I haven't had this problem in a while, I'm not sure when it was fixed -- it's
certainly not an issue in 20.04.1 (F32) or 20.08.1 (F33).

This is said to be fixed in 5.19.3 with this:

But it is not the case.

The issue is weird.

Workaround in Comment 49 still work with 5.20.1 under Mageia Caulron, but seems
to delay te end of KSplash to the end of the sound file to be played.
This needs some testing on my side.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=422948

As I told already months before, it has nothing to do with the sound, the
problem is that events are not handldes correctly on sign on. You can easily
verify that if you configure a another action like writing a logfile on
logon-/logoff-event, and you realize that log entries are written on logoff but
not on logon.

Developers should watch in that direction, than always and only to a missing
sound.

[plasmashell] [Bug 428267] New: When notifications are turned off - Audio raise/lower still makes noise

2020-10-26 Thread Jens Reuterberg
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=428267

Bug ID: 428267
Summary: When notifications are turned off - Audio raise/lower
still makes noise
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.20.1
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Notifications
  Assignee: k...@privat.broulik.de
  Reporter: j...@ohyran.se
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
Currently the audio notifications, when turned off, still gives an audio
notification when volume is raised/lowered, it can be turned off by going in to
audio settings and unclick the audio volume for the raising/lowering of volume
- but with online meetings it would make more sense to go in to Notifications
and turn them off.

This may also be a regression as this was possible in 5.19

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Go in to Notification Settings
2. Turn off Notification Sounds
3. Raise or Lower the Volume

OBSERVED RESULT
The volume raise/lower makes a click sound, unless shut off in the Audio
Settings for the widget.

EXPECTED RESULT
That all notifications get silenced when notifications are turned off

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Tested on Opensuse TW and Arch
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.1
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.75
Qt Version: 5.15.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Same effect on Arch Linux.
The tricky part is I suppose what notifications are critical and what are seen
as "flair" - volume feels like it should make a noise, but in Video meetings it
is distracting.

Kubuntu upgrade from 20.04 (Plasma 5.18.x) to 20.10 (Plasma 5.19.x) meant
system login sound has no effect at all.

If you try to force a login sound by other means, e.g.
"~/.config/autostart/login-sound.desktop" or
"~/.config/autostart-scripts/login-sound.sh" the situation gets worse - often
crashing plasma altogether with a black screen. At best, if a very short
(nearly 1 second) audio file is used, it is played with a pause near the end,
and even then sometimes causes plasma to crash.

[kwin] [Bug 428052] Windows selects the wrong panel to minimize, on multiscreen

I work everyday using KDE, and 2 times per week, this error appear. Sometimes,
when it happens, discord minimized icon get duplicated on both panel (both
screen) but the minimization animation goes always to the other screen.
Also note that I manually invert the position from both monitors, so KDE
rearrange them on login (but it seems that sometimes fail like the video).

2020-10-26 Thread Dan Leinir Turthra Jensen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427910

--- Comment #12 from Dan Leinir Turthra Jensen ---
It was pointed out to me that the logic i assumed QScopedPointer was using was
not incorrect. On Saturday afternoon EU time, i pushed
https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/knewstuff/commit/a95e5037b79b648f663f8db7ded6800ec6e49c75
which should hopefully sort it. If it doesn't, i guess we'll just have to leak
that pointer and trust KPackage to clean up after itself.

Thank you also to everybody who's been testing this out, since as it happens i
have nothing to hand that provokes this crash... (if that sounds like
frustration, it's because it kind of is - it's no fun watching something you
spent this long on crashing left and right, but it is heartening to have people
helping out with the testing of fixes, and seeing the neon dev testing branch
working as intended for that purpose!)

[dolphin] [Bug 428265] New: Unavailable shortcuts for konsole panel

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=428265

Bug ID: 428265
Summary: Unavailable shortcuts for konsole panel
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 20.08.2
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: panels: terminal
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: ash...@linuxcomp.ru
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

There is no way to change shortcuts for terminal panel in Dolphin.
For example, I like to use ctrl+C and ctrl+V for copying and pasting in
terminal. But in shortcuts settings there is currently no such possibility.

In Yakuake in shortcut settings, there are two subsets of them: Konsolepart and
Yakuake. In Konsolepart subset I could change Copy or Paste actions without any
problem.

Could similar thing be done for Dolphin? I mean, adding Konsolepart subset of
shortcuts to the Dolphion shortcut settings.

Please update to the latest release of Krita: 4.4.0. Krita 4.2.9 is no longer
supported, even though some Linux distributions still package it because they
never update packages to a newer version.

You can get an appimage that should run on almost every Linux distribution from
https://krita.org/en/download/krita-desktop/ -- just download the appimage,
make it executable and run it. See

[kwin] [Bug 428225] Breeze decoration doesn't work on old installation

2020-10-26 Thread Justin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=428225

If you've got ~/.kde4 I imagine your install is a long lived one.

The fact that it works fine on a new user means it's likely an issue with older
KDE4 directories that are clashing. With a new user all config would go into
newer ~/.config/k* folders/files.

If you really want to fix it you could mv ~/.kde4 and ~/.config folders out to
somewhere else and start fresh with new configuration data.

By moving the folders you can always move them back if it all goes bad.

[krita] [Bug 428259] New: Unnecessary transparent areas in layers take rooms in the layer size.

2020-10-26 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=428259

Bug ID: 428259
Summary: Unnecessary transparent areas in layers take rooms in
the layer size.
   Product: krita
   Version: 4.4.0
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Layer Stack

  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 132746

Case 1

SUMMARY
Layer size expands when you're painting, but it doesn't shrink when you're
erasing areas. I'm not sure this is intentional, but imo it makes it slower to
move/manipulate layers for no reason. (Kinda reminds me of memory leak;)

*What is odd is that, when you try to move the layer after erasing its
parts, the 'border' of move tool (which indicates how big the layer is) appears
around the actual size the the layer as if it properly shrinked. But on the
layer thumbnail in the layers docker it's still expanded and the moving speed
is still slow.

Case 1
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Draw something small on a corner of the canvas.
2. Draw something small on the other side of the canvas, on the same layer.
---(note:2 is much slower to move compared to 1)---
3. Erase the part you drew in step 2 completely with a brush.
4. Check how the layer thumbnail isn't shrinked and how it is still slow to
move the layer. It behaves as if its size stays expanded, although the border
of move tool indicates differently.

Case 2
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Draw something small and put it in a group layer.
2. Put a filter layer or filter mask inside the group layer.
---(note:the layer size expands into maximum at this point)---
3. Remove the filter layer or filter mask.
4. Check how the layer thumbnail isn't shrinked and how it is still slow to
move the layer. It behaves as if its size stays expanded, although the border
of move tool indicates differently.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Is it impossible to make layer operations unaffected by the layer size in the
first place? (e.g Firealpaca)

Yes, it seems solved now as it won't allow paste if permission is not available
to do the operation.

Thanks
