More importantly, why the giddy f*ck would anyone pay money to go to Wimbledon and sit on a hill watching it on a telly when there's games going on the non-show courts. Idiots. It wasn't quite enough, doesn't make him a loser. Any pro sportsman who gets to be top 5 has bags more bottle than you, me or anyone else on this list - they couldn't get there without it. Both Henman Murray have managed a decade or so each of totally unreasonable pressure re Wimbledon magnificently. Totally agree. Football is totally messed up if you'd take Premiership survival over winning the FA cup. Success for a PL club is defined by finishing in the top 4? What the hell is that about? In 20 years time, will people look back at Everton's 'Moyes glory days' of finishing in the top half of the table consistently on a small budget? Will they f*ck? They will see that Scum won the league god knows how many times. On 15 May 2013 12:27, Alan Edgar alan.ed...@yahoo.co.uk wrote: Bet they'd happily relinquish the Cup to avoid relegation. I wouldn't, if I were in their shoes, and here's why. They are in the history books for ever as winners of the FA Cup (a trophy the mighty LUFC have also won precisely ... once) having beaten the stinking rich reigning Prem Champs with an injury time winner - it won't get any better than that for a club of their stature. So what if they got relegated ? They might be back next year - Hull haven't taken long to return. Sure, they might never get back, but then again if they'd stayed up this year then they'd only be favourites to go down next year, especially as Martinez is almost certain to leave (and would have done so even if they'd stayed up as he has to move onwards and upwards career wise now). They've earned (not been given, like Stoke 2 years ago) a place in Europe for the first time, and even if they don't last long, they will enjoy the ride. Instead of carping at them because they get smaller crowds than us, we should be looking to emulate them, both in the over-achievement of 8 years of Prem football (while we've scratched our ar$e in League 1 and the Championship) and the style of football they play. Second half we resorted to pretty aimless hoofs again which rarely came to anything, hence Barkley disappeared from the game. Brown was non-existent and I agree with Rich Austin was poor. Nick From: Richard Walker richleed...@yahoo.co.uk To: leedslist@gn.apc.org leedslist@gn.apc.org Sent: Saturday, February 2, 2013 1:37 PM Subject: [LU] Cardiff Didn't deserve to lose this game, but I disagree with Colin's post match comments that we deserved to win. Yes, they only had one chance and that was from a bad mistake and we missed an open goal but in general our play was littered with poor passing and mistakes, I think we're trying to play more football and in the first half we were by far the better side with Varney providing the pace and movement. I think the issues are: 1. the lack of pace and similarity of Diouf and Macca 2. The similarity and limitations of Brown and Austin in the centre of the park. Surprised Green was dropped. 3. No natural width to the team. Barkley is not a winger and he really suffered today on the right wing. The positives for me came from e central pair who were outstanding especially Lees who was really dominant throughout and in the first half we moved the ball well and showed high energy. Second half, they looked sharp on the break without worrying Kenny. Our game disintegrated, Austin kept giving the ball away and after Byram's mistake for the goal he seemed to lose confidence. Hopefully, only a temporary blip. Colin didn't change things though and maybe that was because there weren't really any better options on the bench. He eventually put Haribo (no idea what his name is and to be honest I don't really care) on but he had no impact. There's not much else to say really, Cardiff are the leagues runaway leaders but on this performance we are as good. Scores: Kenny - 6. Nothing to do ,, kicking a bit dodgy. Byram - 5. Bad , bad mistake for their goal as he played the ball across his own penalty area straight to Bellamy, who I'm sure tried a shot which he dragged across goal to Campbell who slotted home. Peltier - 8. Did well, showed good strength and good pace. Lees-9. Man of the match. Dominant display. White - 7. Got skinned early on but stuck to his task and in general did well. He tried to push forward second half but it wasn't effective. Brown - 5. Pedestrian. Austin - 4. Put a lot of effort in and did do a few decent tackles however his shooting and passing today were woeful. Diouf - 6. He is an intelligent footballer but I sometimes find it hard to watch him cos he just can't do the things he wants to do. Also, his falling over antics annoy me. Varney - 6. Whilst Diouf is a clever player with no pace Varney is lively, unintelligent player. First half he was arguably our best player but he lacks awareness, plays with his head down and at times his composure isn't great. Mcormack - 7. Worked hard but had few opportunities. Subs: Haribo -0 absolute garbage based on these 20 minutes. Ungamley is the word I use to describe