Who looks after this account?
Please send any information to me PRIVATELY and not to the

I know this sounds like I have "lost it", but is anyone else (besides Susan?)
having problems with their internet connection?

I can't get online any more (but if you're seeing this, apparently I can get
out as did Susan. )

If any of you has an idea about how to help someone fix this problem, please
reply to us *privately*, so whatever the damage is... does not spread.!

Re: [lace] Arachne Flickr--new pictures posted

2017-02-18 Thread hottleco
Thanks Clay & Sue Babbs! For some reason, I was using an outdated password.
It's all good now! I uploaded some new pictures so you would see I'm not
loafing away the winter on the beach. Plenty of mistakes but I am pleased with
my first attempt at Ballantrae/Borris lace. My picots especially need grooming
so I hope practice is the key. Getting the tape to lie flat was a learning
curve although I think I got better as I went along. Unfortunately, the DMC30
thread does not match the Branscombe tape. It's lovely to work with but has an
ivory cast compared to the bright white tape. The Bellon leaf is my second
effort with the pattern. The floss is dreamy--midnight blue, purple & sort of
a bronze brown--"Seasons", made in Japan. I mixed it with copper colored
blending filament to make the plaited veins & used Valdani variegated perle as
gimp. Last but not least, I made another piece of Zakopane Polish lace. The
ruffled one is my first attempt, where I used linen thre!
ad & it was too big for the pattern. Too late smart! The second one was made
with Idrija cotton thread. The result is neater but cotton is not the
"traditionally correct" thread. At some point, I will make another using finer
linen. Today, USPS delivered some Pella linen thread so Rauma/Finnish lace
will be on my pillow as soon as I finish an in-progress egg. What is everyone
else working on? Sue I am eager to see what you do with the lily pattern!!
Sincerely, Susan Hottle USA

I went in by clicking on the Arachne link at the bottom of your email. What
popped up were pictures of extreme sports. I had a vertical menu beside the

Welcome, Joseph. I don’t think we have many rules – being polite and
courteous is probably the main one (and you are that!) and there are some
restrictions on advertising sales of items if one owns a lacemaking business.
Also it is important to trim the emails as some people receive the messages in
digest form and untrimmed messages take up a lot of that space.

I am surprised that you have to change to plain text only as I can post HTML

I struggled to Join Arachne, that may be an off putter. Once i got In I have
found it wonderful.

I tried to download the "handbook" from Majordomo server, but i got an error
message telling me that there was no such file.

I didn't want to breach any of your rules when posting, so i have been mainly
posting replies.

Outlook and Hotmail's servers wouldn't let me join unless I set my mail server
to plain text only (even though i didn't use any fancy formatting.)

I had to change the email type to "plain text only" to get the server to accept
my commands, and to also accept any new/reply emails to the server. I have to
re-set it to this format before every email I send to Arachne.

As for Facebook lace groups... I know there are many lacemakers who join

So that means whoever has the email address that our group Flickr
account is connected to, needs to change the group password and
then let us know.

Yahoo had 2 or 3 serious security breaches, and if your account is
likely one of those whose information was stolen, they are insisting
that you change the password for your own protection. One of mine was
among them, and since then I've had a true plague of spam purporting to
come from my own account - not the yahoo one, but the contact I had
provided for yahoo.

I've just tried to add a picture of the lace I took off the pillow last
Christmas and finally finished mounting today, but although yahoo still
recognises the password below it then insists this needs to be changed
and won't let me in unless I invent a new password... I've tried
reconfirming the existing one but yahoo just complains that's too
similar to the existing password, so I've given up for the moment...

For Cindy others, pictures are arranged alphabetically in sets so I'm in the
Ss near the bottom. Both pictures are also in the Photostream section, near
the beginning, tagged wire lace. BTW--does anyone know why Arachne wouldn't
accept my email response to a question posed on Arachne?? Mail Daemon labeled
my response as spam. BTW2--there are some adorable ornaments recently posted
to Photostream. I only got a quick look so don't know who to thank!

I have changed back to Yahoo - for the moment, anyway,, and it still does
not recognise me! Gr!

I can get in to view the photos OK, but can't make comment or do anything!

It still wants verification.!!! I can copy the distorted letters numbers,
but I don't know what answers to give for the following questions.

I went in to see Janice's Lester lace - which is wonderful, Janice. Well
done. You did the gimped veins beautifully. Wow!

But when I tried to post a comment (as above!) - of course it wanted me to
sign in. Previously I have had no problem, but today, it did not recognise
me, and gave a letter and number code. I put that in, then it wanted further
verification - like my youngest daughters name, or some other verification.

What is this all about? I am still with the same internet supplier, but
have changed the Browser.

If I Have to do the verification - what words do I use to answer their
questions?
Please Help!!!
Do I need to return to the previous browser?

Regards from Liz in Melbourne, Oz.

Hello Liz and everyone

I just went there myself. I don't have a yahoo ID, but I signed in as
arachne2003
and the password Honiton. I was then able to comment.
You should be able to sign in with whatever you use when you add a photo to
your own album, and in the fleeting moment that I did see the sign-in
window, I think there is a click-option for forgotten password etc.

Does this help? ...even a bit?
good luck - and yes you might want to try from the old browser to see if
that makes the difference
