I have a super hanger with a pulsar as my mate now but at the start I had no place to rebuild my Kr . the answer was to get a old travel trailer and strip it I found old 1984 wilderness for 300 dollars gutted it it was perfect I made a door at the back to bring it in and out I had heat and a/c I spent a year and half but I got it done!!. next door thought I was nut taking this nice trailer a part but they don't fly so they will never under stand what a motivated person will do to make his dream come true and make it fly. no way i will leave my airplane out side . mac n1055a

Mine did fail on grass.two mistakes one was the 4 inch tire the other was not reinforcing it make that three mistake no shoulder belt only a lap belt 13 stitches a cross the nose and a altimeter knob in the eye brow . so mine is over kill i did reinforce mine with the brace and filed lit with chop fiber and resin i hit a pot hole the other day no problem . see failure at mark langfords site under Billy mcfarland it shows the nose gear and my nose ouch!!! and wrong tire and rim.tire is long gone im using the same as mark Jones . l land where i want now !!! and love grass strips i live on one .

I just cant and wont use any thing other then Mobil one . gm uses it ford uses it in all there hi perf engines . some say it leaks out easy ? you may have hydraulically lock the engine . this happens in lot with fuel injected engines if the fuel regulator ruptures it will not turn over and will busted the nose right off the starter if you try to turn it over . did you remove you plugs and retry ? mac n1055a

Hello Bill, When you say your aircraft was "upgraded" to the fixed tricycle landing gear, what was it upgraded from? If the aircraft ever had the standard KR-2 retractable landing gear installed, it is not eligible for operation by sport pilots no matter what it's current configuration is. In order to be eligible, the an aircraft must be originally certificated and continuously operated within the FAA definition of a light-sport aircraft (LSA). So if your aircraft was originally equipped with retractable gear, it can't be made eligible to be operated by sport pilots. The other issues with the KR-2 are maximum level-flight speed and clean stall speed. Both of these speeds are too high according to the published "factory" KR-2 specifications. While it's not impossible that your aircraft might actually perform within the LSA definition with regard to these speeds, the FAA will go by the factory specs unless you have very detailed documentation to support your claim that your aircraft does indeed meet the LSA definition. all this talk and no one has said a word about glides . to me I find power off works the best in most conditions on my plane also I like the corsair navy type approach that way you can see all way down . with me if I make the standard stabilized approach it seams harder to land with mine no flaps the dam nose is just to high that way. at 85 -90 mph nose is high the vsi is at 1000 ft min and your fighting the power setting trying to control the decent hell with that . go out and watch a pitts land and it may help with the Kr next time you fly . flying the pattern is just deferent in the Kr you will always be inside the other traffic or you wont make it if you lose the engine . congratulations to all the new Kr pilots yaaw . stop over controlling and just let it fly two fingers on the stick or you will go out the canopy in a up draft due to the death grip on the stick mac n1055a _flymaca711689@aol.com_ (mailto:flymaca711...@aol.com) Washington DC

HI all happy new year. yesterday i was lucky and was able to fly my hanger mates XP pulsar i was not disappointed it fly's just like my Kr in pitch and roll. we were at 100 over gross and it just jumps in to the air the 912 rotex very smooth with reserve of power. plus side of the XP is the large flaps that is the only thing that i noticed different from mine he didn't have to work as hard as i do to make a short field landing mine has no flaps or belly board. i hope some of you got to fly for the new year it was great to fly both aircraft yesterday weather was unreal 69 deg f in Washington DC nice start to the new year ! mac n1055a

Hi to all you airplane nuts in Kr land. Dan or Jerry do you have a photo of your deflector. this seams to be a common problem with the vw regardless of intake system i guess do to longer runners on left bank. mine changes flight to flight egt temps change poor cylinder balance on hot and humid days i see the most change on a nice low humid day its temps are much more uniform and balanced. i do believe troy pettway made something but i never got a hit on the post for vortice generator thanks mac n1055a flying 2w6 st marys airport flymaca711...@aol.com

ken I flew today over the Chesapeake bay no problems with the revflow or the crankshaft (vw ) some of you guys keep banging on the vw cranks so that was on my mind . you must be starting it wrong heres how i start mine mix fullrich fuel on crack it 1/4 hit the key or it will flood. now if it sits for a weeks it gets a airpocket or something and i just bleed it at the gas stainer and its fine. make sure your getting full lean cut off on the carb or your flooding it draning the strainer on pre flight also mine has 3/8 line. don't give up its a good carb by the way what did Joe at revmaster say the first time you had problems did you try new needle? IM now using hi test 93 as were my friend in a Sonirri is using 87 pump. he laughs and says IM still wasting money but i like the 93 and that's my baby and that's how i screw up using avgas 100lL thinking nothings to good for my engine well after 200 hrs 100LL ruined #2 exs seat and guide other wise a nice set of 044 ruined! not cheap. well after call to Steve i rebuilt the vw and re read page #28 of the great planes assembly Manuel in big letters the use of av. gas will shorten the life of valvetrain and exs valves .after 140 hrs on pump gas a check with a boreoscope shows no signs of seat and vavle wear the hard way 100ll go out and talk with guys that are using auto fuel all smiles . note keep your compression down and you to will smile and more money for goodies for your baby. im old school and I do give it little marvel oil at times and with money saved I use high doller mobil one all the time mac n1055a flymaca711...@aol.com

