KR> For Sale?

2008-10-12 Thread F Ross
You want to be careful. The Stanley twins built a
fantastic little steam car about a hundred years ago.
Random E. Olds liked it so much, he tried to buy it
from them. To discourage him and get him to leave them
alone, they told him they wanted one million dollars
for the rights to the car, an amount they were sure in
those days that he would find ridiculous. He took them
up on it and, being the gentlement they were, they
sold him the rights. Within a year, however, they had
designed and built a better steam car, and Olds gave
up building steamers and turned back to the gasoline
engined cars.
Are you SURE that price is high enough?

2008-10-12 Thread Don Chisholm
Hey Doug; Your panel truck is worth more than what I have here and my KR1 isn't
for sale at this time. What I 'm doing is raising capital for an Aeronca Chief
that I have on line that I want to use my Lycoming engine on. 100- 105 MPH and
good short field rough field performance is what I'm after with a view of going
on floats at a later date. I'm picking it up for $5000 and have to clean it up
and recover it and will build an engine mount and do a cowling and a Superchief
vertical stabilizer and put float fittings on at Nick Smiths. I've got that
going for me and think it would be a waste of an expensive engine on a KR that
is a marginal load hauler and a questionable 2 seater. I get a 65 banger
Continental with it that is 1/2 time with logbooks that is worth $2500 with
the plane. I've already got the paperwork to register it in the amateurbuilt
category and will have no problems meeting the 51% rule. I buy block time on a
Cessna 150 and got 7.1 HRs on it this week, it's
good to be back in the saddle again.

Doug:

Not a Chance Had the plans for 30 years and had the opportunity to go
fwd. witha Lt. Sport and came to the conclusion that my best shot at a craft
with good speed & range potential with a 4 cycle engine that was easy to
maintain filled the bill. The biggest obstacle to overcome was get its "Clean
Stall Speed" down to the magic 51 mph(44 kts). That looked like it was
achievable with the long wings. It should be pointed out that the original
plans book listed that stall to be 42 mph and that plane did not have flaps,
those were added to the plans around the '80 time frame.

I want a sport plane with good speed & range at less than a 30k price tag that
can be kept at home! What else qualifies?

2008-10-12 Thread Colin Rainey
Netters
Just to clarify a few things, I am not anxious to sell N96TA.

However, circumstances have occurred where selling it would bring some
benefits, provided the person is actually going to finish it. It is listed
in Barnstormers as some have written to me about it. Price for all is
$14,000 with over $17,000 invested. This plane has actually flown over 30
hours and just needs the new engine installation completed and then tested.

I am also willing to sell the engine to only a KR Netter, with mount and
electronic ignition, coil, starter, etc... for $5500. This engine has yet to
be run in, but has been completely assembled except for the oil cover,
intake, carb, and exhaust pipes (manifolds are installed just need lock tabs
added). WW manual is included, but again only to be sold to a netter who
will fly it.

If I sell the engine off of the plane then the airframe stays with me. I am
not looking to part the plane out so please do not write me about different
pieces of equipment it contains. It sells one of two ways to a netter to
complete: engine alone or everything. Thanks, contact me off net if you want
more details, etc...

My 2700CC Corvair engine built by Roy with his front bearing and set to zero
time by Roy last November. It is still at zero time because it has been
patiently awaiting another plane to fly. However, I need to part with it
and all the goodies that go with it for $10,500.

By all the goodies, I mean just about everything you need to put it on your
mount and fly away, including the prop, but no exhaust. It has most of the
WW gold parts and the black hub and a ring gear that was built by someone
else. It has a new starter, never used, and a rear mounted JD dynamo
(alternator).

2021-10-04 Thread Yahoo via KRnet
I am putting my KR2 up for sale. Due to some unforeseen events I need to clear
some space in my garage. As with all projects it is 90% complete with 90% to
go. The airframe is complete and needs the canopy mounted in the frame. I have
the canopy. It can be set up as conventional gear or Tri-gear. It is currently
in the Tri gear configuration. It has the belly mounted speed brake. It will
also need the cowling finished as I have a type 4 VW engine installed in it and
have standard KR cowlings for a type 1 VW. The engine has intake castings with
fuel injectors installed. The wings are the Deihl preformed ones and have 7
gallon tanks in each, they are wired for nav lights also. Final sanding needs
to be completed on the fuselage and wings to be ready for paint. The panel is
setup with full gauges and has enough instrumentation to be IFR although it
would be old school. There are dual nav/com radio’s and a transponder, both of
which are older components.

I am missing a lot of details so contact me for more information. I have photos
I can send. Full set of plans with build manuals and another set of plans only
(no manuals).

I have $6,000.00 in it so far, but will be open to reasonable offers.

Located in Northeast Pennsylvania.

This is one beautiful KR, or at least it was five or six years ago when I
saw it last. There are some pictures of it that I took in 1996 at
http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/klesterp.html . It is set up as a one
place plane because Les is a big guy. The EJ-22 is a newer engine than the
Soob in the photos. Les also makes a lot of KR spare parts, but I'm not sure
he'd be willing or able to do that now...

