Re: [LU] Fwd: Official hes gone

2022-02-28 Thread David Komadina
Gamble?

It's well documented that his style of play only works with the right
players, and one might see this as a sign our injured players might not be
coming back in time to make a difference.

Knowing that we'll get the same result with the same players you'd be
stupid to keep trying the same thing.

If I knew that everyone would be fit and available next match then I 100%
agree Bielsa should have been kept on, but as this seems not to be the case
there's not much to lose trying something different.

Loved the ride, sad it's come to an end, thanks Marcelo for everything!

I might have had a chance were we still in the EPL...

Loves his football though which is great!

Re: [LU] Cagliari fans on Cellino

2014-02-17 Thread David Komadina
Not much option really. If GFH have put all their eggs in the Cellino
basket then all we can hope for is he buys the club without further delay.
The longer this drags out the more money the club will lose.

Agreed, we face a better chance of promotion with Cellino over Bates or
GFH. Yes we may have shut the door on other owner options but we can't look
back at those now - there is only one way forward in the short term and it
has to happen quickly and smoothly for the good of the club.

getting promoted and hope we can stay there.

What gets me is that everyone still goes to the games and hands over their
£30+ regardless of the fact the club has had absolutely no ambition
whatsoever this season.

This season has been a complete waste of time as the club treads water (or
slowly sinks). its no wonder, to an extent, the players aren't trying.

In a way don't blame Varney if things are as bad as McDermott was hinting
at. Don't excuse it though - don't get me wrong.

With the big pay cheques professional sportsmen collect also comes a big
responsibility in that they are the face of the club and continually they
forget that.

Zoopla pay a huge amount amount of money expecting the advertising of their
name to gain a beneficial return. But if some idiot wearing their name
upsets their customers (even just a small percentage) then its not money
well spent from their perspective.

And its not just the player's behavior in the first place, if the press
keeps the story alive then Zoopla's name will continually be associated
with this act as the photo is continually reprinted.

you're asking ask well here's an option that
  will work for
  everyone,
and no need to be an internet
techy or any other sort of IT guru.

  Just go to http://watch-bbc-iplayer.com. The
  website is Expat
  Shield
and let's you set up a proxy so
you can iPlayer and the other players for UK
  channels. The downside
  is
as it's free you have to put
with a bit of advertising at the start when
  you want to watch
  something
(you can pay for a premium ad
free version) and I know some people whose
  anti-virus programme
  went
  nuts when downloading the
software. It does work though but I only
enable it when I need to
  use
  it.

There are other options I'm sure others may
  come up with and I've
  got a
couple as well but need to
  check some details first.

calls to get them to accept i really did not want them anymore. i googled a
bit and saw this was how they operate in the uk as well. bloody thieves.
was right annoyed when they bought the championship rights here.

Incidentally I have cancelled my foxtel and won't be getting it again until

I was clearing out some old stuff from my mailbox and found this that was

at Reading now...

On 27 August 2010 15:34, Tim Leslie t...@3leafieldvillas.co.uk wrote:

From a Reading supporting mate of mine ... and we thought we had it bad!!!

It is a truly warped mind which can't rest after a defeat in the Carling
Cup, but after an abortive attempt at sleep I find myself turning Ben
Hamer's goalkeeping over in my head as well as apparently more pressing
concerns about needing a new boiler and pending appraisals with my team at
work (you've put here 'strengths - accounting'. That's your job though,
 isn't it?).

Quite why I thought that watching Reading play would improve another dire
day spent at work after battling across Berkshire on First Great Western's
tardy and expensive service, dodging lycra-clad oxf*rd with fold up
 bicycles
in the vestibules is beyond me. At least at Reading I can tell everyone in
no uncertain terms what I think of their wretched performance as opposed to
work where I spend the best part of 8 hours a day keeping my tongue. And
 now
the more I think about it, the more things trouble me, for instance:

 - Why did I spend £350-odd on a season ticket to commit to watching Alex
Pearce slice desperate clearances at 45 degree angles to his kicking foot
and Jem Karacan donate the football to the opposition as if they were
collecting sports equipment for flood-ravaged Pakistan? It's not as if I
didn't already know back in the summer that these two - and a good many
others on our books - are pretty absymal at football. It should be about £4
to get in to watch a football match really, tops. I blame Liverpool fans
 and
 Northern Rock.

 - Why do we have a failed ex-Slough and Woking manager in charge? Don't get
me wrong, I like Brian. He's quite clearly a thoroughly bloody nice bloke
which is at least an improvement on his predecessor.

 - Why is our best player Icelandic? Iceland is to football what, erm, Bejam
 is to Cricket.

 - Why is my own personal favourite player - also Icelandic - a 34-year old
who is slower than a mini-bus full of Chelsea fans with a flat tyre? Are we
otherwise so devoid of quality and excitement that watching a man
 apparently
made from granite smash foolhardily into the opposition is the most
 entertaining thing on offer?

 - Why do I hate Adam Federici? Is it because he is seemingly the only
Australian who is crap at sport? Or because every post-match
 mistake-denying
interview is delivered in that chirpy accent after he has spaffed a couple
of low, near-post dollies under his fat belly?

 - When will Brian Howard ever make a tackle? He likes a physical challenge
about as much as Walter the Softy does.

 - Why is it a £3.50 return fare from Reading station to go and watch this
sh*t? What am I getting for my money, a film showing en route? You f*cking
 crooks.