him. He doesn't like a footballer, he's 6 ft 4 but looked shite in the air. To be honest he just didn't look like a footballer. A bit premature maybe to make a judgment but instinct tells me we shouldn't be wasting money paying this guy and should ship him back to Belgium pronto. Crowd - 19,000, poorish atmosphere and very few Cardiff fans. Comparing this to some (probably most) our performances this season it was pretty decent but there's still a lot of work to do. Hopefully Morison can provide some pace up front but I'm not sure what he can do with the midfield. What's wrong with Somma? I can't believe Haribo took his place. Celtic could be ready to cave in even though they play Juventus in the Champions League next month. Becchio, 29, is set for a switch to Carrow Road. He is rated at £3m having scored 19 goals this season but has handed in a transfer request. The Argentine striker was left out of the squad for Sunday’s FA Cup win over Spurs and seemed set for a move to Turkey until Norwich made their move Remarkably Leeds will have to pay cash — around £1m — plus Becchio to get forward Morison, 29. Norwich entertain Tottenham tonight and could also sign Birmingham defender Curtis Davies, 27. -- ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org PETE CASS (1962 - 2011) Rest In Peace Mate

Granted a rare, exclusive interview with Leeds Chairman Ken Bates on the eve of the titanic Leeds v Chelsea League Cup quarter-final he keeps his ink fluid to conduct an astonishing and personal attack on LUST chairman Gary Cooper hours later. It is a well-known fact that Bates and LUST are anything but friends. I also thought that despite being very much aligned with their right-wing politics, Ken didn't have much time for the Daily Mail. However in an exclusive Ken throws open the doors to his Leeds City Centre penthouse flat, which is opposite the Malmaison should you ever be passing on your way to the stadium (I'm sure Ken would more than welcome you in for a cuppa should his tax domicile status permit him to be in), to the Daily Mail's Neil Ashton and gets out his Chelsea scrapbook and even says Roman Abramovich, who he once dubbed a shyster from Siberia would be welcome in the ER boardroom as long as he wore a tie. The usual claptrap of how he saved Leeds United and ploughed £20 into the stadium follows and ends with Bates may be tempted to crack open the bubbly if Leeds beat his former club tonight. However Mr Ashton then pens another article about another Chairman, the LUST Chairman Gary Cooper. Entitled Business failures of potential Leeds buyer who 'loves the club but hates Chelsea' stand out The article alleges that Mr Cooper has three county court judgements against him and there is a freezing order on his home in Hull. His last company was wound up in 2011 and his business partner, his brother Simon is currently serving seven years for growing cannabis. A story of public interest? Maybe if Gary Cooper was actually buying the club. As far as I am aware he has merely spoken to interested parties and never actually prepared a takeover bid? I'm not a LUST member and have often been suspicious of their sources close to the deal hyperbole however I do feel this is nothing more than an attack on the credentials of Gary Cooper who represents 8500 members no matter what Ken Bates thinks of him. A coincidence maybe, that the story smearing Gary Cooper by the same journalist appears just hours after his visit to the Bates's holiday home in Leeds? ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org PETE CASS (1962 - 2011) Rest In Peace Mate ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org PETE CASS (1962 - 2011) Rest In Peace Mate

Dignity. And people still back Bates? I wouldn't even wipe my arse with the Daily Mail. On 19 December 2012 17:12, John Boocock j...@boocock.net wrote: *Message from the Chairman* There are a few days in your life you never forget: your wedding day, the birth of a child, and the day we beat the red half of Manchester in the FA Cup at Old Trafford are a few of mine. Today is another one of those days for me and for that I have the support shown to me by our members and the wider Leeds United fan base to thank, following the publication of an article in The Daily Mail which had no purpose other than to discredit me personally, and the very good work that we as volunteers have done on your behalf as LUST. When I was contacted yesterday by Neil Ashton of The Daily Mail and he told me of his intentions to print the article I asked him what his motivation was for doing so, and he couldn’t answer other than to say he felt it was in the public interest. The intimation was that I had upset someone enough for them to take the time to look at my background and my family history, investigate my personal financial affairs and publish a story that doesn’t tell even a quarter of the facts or have any moral consideration for the innocent people it would hurt - namely my wife and children who have done nothing to deserve private family matters being made public for all to see. That didn’t matter to Neil Ashton, nor did it matter to his ‘source,’ but it mattered to me not because of any hurt or embarrassment to myself but because of what it could do to my family, and to the loyal members of LUST for whom all of the work the board and I have done has been for and about. Today I have read the replies to the email I felt it was vital we sent out yesterday, firstly to be honest with our membership and secondly to give you all the option to decide if you have confidence in me. You did just that in your thousands and overwhelmingly you decided I should stay on as Chairman. Not only that but some of the kind words in the replies, on the social media and the forums and in the texts, emails, PMs and DMs I received right the way through the night have made me feel so lucky to be part of a family as proud, as dignified and as supportive as the Leeds United supporters are. In my hour of need you did not let me down, at a time when I desperately needed your support, to know you had confidence and believed in me and what we are trying to achieve as a Trust, you came forward in your thousands and offered your support. I will never forget today. I will never be more proud to be Leeds and I will never be able to thank you all for your kind words, and it will always remain a fact that whoever I have upset enough for them to take the time and effort to become the ‘source’ for such an article, they will never ever know what it feels like to be Leeds and Proud. On behalf of my family and myself I offer my genuinely heart felt thanks to you all and a promise that your faith in me will never be forgotten. The Trust will continue to work for its members and a better future for all Leeds fans regardless of the ups and downs life throws at us. It's therefore fitting that on the day our members have united behind their Chairman that our club faces an old foe, and I would ask all Leeds fans to unite and get behind the team on the pitch: this is a game we can win. Surely that means no more money into Bates' pockets? Isn't this the main reason the boycotters were staying away? I honestly think that the majority of the boycotters would come up with any excuse not to go, instead of just admitting: - I don't miss it - I've grown out of it - I can't afford it - I've found other things to do - I prefer shopping with the wife - I prefer decorating with the wife - The wife says I don't want to go anymore ;-) What I (we?) wanted was new investors to inject cash into the playing team - isn't this what we've got? [LU] LUST lose credibility in one fail swoop
http://www.leedsunited.com/news/20121010/joint-statement-from-club-and-gfh_2247585_2945358 Leeds United and GFH Capital have issued a joint-statement regarding the on-going speculation surrounding the proposed investment in the football club. Following the latest bout of speculation, which included a number of inaccurate media reports and a statement from the Leeds United Supporters Trust which stated the group had been in direct contact with GFH, the two parties have moved to clarify the situation. David Haigh, Deputy CEO, GFH Capital said: A lot of nonsense has been written and said by people claiming to have 'sources' or inside knowledge, which has resulted in incorrect media reports and even quotes, but as noted before there are confidentiality clauses that are in place, and we are both respectful of those. We are focusing on the transaction and not rumour. The importance for us to talk to the numerous fans and supporter groups of Leeds United on the acquisition of the club cannot be underestimated but at this time, we have to respect the confidentialities of a deal of this nature. As such, neither I nor any employee of GFH Capital has been in discussions with the LUST. This is clear from some of the detail within a recent statement from LUST, notably, how GFH Capital 'has only emerged as potential buyers in the last six weeks.' In truth, GFH Capital has been working with the current Club owners since June. Salem Patel, Board Director and CEO, GFH Capital said: Both GFH Capital and the current owners of Leeds United are working hard to ensure as swift a conclusion to this deal as possible and we appreciate the patience and understanding of those waiting for a positive announcement. We will be talking to the various Leeds United supporter groups and their members as soon as we are able. Leeds United CEO Shaun Harvey said: There has been a lot of comments from many different quarters as to the proposed investment in Leeds United. As with all speculation not all of it's correct. And we are pleased that both are able to clarify the situation. ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org PETE CASS (1962 - 2011) Rest In Peace Mate

I think the main beef I have with Becchio is that he gets more praise than he deserves. It seems we mostly agree he's not *that* great but he'll either make do at this level for now (in the Naef corner) or he's a bag of toss we should get rid of (in the Walker corner). For some reason though, some fans seem to think he's amazing. Untouchable at this level. Brilliant in the air. The best player on the park. Their first player on the team sheet.
