[lace] Gros Point, and other subjects
Thank you for that Gros Point link., Excellent, and such good close-ups to explain various anomalies! Very sorry, Vivienne, to hear of the passing of your bobbin maker and friend. A Sad loss. Just a note to all those Aussies who write to anyone on a Comcast address - try sending your letters Priority! I understand a few have tried unsucsessfully to email people with that server. It seems to be the only way we can get our messages through. I get mail returned after 5 days from Clay and a Rocky Mts. Lace Guild lady, - Time has run out before the mail gets to the head of the queue!!! I managed to reach Clay after using the red ! Priority addition to my letter, - so perhaps that is worth a try. It is so annoying when you wait for an answer, only to get your original letter returned after 5 days ! Gr!! [lace] Gros Point
Thank you all for your kind comments on my piece of Gros Point needlelace. I must now dream up something special for 7 in 2007!! I really enjoy working Gros Point and the embellishments, where one's imagination can really blossom!! I just have to restrain myself a bit, as I tend to over embellish the pieces, and then they look tacky!!! :) But first, I have to make something with the theme The Sea for the Australian Lace Guild's Triennial Awards - for next year, I think. I have some ideas, but that is as far as I have got as yet! Oooh! that is coming around a bit fast!!! I better get started!!! from Liz in Melbourne, Oz, [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: [lace] Gros Point Flower.
Yes, Liz...this is wonderful. As one who has not tried NL I stand in awe. So beautifully traditional. This I would enjoy trying...guess I need to practice first. Great stitching. The piece is the one I entered in the Traditional section of the John Bull Trophy (UK), and I was awarded a Medal of Excellence for it. She obviously has an excellent camera, as I am so pleased at how the photo has come out. It was mounted differently for the Trophy Awards, and will be remounted in its original form for the IOLI Convention Exhibition. from Liz in Melbourne, Oz, [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: [lace] Gros Point Flower.
Liz, that's a beautiful piece! You're so talented. Obviously, the John Bull trophy was well-earned. Thanks for letting us see it. And I hope to see it in person (always so much better than a photo) next summer. Robin P. [lace] Gros Point Flower
Isn't it great that we all like different things,? I think the world would be SO boring if we all liked the same!! I so admire your Rosalibre, Tamara, but don't think I would/could ever do it - like Milanese, and Honiton - not my thing at all - NL is easier!!! (for me, anyway!) These differences are what keep the Lace Lists so interesting - as there are questions, and comments on so many different laces. We can all drool over them , even if we don't make them!!! - and we admire the skills of those who Do make them. It all adds to the fun of Lacemaking!
