java.util.Timer creates inherits the current context ClassLoader,
that is my ClassLoader. Boom.

As a side issue, a peculiar thing is that I have disabled authenticationCache
with

0

for JaasSecurityManagerService. Even more peculiar, the authenticationCache
actually does contain the principal and credentials I used to log in to the web
app. That is, authCache can't be disabled the way it is advertised.

A possible work around is to access something else, like jmx-console first,
causing the Timer to be created in that context. I'll try that shortly.

There is also another ClassLoader leak that comes from Tomcat. See
https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=44389

[jboss-user] [Security JAAS/JBoss] - LDAP and JBoss

2008-03-05 Thread rukh
I have this issue with JBoss and LDAP.
I've created a configuration for LDAP and JBoss and everything works fine, but
everytime user fails to log in the failed login counter pops by 2.

I've put some logging information in the place where LdapContext is created for
a user and it's fired only once.

Next I've tried to check whats beeing sent over the network (using ethereal)
and I've found that there are two requests for login when users fails to login.

Most weird case is that when users succeeds with login there is only one
request for login sent through the network to the LDAP server.

Anyone has any idea what can be the source of this behaviour?

[jboss-user] [Security JAAS/JBoss] - Re: Tomcat 5.5 login module compatibility?

2008-03-05 Thread rsanka
I am facing a similar problem;
Per the instructions in the
http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=UsingCustomPrincpalsWith, I set up the
login module that extends from UsernamePasswordLoginModule, configured it in
the login-config.xml (with the principalClass option set to point to my custom
principal).

request.getUserPrincipal returns my custom principal but
ejbContext.getUserPrincipal returns a SimplePrincipal.

What am I missing? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

side note:
I am debugging into the JBoss source code but I am having to use the 4.2.1
source code because I am unable to locate the security source in the
5.0.0-beta3 or beta4 source code (for jbosssx.jar)

[jboss-user] [Javassist user questions] - Re: adding annotations

2008-03-05 Thread cat4hire
I'm going mad, anyone with a suggestion?

I've found that the following piece of code:

  | ByteArrayOutputStream aos = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
  | AnnotationsWriter aw = new AnnotationsWriter(aos,
constantPool);
  | aw.numAnnotations(1);
  | aw.annotation(this.annotationClassName, 0);
  | aw.close();
  | byte ab[] = aos.toByteArray();
  | System.out.println(\n\tAnnotation bytecode  for
annotation  + this.annotationClassName + );
  | System.out.println(new String(ab) );
  | System.out.println(\n\t++\n);
  | attribute = new AnnotationsAttribute(constantPool,
AnnotationsAttribute.visibleTag, ab);
  |

that should create the annotation specified, prints the following:

  |
  | Annotation bytecode  for annotation
whitecat.example.DBRoleAnnotation
  |
  |
  |+++
  |
  |

So I'm pretty sure that the bytecode generated for the annotation is empty, and
that the annotation is regularly added to my class, but without a bytecode I
cannot access it. Anyone can explain why the bytecode is null?

Thanks. That helps. I figured that was the case, but needed to ask anyway.

I saw somewhere that the next major version would be out by August and a minor
release will be sooner. Even so, it sounds like the current release will be
sufficient for us to get started developing.

As for helping out, I'd like to help with the Core Engine. I know that doesn't
narrow it down much. I'm fine tackling whatever.

[jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration DEPLOYMENT] - Re: ClassLoader leak through TimedCachePolicy.resolutionTime

2008-03-05 Thread huuskart
There is another, perhaps theoretical leak possibility JBoss authentication
cache implemented using TimedCachePolicy. This is because entries in
TimedCachePolicy are not purged from the cache until they are fetched from the
cache, and are then noticed as expired. The leak occurs when:

1. I login to web application using some credentials.

2. This information is entered in the authentication cache. The login
credentials involve a LoginContext object that has reference to the web app
ClassLoader.

