Dear Secret Pal:

I love this month's pkg. Especially the flower painting book. I've always
wanted to do that technique and this book is wonderful, so detailed. I will
have to send you a sample of what I make after I get it down well.

The doll is very cute and the bag will come in really handy. I am going to see
if my gardening tools will fit in it and use it at the garden.

Your bobbins are cute, one was missing I think, there was a note from the post
office that the box was damaged and they had reclosed it. That's OK though,
I'll use one for a gimp. :-)

The shells are so pretty, I think I'll decorate a pot with them for my garden,
that will look very nice I think.

Well, secret pal, as usual you send really nice things. I look forward to next
month!

Rita

Dear Secret Pal:

I was very pleasantly surprised when I received a package from my secret pal
today.

So many nice goodies! I am enjoying them so much. Thanks for the Chakra Book,
so many interesting tips and again it will go well with my Reiki practice. I
use the chakras often when I am doing healings and this book gave me some tips
that I didn't know. :-)

I love the bobbins and the bookmark. Where did you find a book mark with my
name on it? Did you make it? It's so neat! I love the M&M's container LOL
I'll have to buy some M&M's to fill it with, though the bobbins do fit nicely...

The cat statue is so cute! I put her on the bookcase with my other cats, she
fits right in. The earrings are so pretty, though unfortunately, 1 earring is
missing. The box arrived damaged and the stuff was all unwrapped, it must have
fallen out.

The material envelope will go onto my pillow so that I can keep my scissors and
push pin in there when I am working, it's great also. And I love the teas! I
haven't had any new teas for a while as I had so many before, your timing was
great as I am starting to run low now.

All in all, wonderful presents indeed!

Thanks again!

2005-02-20 Thread Rita Lloyd
Dear Secret Pal:

It was great to open your package again this month. I just love all of your
gifts! I'm really enjoying getting the bobbins. Now I am starting to get a
nice collection going. I've been using plain continental bobbins and didn't
have very many that were different. You are giving me some great bobbins to
show off when I do demos.

I really love the perfume and that it is called Pearls and Lace. It smells
absoilutely delicious!

I love the book on Aromatheraphy, I have a condensed version of this book by
the same author, however, this book goes into a lot more detail. It will come
in handy with my Reiki and crystal healing.

You were asking about Wicca. Well, a shortened version is this: A Wiccan
believes in God and Goddess balanced with one another and all of us. We
believe that nature and humans are one with Divinity, that we all are Divine
and as such would never harm another. I celebrate the "Wheel of the Year", 8
sabbats and 8 moon rituals. We celebrate life in all of its ways, death and
life. We honor our ancestors and those who have gone before us and we honor
all animals, reptiles, birds and fish. So that gives you a small idea of what
I believe.

Also, this came shortly after my birthday, so it was an added present. I
celebrated my 50th birthday with a surprise party given to me by my closest
friends. It was such a fun time. I had black, silver and purple candles. I
had a black cake with various funny candles on it, such as a R.I.P tombstone, a
bottle of Aspirin, a book of Bran, a cane, and a pair of false teeth. And
since 50 only comes once in our life, I had a crown and a throne to sit on to
open my presents. It was a hoot!

I wanted to say how special I think it is that you shared some of your mothers
things with me. I think it is really special and I love stones ( I collect
them) so that makes the turqoius piece even nicer. I don't spangle my bobbins,
however, I do use beads and such with some of my lace pieces, these will be
really nice. I'll have to design a lace piece that incorporates the beads you
sent. I'll send you a picture when I complete it. That will be a while
though, as I am currently in the midst of making a bridal garter for a close
friend who is marrying in April. It's a torchon piece with fans and hearts in
white with gold gimps. I'm really liking how it is turning out. I've done
about 40 inches and I plan to make 60 inches so that it ruffles up really
nicely.

I was looking through my lace books and surprised myself on how many I have
now. I have "Bobbin Lace Making" by Pamela Nottingham, "The Book of Bobbin
Lace Stitches" by Bridget Cook and Geraldine Stott, "Bobbin Lacemaking" by
Doris Southward, "Practical Skills in Bobbin Lace" by Bridget Cook, "The
Torchon Lace Book" by Bridget Cook, "The Bobbin Lace Manual" by Geraldine
Stott, "100 New Bobbin Lace Patterns" by Yusai Fukuyama, "Minature Bobbin Lace"
by Roz Snowden, Chrysanthemum Lace" by Catherine Belleville and "Plants and
Flowers in Lace" edited by Bridget Cook. I love lace books, there is so much
to learn! :-)

Thank you so much,
I look forward to next month.

