Re: [JOYnet] Luck, fate do they exist??
A story goes like this: In the early 1930s, there lived a certain farmer in a certain village in Germany. He owned a very nice little horse. A fine morning he found it missing, and all his friends and neighbors said, you are unlucky. The farmer was unshaken and said lucky or unlucky, only God knows. Days went by, and one day his little horse returned with two young wild horses. His friends and neighbors rejoiced with him and said, you are lucky. The farmer was again unshaken and said lucky or unlucky, only God knows. While training the two wild horses, the farmer's son fell from the horseback and fractured his leg, and again his friends and neighbors said, you are unlucky. The farmer again said lucky or unlucky, only God knows. Days later the Nazy army raided all the looks and corners of his village and forcefully carried away all the male youth who were fit to strengthen the Nazy army, but the farmer's son was left behind as he was not fit with a fractured leg. Then as usual his friends and neighbors said, you are lucky. But at this time, the farmer realized that all that happened was according to the plan of his Father in Heaven, and he glorified God. Now, some people call the grace of God by a pet name lucky by which only the gift is considered and God is forgotten. In other words, we reject the provider, God himself, and the glory that belongs to God is stolen and given to the individual. There is indeed fate and unluck. This comes when we are not in the state of grace ie, when we live in sin and we are cut off from the communication with God. When we lead a life in sin, we are inviting the fate and unluck to dwell within us. When we are away from the grace, we do live in the fate of evil, which can be overcome only by invoking the help of God. Whenever I see people living their live away from God, in grave sin, I think I am lucky, for God has given me the knowledge of truth in my youth THANKS BE TO GOD. I also do feel pity for those people who call me immatured when I reject their invitation to walk away from the grace of God. Re: [JOYnet] Luck, fate do they exist??
For a Christian - Luck and fate has already been taken care. If it is for Material needs : " God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in Glory ". I am already lucky cos I serve a billion times billionaire God.. I am destined for eternal life with my Father in Heaven cos I am the righteousness of Christ purchased by His own son's body and blood. So thats my fate. If I gain a ticket to heaven I heard I can drive a Rolls Royce or even fly an F-16 jet:-) I should be very very lucky there. Just got to make it ! RE: [JOYnet] Luck, fate do they exist??
Hi Jennifer, There is nothing called luck. It only exists for agnostic/atheist people. Whatever happens to you is known to God before hand. God has plans for every body and intervenes in human life. For pagan people, they do not know how to account for the sudden change/incidents/betterment in their life, and they term it as luck. For us, it is God's intervention. God may be giving us one more chance, so that we may listen to him or he is really changing the course of our life so that we can serve/witness him better. Fate does not exist. Our God is a just God; he does not make fixed path for people and make people suffer for that. If something is set for a person(the so called "Fate"), irrespective of the person's behavior/wishes/acts, then God can not judge him for his deeds. It will be against his nature. God gives everyone chance to lead one's life according to his plan; but he gives us freedom to choose our way. It is only our deeds, that get us to the end, and we are judged for that. If one pleads before God, he will surely change one's course of life. Fate, to me, is a dangerous concept. God always gives us sufficient warnings(through his words, parents, elders, prophets, priests, incidents in our life, common sense etc.,) before any incident happens in our life. What he requires from us is the willingness to change our life according to his plan. The concept of fate gives people a way to offer excuses for ignoring the warnings/justifying their wrong doings and to get some sympathy. The people who blame fate often tends to ignore the lessons from their past and repeat the same mistakes. Many people tells that if they get one more chance in life, then they would not reach the same situation as they are in now/lead a better life. This itself shows that they had sufficient warnings, and they have ignored them. That is all there is to it. Hi Jenni, A Christian is not supposed to believe in luck or fate. Well, there is nothing like luck. If you get something good, it's only because God loves you and blesses you. If you get something which you feel is not good, it is not b'coz you are not lucky, but God wants to teach you beautiful lessons in Christian life, to reveal God's plan in your life, or to mould you with His cross in His image. Word of God says thru Romans 8 "For we all know that God turns everything for the good to all who love Him and are called according to His plans." Fate? We are not the slaves of fate!!! but are delivered by the precious blood of Jesus Christ. We are God's children, and hiers of His kingdom, and co-hiers with Jesus Christ. Well let's be alert from every teaching that proclaims luck and fate. Praise Jesus, for He has set us free.
