Hi Charles

I have a set-up which is running the Buffalo/Orinocco card which is based on
Eigerstein and I use on an old laptop. If it is of any use please let me
know and I can let you have the files etc.

What's the status of LEAF and wireless? What, if any,
cards are known to work? I know the wireless
encryption is diaphonous, but I need to use it at home
anyway and most of my stuff get's tunnelled through
ssh anyway.

I've been looking at the Netgear and DLink wireless

I have to.

RE: [Leaf-user] Problem with cipe

2001-09-18 Thread Sandro Minola

Hi all, Hi John

Ahh, just with the IDE kernel! That explains much. CIPE has to be compiled
against the same (exact the same!) kernel tree as you it will be running on.
I compiled it against the floppy kernel.
If you want to use it with IDE, I can create a new tree and compile it for
you. Mail me, if you need it or not. But don't expect it before saturday...

greetings

Hi Sandro,

I have made some progress here. It only seems to panic with the IDE kernel
loaded, it seems to work just fine with the floppy only kernel. Even booting
with the IDE kernel on the floppy also causes the panics. At least I can get
something going by using a floppy at this stage.

I will follow your advice and ask the CIPE list.

Hi all

I'm very sad about your stories about CIPE.
I wrote on leaf.sf.net that it's tested with the following
kernels. Well,
I didn't test CIPE in practice. I just tried to load the
module, run the
executable and configure the interface, but I never tested it
in real.
I know that CIPE is a very tricky tool (I was not able to
compile the newest
CIPE, I tried everything).

I would be very happy if someone has an idea why those
seg-faults happens
after loading. Perhaps you should ask this on the CIPE list. I
don't use
CIPE yet, it would be better if you ask because you have more
expierence
with it.

(I'm just the compiler, not the user.. ;) )

Hi Charles

You can download the files from

http://www.ashlyn.co.uk/Downloads/lrp/Eigerwavelan

This also includes drivers compiled for this kernel, it may contain the ones
you need.

I FINALLY figured this one out :-)

First, make sure you are running the right terminal. If you're at the
console, it should say linux, not vt100. To change it, use

export TERM=linux

However, the usual problem here is that some programs appear to look for
/usr/share/terminfo and LRP puts terminfo into /etc/terminfo (more
logical and historical to my thinking)... so this may fix it:

ln -s /etc/terminfo /usr/share/terminfo

The program is complaining that the terminfo database does not
have vt100 information. Look in /etc/terminfo and subdirectories
to find out which terminals your system is configured for. This should
correspond to the terminal (terminal emulator, xterm, console) you are
interacting with. The console terminal type is linux.

I did not know there was an LRP that didn't come with vt100
support.

[Leaf-user] ni65.o for LRP EigerStein not Redhat.

2001-09-18 Thread Philippe Faure

I am looking for ni65.o for kernel 2.2.16 for the LRP distribution
Eigerstein. I have not been able to find it online. I did manage to find
a copy of it from a Redhat distribution kernel 2.2.16-22. When I use
insmod ni65.o, I get the following error
./ni65.o: can't handle sections of type 116.
I was wondering if it has something to do with the fact that it hasn't
been compiled for the LRP version of the kernel since they are the same?
I was wondering if there was anything that anyone would be able to do to
help me. I have to admit that when it comes to programming. I am at a
bit of a loss

Thanks

Thanks for the reply Charles.
My network.conf is unchanged except for the change IF_DHCP=eth0 eth1. I
did include the 's and make sure that only eth1 was in IF_AUTO. After boot
it displays messages after the lines for DHCPD that say Please contribute
if you find this software useful such as:

Listening on LPF/ETH1/OO:E0:29:91:F7:ED/192.168.1.0
Sending on LPF/ETH1/OO:E0:29:91:F7:ED/192.168.1.0
Sending on Socket/fallback/fallback-net
Starting additional network services:.
[:eth2:unknown operand
No interfaces defined for DHCP!
Starting /usr/sbin/dnscache

Then the next lines are the login.

Thanks for the help,

I believe this should work...Note that you are listing the wrong variable
name, and you need quotes around the two interface names:

IF_DHCP=eth0 eth1

(or whatever the two interfaces you want configured by dhcp) should do what
you want...remember to remove interfaces configured by dhcp from IF_AUTO.
