HI Everyone, I finished my cowling mold and covered the entire surface with black duck tape. This is just basic shape of the the cowling, I still have to shape some cylinder blisters and spinner fillet . Hi Everyone, I started on my cowling this week. For some reason or another In couldn't get my mind around how I was going to build the mold.I came up with the idea of cutting the top and side in two diminutions and after doing that I was able to do the radius with sanding blocks. I still have to make the intakes for the carb , blisters for cylinders and the spinner fairing. Robert Pesak http :// photobucket .com/ robertskrs
KR> Landings?
Hi everyone, Mark I hope this will make you feel a Little better,on March 4th. I was doing touch and goes. The winds were 270 15G25 I was set up for landing on 19 at Lafayette, Tn. Well the first thing I thought of was was the weather briefing my wife gave me as I left the house.I THINK IT'S REALLY WINDY OUT THERE. What I thought was just a hard landing turned out to be much more. Prop strike and firewall damage. Everyone is involved NTSB, FAA and insurance company, the last three weeks have been quite a deal. KR> update on i fly 720
Hi Everyone, I used my iFlyGPS 720 for the first time, all I can say is WOW! You can't get a brighter day then were having this morning Nashville, Tn. direct sunlight is no problem. All of the sectionals, weather and airport info can be downloaded using a wireless connection or a flash drive. This unit has many features the i Fly 700 didn't have. I think I'll be very happy with it. Robert Pesak http :// photobucket .com/ robertskrs

Hello Everyone, I just finished cutting my spinner to the Sterba prop,I hope I like it. About three week I received the I fly 700, It worked great except you cant see the screen very well in the sunlight. I called Adventure Pilot last week and asked if I could exchange for the I fly 720,it wasn't a problem.I should have the new one in about a week. I'll let you know how the 720 works in about a week or so. Robert Pesak Hermitage, Tn. http://photobucket.com/robertskrs
KR> oil leek
Hi Everyone, The question I have is in regards to a leek I have around a couple of the stud nuts at the base of cylinders. The engine is a O200 that had a complete overhaul done about five years ago, it was pickled and judging by the the engine log book I trust it was done right. Is there any to correct this without removing the cylinders and resealing everything? As always, any help would be greatly appreciated. Robert Pesak Hermitage, Tn. http://photobucket.com/robertskrs
KR> First start
Hi Everyone, This is the moment I have been waiting for. I hooked up the fuel line, pressure primed the oil system, put three gallons of 100LL in the header tank and run the the fuel pump till I got fuel in the carburetor, only turned over about three revolutions before she came to life. I ran engine till the oil temp came up, and then I checked for leaks. The only one I found was around a bolt on the base of number three cylinder, maybe just re-tork will fix the leek.No more airplane noises for me.YE H.! Hi Everyone, I hope everyone is is well, I took some time to update my PotoBucket . One of the things I changed was the finish on my panel,at first I painted with a hammered gray finish,it wasn't long before I realized it was very fragile and would chip easily. After taking every apart and striping all the paint,I took it and all the other parts to get power coated with Matt white finish. I was hoping to fly too the next gathering, but at this rate I'm not so sure. Marry Christmas from the Pesak family. KR> Need help on the best Epoxy to use with micro balloons.
I personally am using using the west system. One of the things to remember is, when mixing micro balloons, the more micro balloons the easier to sand and it will weigh less. Hi, I?m a new pilot and a new KR owner; I live near Houston TX and wanted a inexpensive airplane both to build and to opperate. I just picked up a project that was started in 1974.I bought this Kr 1 (almost completed project) that is in amazingly good shape. It's all there, motor, prop, gages, canopy and everything is done except the finish. My little plane needs body work!, I called around to aircraft supply houses and couldn't get any clear guidance on the latest improved bonding agents with filler. I read the article on "micro balloons" and how to do the bodywork but again wasn't clear on the epoxy to use. Would someone who know this kind of stuff give me some direction and a resource to get? Please enlighten me. I would love to call someone and ask questions about body work i.e. adding more layers of fiber etc Anyone in Texas also would be good. :) thanks rick ___ Search the KRnet Archives at http://www.maddyhome.com/krsrch/index.jsp to UNsubscribe from KRnet, send a message to krnet-le...@mylist.net please see other KRnet info at http://www.krnet.org/info.html

All the hardware in question was hand made using a metal cutting band saw to cut the steel. or a regular wood cutting miter saw with a 60 tooth carbide blade to cut the 6061-T6. All the steel was welded using aTIG welder.Nothing real high tech in my shop. One other thing I didn't mention, when cuting the steel,a jig saw with a metal cutting blade works great for cutting steel.Infact I use it more then my band saw.