3. I undeploy.

4. I never ever again login using the same credentials.

When same credentials are not used, they will not be fetched from auth cache,
therefore never seen as expired and never purged: the ClassLoader is leaked
through the stuff entered in the cache.

This can be worked around by flushing the cache. I guess JBAS-4752 sort of
solves this. However, I think the cache should be purged also when web
application is undeployed.

Hello guys.

I have a little problem while accesing to a deployed application in Jboss AS.
Well, this application,named portalsitranbus, was developed in Jdeveloper,
where it works fine. Then i deployed it into a EAR file, located in the deploy

I access to the application trought localhost:8080/portalsitranbus, and it
seems to work, but when i clicked on any actions i got the following error
message: The required resource (/portalsitranbus/servlet/ServletController) is
no avaliable. but i can find it in the console.

Any idea that can help me?

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - using java project's classes into a JBPM project

i've created a JBPM project. Now i want to use the classes of a already created
java project. I've added that project to my JBPM project. hence i can very well
access the classes of the java project.
I'm able to create the objects of the classes that i want to use.
but the problem is i'm not able to use functions of these classes by their
objects.

Ex.

  | TestFDBFirstwfmTable testTable = new TestFDBFirstwfmTable();
  | testTable.testinsertRow();
  |

the function insertRow() in line 2 gives an error as Syntax error on token
testinsertRow, Identifier expected after this token

it is not recognizing the functions of this object.
any pointers to solve this problem?

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Do we really need Transition?

2008-03-05 Thread bungrudi
Does a transition really needed in a bpm framework?
I've just realized that the need to explicitly define transitions from a node
is lessening the framework's expressiveness quite bad.
I can't found an easy way to implement a complex flow, one of which is like
a - b - c - ttt - d - e
where node ttt can move anywhere in the flow based on certain condition.
if Transition is optional, implementing this is an easy case.

anyone has any idea on the easiest way to implement this in latest stable
release of JBPM?

[jboss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Velocity issue

2008-03-05 Thread cristi_cioriia
Hi all,
I am pretty new to JBOSS and I have some hard times integrating Velocity into
JBOSS. I hope that this is the right place to ask for help.
Basically, what I would like to do is is the following: I have an EJB which
uses a helper class for creating some content. The helper class creates the
content using the Velocity framework. The code from the helper class looks like
this:

  | VelocityEngine velocityEngine = new VelocityEngine();
  | velocityEngine.setProperty(
  | //set the template location to where my templates reside

  |
  | VelocityEngine.FILE_RESOURCE_LOADER_PATH,
  | RESOURCE_LOADER_PATH);
  | velocityEngine.init();
  | StringWriter out = new StringWriter();
  | velocityEngine.mergeTemplate(mailMessageTemplate,
templateContext.getContext(), out);
  |
In order to be able to do that I have placed Velocity in the classpath of my
application. I am wondering if this is the right why to use Velocity inside
JBOSS(and EJBs). The reason I am in doubt about this is the JBOSS log when I
start the server:

[jboss-user] [JBoss Messaging] - Re: messages stuck in queues

2008-03-05 Thread martin.wickus
I think I've found a bug in JBM 1.4.0.SP3.

I ran JBM 1.4.0.SP3 to reproduce my earlier problem in UAT.

I then went through each of the items listed as oversights before until the
problem dissapeared. The order was:

1. Updated to latest schema. Problem still occurs.
2. Changed to non-EAP version of JBM and JBR libraries. Problem still occurs.
3. Turned clustering for PostOffice off. Problem still occurs.
4. Changed PrefetchSize to 1000 and SlowConsumers to false. Problem fixed.

I undid/repeated step 4 a few times and it this is definately my problem area.

I then switched to the JBM 1.4.0.GA libraries to see if I can reproduce the
problem. I couldn't. It works stably whether SlowConsumers is true or false.

This makes me think that between JBM1.4.0.GA and JBM1.4.0.SP3, there must have
been a change to the client consumer flow control.

I compared the source code for the revisions and noticed there was significant
refactoring in org.jboss.jms.client.container.ClientConsumer.