 - Why (when we have the spackiest, most simperingly middle-class fan base
 in
the land) do we have probably the jobsworthiest stewards in the entire
country, who themselves are dictated to by an ex-fireman with a speech
impediment? And why don't the stewards make themselves a little more
jobsworthy outside the ground rather than erecting a safety fence to keep
250 gibbering Scunthorpe fans at bay and sending the home supporters off to
walk all the way round the ground to get to their cars parked at a bargain
 £7 in Worton Grange.

 - Why is it only at football that £7 for 2 hours parking is deemed an
acceptable price? At least Dick Turpin wore a mask.

 - Why do I have to mind my p's and q's at football anyway? F*ck me, there
are 8,000 empty seats most weeks; can't we sit all the kids in families in
some sort of enclave with a sound-proof safety fence? At football, people
shouldn't be thrown out for swearing, they should be ejected for doing the
EA-SAY clap or for wearing face-paint or a jester's hat; these things are
 far more offensive.

 - Why does modern football disenfranchise me so? Preening Premier League
fancy-dans getting paid far too much and taking themselves too seriously.
Sadly, in the Championship we seem to see the second-tier of this kind of
c*nt which in a way is worse. SKY Sports News in HD bringing you the news
that Barnsley have banned Vuvuzelas for next season. I hope all 92 league
clubs go bankrupt, yes including Reading. It's all your fault, Jimmy Hill.

 - Why, after 30 years trying, haven't I been able to find a more fulfilling
hobby than watching a crap football team on a far too regular basis? Yes,
there is another choice of hobby of course, but much more of that kind of
thing and it'll fall off in my hand.

Oh well, at least this has stopped me thinking about the boiler for 5
minutes. And I suppose the biggest WHY here is WHY did I bother writing all
this when I hold at least 90% in massive contempt anyhow.

 Follow-up:

 Beautifully put, Floyd.

If that don't work, then try Eric's suggestion of swapping cables, try

For me in Oz, my 6yo got given a hand-me-down chelscum strip by one of
my wife's good friends and I've had to grit my teeth as he's worn it
to training last season - thankfully he's still a bit young to
understand this stuff. Its hard to get him into Leeds given how late
the infrequent viewings of games are here but I intend to try harder
this year. My fault - I should record them but he shows little
interest in watching any sport on tv and his little mates at school
and football all wear prem league or serie a shirts at his training.

I must buy him a leeds something if I can find it here before the
winter season starts for his under 7's.

Symptom of modern  of modern football!

When I used to go on Pudsey 2 bus (I think) and pay about £3 to get in and
go in the Lowfields (3rd from end as wasn’t brave enough).  It was pocket
money prices or dad taking me. My first trip to ER was for the 0-0 draw with
Man Utd in 1978 or 1979 which was a friend's dad who took 5 of us as his
birthday present!  That’s £200 of present by todays standards!

Imagine that now.  My lad would need to save up for weeks to afford a
 ticket.

We have lost the culture of going to football every week with kids.  It's
now a once a season treat hence you don’t get that much interest with the
 kids

Melbourne Storm, a rugby league side. Yeh they kept 2 seperate books
on what players were paid, and when this was discovered they had I
think 2 premiership titles stripped from them - as well as their World
Club title they won against Leeds Rhinos.

Its one thing for a club to get caught cheating and get punished, but
for the record books to say 2011 - no champion brings the whole
league into disrepute.

There is also the brown paper bag scenario where a player who requires
more dosh will get it somehow. Like prohibition, something that is not
wanted will unfortunately see more laws broken.

From a prem league perspective a salary cap would (perceivably) reduce
English clubs chances of succeding in Europe - therein lies the major
 hurdle I think though.

Write down on paper the attendance figures for the 20 teams...and

In my view, the only way there would be any equality in football in the

2011-09-21 Thread David Komadina
As an overseas lister who only gets to occasionally watch Leeds the
most depressing thing for me that sank in last night , and you're on
a similar track to me here , is how far behind the top of the PL we
are.

I can't believe we beat this side last time and had honourable
losses to other PL opposition - we were miles behind.

I haven't thought too much about missing the heady heights Leeds
reached before relegation until seeing us being dismantled last night.

And yes, any of the subs they brought on last night would be very
useful in a white shirt right now.

On 21 September 2011 13:47, Robert Heath rhe...@asd.edu.qa wrote:

The fact that one club can keep so many quality players on their books
(paying them astronomical sums no doubt), and rarely play them. Michael Owen
probably earns more per week than all the 11 Leeds players. And also the
other side of the coin..they have the pick of the best young
players from all over the world.

It all goes to show that what I have said on this list before (and been shot
down in flames every time) is true: Ridsdale was right.10 years ago, the
gulf between the haves and have-nots in football suddenly widened to an
unbridgeable chasm. Leeds needed to get themselves on the rich side of that
gap, and Ridsdale saw that and gambled. But O Leary scuppered the plan, and
 the rest is tragic history.

On a more prosaic note, I am seriously worried about Snodgrass. With Max
gone, he needed to really step up, but not only was he crap last night, his
attitude was atrocious. TV watchers will have seen him telling Bromby to
fack off when the latter was having a go at him for not tracking back before
 the first goal.

And what about Bromby? He always looks OK to me, and I thought he wasn't bad
last night, but Grayson doesn't seem to have any faith in him.

I have serious reservations about White Nunez. The former has speed and
guts, but I fear lacks quality on the ball. The latter just seems to be
unreliable. He produces some good stuff, and then the next time he gets the
 ball he will look useless.

I really like Clayton, but I hope he doesn't start thinking he is Steven
 Gerrard.

Glad to see that Brighton are playing a tough match tonight. 4 pts from our
next two away games would be great!