I have a header tank only and i cant see any changes in pitch that i have noticed after a long flight i think i may add 6 gals and that's it you don't need it with vw. read below by dan deal You have probably already decided to install wing tanks since most of the KRs now built do have them. However, I have found in many hours of KR flying and many cross country trips that about three hours is all I can stand to sit in a KR. Since most of the VW engines burn between 4 to 5 gallons per hour, this indicates that 16 gallons would easily go the 3 hours and have some reserve. Therefore, it is my opinion that if you have around 15 to 16 gallons in the main tank, that is enough and would not warrant the trouble of installing wing tanks. My own N4DD has only 13 5. gallons in the nose. I found that I would often run about 30 minutes short of where I wanted to go. When I installed the wing skins on N4DD, I installed the tank from the front spar to the rear spar and between the first two ribs. This gave me 15 gallons per side; this is not needed. Since I usually only put 6 to 8 gallons in these tanks, the constant sloshing from front to rear is continually changing the C.G. and requires constant attention. First off thanks all that came to my flaming and put the fire out! All try harder but my spelling is what it is bad. I really had a hard time figuring out what was happening but working at a tire store and not finding a leak was getting to me but after reading what mark langford has on tire pressure i think i understand if its already below 32f the wind chill factor the tire is exposed to must be way below 0 combine that with the size of the tires tube its high mantence in the winter each flight. the tube has very little volume to it. for you guys with nose gear you will see what IM talking about it gets real squarly if it loses its air down right dangerous . hi all last Saturday I flow the Kr and was shooting some landings full stop and on the six landing after clearing the active i noticed it was bouncing on the rough pavement so i took a look and found that the tire became real low. this same thing happen last winter? well with the small tire its presser will drop so it looks like you have to adj the presser more often then i have been doing so IM going to check the press each flight below freezing . also IM not sure how much in the winter months 340x300 x 5 . i like to know if this is happening to other tri gears and what air presser below freezing . flymaca711689@aol thanks mac

i also relocated my cht coupler i had it under the plug and like Steve said it gave a higher reading like 75 deg also i burned a valve seat due to plug coming lose possibly all other valves were fine. proper location is on the right bank looking out of the aircraft #2 or #4 cly depending on mag or dist firing orders are different under head bolt (stud) and not the plug. mac mcfarland flymaca711...@aol.com

Hi all I went looking at the archives but I cant find the guys that have made a vortices generator behind the carb to correct for the different runner size making it rich on the long runner. i don't think its your vent i have tried it like that with no problem i also had it with just small hole drill in the cap. what you will find in the archives is flow check gals hour flow i cant remember but you will find that its in the achieves all have went to 3/8 line or better 3/8 i feel is plenty. also if you add a faucet type pump in line is wrong it has a check valve in the pump use this type for transfer only i was lucky it did not quit on me i was thinking it would give me redonece! wrong ! also use the old universal fuel filter old mopar type of the 70s mac

ken how are you starting it now that its colder. mine likes full rich cracked 1/4 fuel on key at the same time with revflow great planes intake. if you wash the plugs its going to act like its rich due to the fouled plugs till they clear up. my intake is new but it was the same for the home-brew manifold i have no carb heat but it has heat box with scat hose to the ex's stove. i have to be real easy at applying the ram air on climb out or it seams like its lean due to the over boast that you guys have talk about. new numbers idle 975 1000rpms static 3,550 rpm 52x 44 sterba prop .you just might be flooding it use Jim faughn method of tuning and you will probably will be OK it just sounds out of adjustment mac n1055a

hi all i am in the middle of converting to a great planes intake manifold and my case is old and uses a rear alternator . belts drove off the mag adapter so i have no clearance for the manifold so off it come so IM going to try using a solar panel all i use power for is starter and two min turn indicator. i have a transponder but i don't use it all the time my radio is portble so I think it might work the gel cell IM using seams very strong and holds charge good so all see . billy mcfarland n1055a

Its nothing like the extra the Kr will fly hands off after its trim out in smooth air. The Kr is high perf aircraft not aerobatic aircraft although some have spun it loop it rolled it. if you research it the Grumman Yankee and tiger are just big krs made of metal and all who have flown both will agree. all aircraft float if you are fast on your round out. it takes lots of time to over come this in the Kr its low to the ground. take apiece off paper and drop it what happens as it hits the floor the cushion air keeps it from settling same things true about aircraft the krs just low to the ground watch a piper that's to hot on landing float and more float the hotter it is the more the float Mac

now that it stop raining! here in the east its back to more testing. my revflow is a dream so far but IM having teething problems with it i changed my lines to 3/8 it became rich on take off i readjusted it less then 1/2 turn and its OK again. my question is that after take off i have to start leaning it or it gets rough is this normal and you just have to get use to how to operate it. After all if you get it to lean its going to quit. I think you just got to learn how to use it idle its the same as my zenith 1000 1200 rpms some say that's to high but thats what mine and all that I have seen idle at.