Additionaly, since the behavior happens only after a period and only under
heavy load, this sounded like a threading problem.

I can't be sure by looking at the code as I'm not a JBM expert, but I do notice
that most of the time when consumeCount gets modified, it is done so within the
mainLock. However, not always so this might cause contention issues.
Perhaps consumeCount should be declared as volatile to prevent threads storing
local values for the variables.

[jboss-user] [JBossWS] - multiple webservices in different virtualhosts

2008-03-05 Thread schueffi
Hi,

i have jboss-4.2.2 configured to serve content for two different virtualhosts
(in jboss-web/server.xml), www.host-a.com and www.host-b.com .

Now, i want to deploy a pojo-jaxws based webservice on both of these
virtualhosts (each configured to serve only for its particular virtualhost in
jboss-web.xml) but it fails with Endpoint already registered when deploying
the second one.
Deploying only one of it leads to the correct result for the particular
webservice, it is just not possible to deploy both the same time.

Both endpoints use the same context-root, and the same url-pattern, but
different virtual-hosts.
(e.g.
www.host-a.com/service/MyService  - webservice-a
www.host-b.com/service/MyService  - webservice-b
)

Is this deployment-scenario possible? A related bug report might be JBWS-981,
although this is only for EJB-based endpoints instead of pojo-based
JSE-Endpoints.

regards

Stefan Schueffler

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: Can't leave node ... without leaving transition

2008-03-05 Thread pojomonkey
Just realised - the 'raw' Node type does NOT have a wait state and will hence
try to leave() as soon as gets there.

And it doesn't have a leaving transition, so the error is correct.

Can you clarify what value of prefetchSize and slowConsumers you were using

Just to be clear- you're saying that the with the default values its ok, but
when you change them to your values you get the problem?

It IS possible to simply move token into arbitrary nodes (of course these would
HAVE to be nodes with wait-states...) but that seems an awfully ham-fisted way
of using jBPM!

And how transitions can 'lessen the expressiveness' of a graph execution
environment is beyond my comprehension. It also suggests that perhaps you're
not fully grasping what jBPM is about.

quite possibly.
maybe I'm not looking the problem from the jBPM perspective.

what i meant by not needing any Transition is that we can officially move
token into arbitrary nodes, without regarded as being using jBPM in an
ham-fisted way.

a - b - c - ttt - d - e

if ttt is to be placed dynamically, then we can just make it
 a - b - c - d - e
 ttt
nowhere in the other nodes we have to declare

we can legally 'jump' to it from anywhere, and from ttt back to where we came
from (or anywhere, of course).
in current jBPM implementation i cant find any way to easily achieve this
without cluttering my html with s.
it would be much nicer if transition element is optional.

Just a thought, but what does your login-config.xml file look like?

If you had two LDAP login-modules defined for your application policy, with the

sense. There would be two failed logins and only one successful one and both
failed logins would result in very similar network traffic.

So, you're saying you saw the problem with the default, out of the box values,

What values do you need for your system - do you need to change the

[jboss-user] [JBossWS] - @WebService method argument names

2008-03-05 Thread rcarmichael
If I've got an EJB3 Bean with @Stateless and @WebService defined with a method
like:

  | addNumbers(int num1, int num2)
  |

the WSDL generated will simply call the arguments arg0 and arg1. Is there a way
to force the WSDL generated to actually use the proper argument names? In this
silly case it isn't important but it is confusing for my web service users not
to know the argument names.

Thanks!
- Ryan

2008-03-05 Thread martin.wickus
That's correct. Under item 2 for post Tue Mar 4, 2008 07:55 AM you'll see I
mentioned that when we upgraded from JBM 1.4.0.GA to JBM1.4.0.SP3, we did not
bring across our customizations (those two attributes specifically).

