I would easily buy that a KR-2 will maintain altitude at 18HP. Mine could maintain altitude at under 1/4 throttle. Hey Mark, next time you are up see what manifold pressure you can maintain altitude at. That will tell us. So why the interest in just two jugs now ? Over the years I've noted that even the most potent F/F installations usually don't result in cruise speeds of much more than 130 to 140 knots ! Mark Langford , ( and every one else ) feel free to jump all over this one ! Now the new R1200S has a claimed 122 hp , and 83 lb-ft with efi .Two thirds of that hp is plenty , and as for the so-so torque - I can think of three different redrives that should fix that ! I do see the potential for more leeway regarding ducting , w / b maybe this is worth another look ? ___ Search the KRnet Archives at http://www.maddyhome.com/krsrch/index.jsp to UNsubscribe from KRnet, send a message to krnet-le...@mylist.net please see other KRnet info at http://www.krnet.org/info.html

Problems: - Weight - Single ignition - Carburation\Fuels systems is not designed for aviation - Cost - BMW stuff is expensive (in Australia anyway) and spare parts are even more expensive :-) - Redrive weight and cost and re-engineering Plusses: - I don't see any That's my opinion, for what it's worth - maybe 2 cents Regards Barry Kruyssen Cairns, Australia k...@bigpond.com http://www.users.bigpond.com/kr2/kr2.htm -Original Message- From: krnet-boun...@mylist.net [mailto:krnet-boun...@mylist.net] On Behalf Of James Wester Sent: Monday, 15 May 2006 7:54 AM To: kr...@mailinglists.org Cc: KRnet Subject: KR> BMW BOXER ( candidate ? ) Hey folks .James here .