RV,
Please give my regards to Les. I visited with him one
morning in May, 2001, after we had a little KR
get-together in Canton called "KRs Over Texas"
sponsored by Larry Howells. Since Les had just
installed his EJ-22 and was unable to bring it, he
invited me over to his hanger.
You can see some of the photos I took at:
http://photos.yahoo.com/alamokr2
click on the "Aviation" album, the first 8 are Les'
plane.
The original paint on Les' plane was done by Dennis
Pointer, who also built one of the most beautiful KRs
ever flown. Dennis, unfortunately, spent about 10
months recovering from a bad accident which destroyed
his plane ("wind-shear" - went inverted on landing and
took out the VASI) and, last I heard, was not planning
on doing the re-paint on Les' plane after Les had to
re-do the cowl for the new engine.
Les has a LOT of great innovations on his plane and I
had fun visiting with him and looking over his plane.
He never seemed too concerned about the weight of his
KR and, though it is a two-place with a center stick,
he planned to fly it sitting in the center, straddling
the stick, left foot on the left-side left rudder
pedal, right foot on the right-side right rudder
pedal. Not a practice I'm willing to try (too easy to
get confused in a difficult situation) but possible
due to the small size of a KR.
I'm sorry to hear he is having these health problems
and I hope he's back up and running before long.

Friends:
I have spoken to Les numerous times over the phone, and hearing the news
called him this morning with our best wishes for his early recovery. He
tells me that he has been lucky and only is minimally effected by the
stroke, on his left side. He will sell the airplane and it may need a bit
of work but sits a very pretty bird, he would let go for 15K.
He wanted me to tell everyone that he expects to make another 70 years
though so not to worry.
Best regards

KR> KR for sale

2008-10-12 Thread Oscar Zuniga
I just saw John Esch's post about him putting his KR project (and Corvair
engine conversion) up for sale. Take a look at what he's offering... it's a
great price for what you get. Cris, in Rome- too bad you don't live here,
you could buy this project already begun, with many materials included at
good discount prices, like John's project. The engine looks like a good
one, too.

I'll throw in a non-political plug for John here: if I recall correctly, he
may have spent some time either jumping out of military aircraft himself, or
flying others to locations where they could jump out of them, in service to
our country. He will deal honestly and fairly with you. He lives at
Independence Airpark in Oregon, home of a thriving experimental community
with good tech counselors and homebuilders and I'm sure he gets plenty of
people looking over his shoulder as he builds.

And just to show that my skin is as thick as anybody's, throw me off the
list if you want- I'm 3/4 Mexican and 1/4 Scots-Irish. That means I like
tequila most of the time but don't make me mad or I'm liable to get a little
upset and offer you a glass of scotch ;o) We've had a few people log onto
the KRNet and stay about as long as it takes to read a half-dozen posts,
when they get bent out of shape and go somewhere else. It's their loss.
I've learned more about aircraft and construction, and met more really great
people, here on the KRNet than I can begin to list. It's good, clean,
educational, challenging, interesting, fun. And as the French would say,
vive le difference!

2015-04-05 Thread Kelly Lindblad
I have been trying to pass my Medical for about ten years, with no luck.
I built this Kr2 many years ago, flew it. The first time, only to have the
kr landing gear collapse because I never got the bulletin to put bigger
bolts in landing gear. I rebuilt the plane using the same gear as John
Shaffer-N 455JS. The only difference is I made it electric hydraulic. This
plane is powered with a Suburu E81 engine and propelled with a Al Shouse
wooden prop. It has a 16 gallon Aluminum gas tank and hydraulic brakes. It
has always been hangered and run about 4 times a year. I feel I am not
capable at 79 to fly this plane. Also Ellason Throttle body carb.

This plane is located in Benson,Mn. I can be reached at 1-320-843-4525 or

Maybe it is because airplane have vented tanks and quick drains while cars
have closed fuel systems. Most gas cans also have tight fitting caps.

Same logic that my homeowners insurance used when they could care less
if my garage attached to my house and next to my bedroom had two cars
and a riding mower with gas and all the gas cans I wanted, but they
refused to insure my hanger separate from the house because it contained
an airplane. Makes no difference that the cars can be 50 years old with
rusting steel tanks and the plane is inspected regularly to FAA
standards.

So, that begs the question, why is 200 gallons of fuel stored in the
tanks
of an airplane more save than 20 gallons of fuel stored in approved
containers that are completely sealed?

I rented my second one to a guy with a Cessna 210. He told me one day
that
he'd lost 19 gallons of 100LL out of the wing tank and onto the floor of
the
hangar about a week earlier. Apparently his petcock failed somehow and
drained one wing tank.

At least around where I am, some of the public airports sell mogas on-field.

It's one of the few places in WA where you can get booze-free gas.

That said, I found a private airport that rents T-hangars for $150/mo and
is closer to my house than any other field that's not a
residents-only-airpark, so that was an easy choice...

2015-04-05 Thread Gabriele Morino
Dear Kelly,
I?m Sorry, that you don?t want to fly and sorry, that this mail isn?t a buying
offer for you KR.

I just finished KR-2 and received the Airworthiness certificate. I have the
original landing gear.Tell me please, which bolts collapsed, wheel center or at
the spring bar or else?
Which bulletin (you mean surely the "News Letter")shall I look in?
Which gear(retractable?)did John Schaffer use??? before my gear collapse.

My gear retracted while taxi run, in Oct., the prop was broken and the
crankshaft got off center,I`m waiting for the engine done next week, so, I am
desparate to avoid another collapse!!!

It would be a great help, if you would give me these answer, or anything else,
many thanks!!

I am interesetd in your Matco wheel. Any idea how much it will cost to ship to
Remsen, NY ?
I will visit next month Jon Coxwell to see his Corvair engine (you may probably
know him from the Corvaircraft maillist), so the tailwheel can be shipped to
his place.
