KR> MGL and the new instrument panel

Suffice it to say that mine will change the FM radio in my hangar from perfect reception of a local station to complete "white noise" as soon as I flip the iEFIS on, and that's running off a backup battery with nothing else in the circuit! And they think I have bad grounds, alternator, ignition, whatever it takes...but that's not what my oscilloscope says, and the FM radio agrees! And it goes WY deeper than RFI, trust me. More on that as the web page progresses. For that matter, I just got my iFly 720 back in the mail for the second time in two years with maybe 250 hours of use on it. I "bricked" it doing a routine software update just before the Chino Gathering, and the touch screen went south recently, requiring a new one for $120. The software is superb and vastly intuitive, but the hardware has reliability issues. The lack of an internal battery is unforgivable. Compare the old iPad2, which is pretty robust (it stood up to many years of use by my teenage daughter before I inherited it), which has bluetooth and wifi built in and is half as thick with a screen twice as big, has a battery that lasts for many hours (for years), and can be bought used off of ebay for under $100...and it runs the iFly software perfectly.Add a Stratus ADS-b coupled to it, and my old EIS engine monitor, a Trutrak autopilot, an altimeter and airspeed steam gauge, and I'll be quite happy. That's my next instrument panel. See enclosed image... Mark Langford ML at N56ML.com http://www.n56ml.com > -- next part -- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... KR> Phase 1 Flight Test Progress
All mods (for now) have been completed on N6242. Empty CG is 7.13 inches at 781.5 pounds. Gross weight remains at 1180 pounds. Condition Inspection is complete. Last flight of 4 was conducted in August 2014. Next flight (Number 5) will be treated as a first flight in consideration of the modifications done. Now waiting for that perfect day at K2W6. Ramp presence at KMVN for the Gathering on September 16, 2016, is still a viable possibility. Sid Wood Tri-gear KR-2 N6242 Mechanicsville, MD, USA
KR> morning flight
Hello everyone,This morning got up early got the little bird out and flew it down too?Winchester, TN? for breakfast. After breakfast I decided to make the short hop down to Hazel Green, AL( Marks airport) but? Mark is nowhere to be found. Sorry Mark, tried calling but answer. Should have called you yesterday, but you know things go.?It's hard to say were you wind up when your having fun.?
KR> Removable Front Deck
I made mine removable from the beginning. I was setting it up for IFR and was getting older and new the day wasn't far off that I wasn't going to be able to bend and twist to get under there. Last time I got behind the instrument panel (got lazy and didn't remove the deck), it took 20 minutes to get out. My wife got the biggest laugh out of it. She said I looked like something out of a Muppet movie with legs and arms flailing around. Funny now, wasn't then.MAKE IT REMOVABLE!?Gary Hinkle ?Old stiff A&P and Corp pilot. The KR was designed with retracts and mechanical brakes activated by a cable running just in front of the main spar.Flew my plane for years without needing to crawl under the panel to service brakes or much else.We don't build the KR to stock specs anymore. Now everything has changed and so has the design so don't blame the designer for changes made by the builder.Tommy W. KR> Jabiru 2200 available
I have a Jabiru 2200, was on my Avid, considering selling. It's a late solid lifter (good serial number as far as improvements). 85HP, can run auto fuel. It's apart for overhaul, all machine work done including crank check/magnaflux/dowel update by Jabiru Pacific (the dealer this engine came from), valve job, jugs checked, honed, new thru bolts, rings, bearings, seals, flywheel bolts, hi-torque starter, etc etc new in the packages. It is still apart as I was waiting to reassemble when it would actually be run. Had about 150 hours at overhaul. No problems, no prop strike, flew it from CA to East Coast ran like a Singer Sewing Machine. These use about 3.5 to 4GPH and deliver 85HP and weighs about 145lbs. . Also have a Tenn Prop with almost no hours. New Jabiru 2200 is $14,500. http://jabiruna.com/engines/how-to-order-your-jabiru-engine/