Rita Lloyd

Alice, Thank You so much for the absolutely wonderful last package. I got
it and it was wonderful!! It had so many wonderful things. It had Trinket
boxes (so cute), snowmen ornament, some teas, a couple cute Teddy bear
things, a good looking cookie cookbook and a couple of other wonderful things.
There was a most wonderful pink rose corsage that I love in a great box. There
was a super beautiful glass bobbin that Mom was eyeballing and a cute Teddy
bear
divider pin. Sorry about the trouble with the packages You have been a
great Secret Pal. Thank You so much and God Bless. Amanda Moad

Dear Secret Pal:

I am just getting back online from being unable to access my computer while I moved.
I am slowly but surely catching up on all my lace emails.

However, I was so glad that my computer is now up and working so that I could say
thank you for your lovely gifts. I just received them yesterday.

I have started a scrapbook of all of the postcards and goodies that you have sent me.
This time, though, I've decided to frame the beautiful flower card. It certainly
brightened my day and helped me to see springtime in the winter. I just love it.
What is the name of the flower?

I also really love the round hanky you sent with the violets on it. They are one of
my favorite flowers and will grace my table very nicely.

I always look forward to receiving your gifts - it is so nice that you put so much
thought into your packages.

Thank you again,
Rita Lloyd

To My Secret Pal,

A very welcome package, which arrived on a fraught day, so it was doubly
welcome!

The beaded gifts are lovely - you must have spent ages making them, and I do
appreciate them. I don't think I want to hide the little one away in a
closet, as they are both too pretty and need to be on show - I shall
definitely try to find somewhere to put both of them, so that they can be
admired.

The threads are lovely - the lame silk is so delicate in colour, and the hank
of the brighter colours is just as pretty - something *very* special is needed
to use them for!

The serviettes will come in handy - and the scene on them is so cheerful, it
really brightens up the greyness of winter, so they are much appreciated. The
soap is a lovely happy colour, but the scent of mangos is great - so that has
been put into use already, and I am now smelling lovely too!

The bobbin - what can I say? The wood is one I haven't come across before,
and it is slim and delightful, as well as being so beatifully spangled, so I
will always enjoy using it.

I will think of my Secret Pal each time I use all and each of my gifts, and I
do thank you so much for your kindness and thoughtfulness. I was sorry to
hear of your troubles with the diabetes though - I am having a similarly
difficult time, with the glucose levels being very high, but with no obvious
reason for it, so I am spending quite a lot of time at the surgery at the
moment - not fun, as I am sure you know! However, I do hope that things get
better for both of us!

Carol

I've received your most recent gift and I have to say that I am continuing to really
enjoy your monthly packages.

I've been looking for a new and different pattern to make in lace and the prickings
you sent are just lovely. I really look forward to making them. I'll send you a
picture when I've completed them.

As always I love the postcards. Especially the lacemaker in Brussels. I hope that
one day I can take a picture of myself next to her. Brussels is on my wish list. :-)
I'm putting together a scrapbook with your postcards in it so that I will always have
a way of looking at them and remembering you.

Thank you again dear Secret Pal.

Regards,
Rita Lloyd

Hello to you,

I am sorry I have not replied sooner - family visiting, and preparations for
Mum to go into hospital have taken over our lives!

But - I was so delighted, once again, with the parcel. The hankie is lovely,
and almost too pretty to use! I will treasire it. The Project Book is great
- I will get the digital camera out, and photograph the items currently on the
pillows, and try and work out how long each is or has taken - it may be more
efficient to put *new* projects in the book though!

The little Mini-Didge tortoise is great - I am not precisely sure what he is,
or does, but I am looking after him very carefully in my purse! The sweets
are being much enjoyed, and all the grandchildren gave them their approval at
the weekend - I am surprised they left any for us to eat.

The bobbin is delightful and lovely - I have never even seen a pewter bobbin
before, and I love the glittery stone in the bottom of it - I shall use it,
and think of my Secret Pal!

Thanks once again for your kindness and thoughtfulness - I do appreciate all
the gifts.

Best wishes,

Carol

Dear Secret Pal:

I just got your package yesterday and found within a wonderful surprise.

I just love the hooded bobbins! They are beautiful and they feel good in the hands.
I think I will use them for my gold gimps on the lace piece I am making for my parents
for their 50th wedding anniversary. What good timing! I was just getting ready to
wind the bobbins for the piece. I'll post my web page when I am finished so that you
can see it.

I also love the postcards. Your comments made me feel as if I was there. I collect
postcards from around the world and these will be a welcome addition. :-)

Thank you so much,
Rita Lloyd
