hello, can somebody tell me from what time a lacemakers lamp (in Dutch : ordinaal), has been used ? Are there old paintings (16th or 17th century) with lacemakers using an ordinaal ? Re: [lace] Ecclesiastical work
In 1983 there was a beautiful exhibition : Kant uit Brugse kerken en kloosters (= lace from churches and convents in Brugge), and it had a publication too, published by the kantcentrum (175 pages). I don't know if it is still for sale over there, but once in a while I see that publication on the fleemarket. [lace] lace collection A. Lescure 1908
Hello, I am looking for 2 articles of Les Arts 1908 nr 78 and 79 about the lace collection of Alfred Lescure. (just to ask some information on the textilmuseum). thank you all, Magda from rainy Brugge - To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[lace] Margaret Simeon's lace collection
Date: Wed, 16 Feb 2005 17:59:41 -0500 From: Susan Lambiris [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [lace] Margaret Simeon's lace collection Recently I bought an english book, History of Lace, published in 1979 by Margaret Simeon with illustrations from her own lace collection. Judging by the photographs she had quite a good collection of lace; does anyone on the list know what has happened to it since 1979? With great curiosity, Sue. As far as I know the whole collection has been auctioned, by her heir, in 1992 somewhere in England. A little white tag was attached on each of the pieces, and in her handwriting the tag mentioned the kind of lace and period. She had indeed a fascinating collection of lace and her book is still one of the best in this category. I always wonder what happens with those unique collections, are they always scattered all over the world ? [lace] book in the latest issue of Kant
Hi Sue, Le mouchoir en dentelle de valenciennes, isn't really a book, it is a these made in the 3th year of the teacherscourse in the Kantcentrum by Rosanna Orgiu and Elisabeth Dejonghe. It doesn't contain patterns, only history, and it is not translated in english. I do have this this thesis. kind regards, Magda from cold Flanders The latest issue of Kant arrived here early last week. At the back a book is advertised called Le Mouchoir en Dentelle de Valenciennes by Orgu and Dejonghi. Has anyone seen this book? On the cover are two Valenciennes patterns, a hanky edging and an insertion; are these the only patterns in the book or are there several? Do they have working diagrams and prickings and is there an English translation. If anyone has seen this book and can answer my questions it would be appreciated. The book would cost about $NZ60 which is a lot to put out and then find there is nothing of interest in it! [lace] dentelle polychrome de courseulles
Hello, I did some bookshopping this afternoon in Brugge and had no difficulty in finding the 2 books on polychrome lace de Courseulles that were discussed awhile ago : 1) dentelle polychrome de Courseulles par Jean Claude Brulet et 2) dentelles normandes - polychrome de Courseulles par Claudette et Michel Bouvot (the numbered edition) , they are still available... I also saw Schwarzarbeit from Ulrike Löhr, someone asked about this book, some time ago. [lace] graduate
Hello again, This time just to thank all my fellow lacemakers from the list for their congratulations, I was overwhelmed with positive reactions, and this stimulates me to go on with the delicate fine laces such as Binche, Mechlin, and Valenciennes. It takes indeed a lifetime once you start research in this matter, and my appreciation for the lacemakers of the 18th century is still growing, but let's go on creating the future.