In other words, under JBM 1.4.0.GA, we'd customized our
connection-factories-service.xml to include those attributes. Then when we
upgraded to JBM 1.4.0.SP3, we did not apply those customizations again. This is
when we experienced the problem. However, after re-adding those customizations,
everything works.

following command:

[jboss-user] [Tomcat, HTTPD, Servlets JSP] - How to get applicationname (name of the ear) from FacesConte

2008-03-05 Thread Annegret
Hi,

I'm porting an application deployed in WebSphere ApplicationServer to jboss. In
this context I have to generate a lookupname to a SessionBean dynamically. The
SessionBean is deployed with JNDIName earname/Beanname/local.

For WebSphere the following call is implemented:

  | String appName =
(String)FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getApplicationMap().get(com.ibm.websphere.servlet.enterprise.application.name);
  |

How can I get the applicationname (name of the ear) in jboss ?

I'm using jboss-5.0.0.Beta4.

Any ideas welcome.

[jboss-user] [JBossWS] - Re: Runtime classloader cannot be null

2008-03-05 Thread sjackson88
I have the same issue using jboss-4.2.2.GA and JBossWS2.0.1SP2 or JBossWS2.0.3.

I need to make my .war dependent on the service that provides the data being
served by the web service. My .war contains a single class; it uses
@WebService and @WebMethod to tag what needs to be exposed to the wsdl.

I used a depends element in jboss-web.xml to make the .war dependent on the
service. Unfortunately it appears that the DeploymentAspectManagerImpl is
executing despite the .war still waiting for creation/startup. My guess is
that JAXWSMetaDataBuilderJSE then tries to pull the classloader while the .war
is in this state and receives null.

Is there another way to accomplish this dependency?

Here's a snippet of the log after the interceptors have been set up:

This happens on the 3rd war only, If I change the order of the wars deployed,
it does only fail on the 3rd one. No matter which war it is.
If I deploy only 2 wars it works perfectly for any combination of the 2. ???

Before all 3 wars used to deploy good when my EAR consisted of: 3 WARs and 2
EJB JAR ( but only one EJB3, the other one EJB2.1), Just recently I converted
the other EJB jar to EJB3. Sinc ethen I can't deploy any 3rd WAR in my EAR.

Any idea of what could be causing a problem. I see in the logs that the binding
of UserTransaction is done succesfully multiple times for all the other
deployment (mines and jboss's one)

Thank you in advance !

I want to try and replicate this on this end.

Can you give me more information on your setup? Size of messages, number of
messages, number of consumers etc etc. so we can replicate something similar?
And what I should do to replicate?

Looking at the code the only time consumecount gets modified outside the lock
is on failover - when you replicate the issue do you need failover to occur?

(The default values for prefetchSize and slowConsumers are 150 and false
respectively so you have effectively just increased the prefetchsize to resolve
the issue.)

Did you read the release notes (readme.html)? First bullet item under JBOssAS
4.2.0 in the Configuration Issues section.

All that you need is a certified JDK. The Java environment that comes with most
Linux distros is not adequate, you will have to get the one from Sun.

And where can I find further information about that? I've looked at JBoss

Thanks!

[jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration DEPLOYMENT] - Re: [Help] Resources In Jars in Deployment EAR

2008-03-05 Thread Mazinger
This is JBoss 4.0.5

The CatalogManager.properties is being loaded via an encapsulation of the
Apache Commons Configuration API. Within the same jar file that contains the
various properties files, we store a common-config.xml file that is read in
through a .class.getResource(common-config.xml) call. This contains an XML
listing of what properties to load.

I am unfortunately unable to post the output of my EAR to this website, as the
information about my software is propietary... In my quoted post, I changed the
names of the files in order to mask the product. What were you looking for
specifically? I don't think I could post the contents of our EAR without
permission. Below is the application.xml for the EAR.

?xml version=1.0 encoding=UTF-8?

JBoss-4.2.2 ships with 3.2.4.sp1.

anonymous wrote : I want to use the latest version with Jboss4.2.2.

Its definitely possible to use a different version of Hibernate with
JBoss-4.2.2. All you have to do is configure the isolation correctly and
package all the appropriate Hibernate and other related jars in your
application. There was a similar thread where this was discussed, see this (a
bit lengthy) thread
