[LU] Incoming Jaidon (assumed name) Anthony

2023-09-02 Thread John Boocock
Leeds United are delighted to announce the signing of Jaidon Anthony on loan
until the end of the 2023/24 season.

The 23-year-old arrives at Elland Road from AFC Bournemouth, in a deal which
will see Luis Sinisterra head in the opposite direction to the Vitality
Stadium, for the remainder of the campaign.

Anthony spent his youth career with Arsenal, before going on to join the
Cherries in 2016.

He went on to make his debut for Bournemouth in December 2020 against Preston
North End in the Sky Bet Championship, before amassing six further appearances
throughout the campaign in all competitions.

The following season, Anthony established himself as a key player on the south
coast, making 45 appearances as Scott Parker’s side won promotion to the
Premier League.

During the 2021/22 campaign, in which Bournemouth finished as runners-up in the
second tier, he scored eight goals and provided six assists.

Last season, Anthony helped the Cherries keep their Premier League status,
featuring 30 times as they finished in 15th place.

The winger has started three of Bournemouth’s four matches in the current
campaign, with his last outing coming in Tuesday’s 3-2 victory over Swansea
City in the Carabao Cup.

He becomes the ninth and final arrival of the summer transfer window, alongside
Ethan Ampadu, Sam Byram, Karl Darlow Ilia Gruev, Glen Kamara, Joel Piroe, Joe
Rodon and Djed Spence.

Anthony will be unavailable for Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship fixture against
Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road, but could make his Leeds United debut after
the international break against Millwall at The Den, on Sunday 17th September.

permanent transfer. Kamara has penned a four-year deal at Elland Road, running
until the summer of 2027.

And his ancestors ruled Egypt

Actually there appears to be a lot of activity on the transfer front at the
moment, players coming in from Rangers, Nrwich and Germany according to the
pundit world. I am finding it hard to keep up.

At this rate Meslier will have gone to Germany too. A lot of this could be very
good business, especially as Gnotgottogo and Cyrencio look to have been seduced
by our famously measured manager.

Onwards!

he’ll be a big player for us.

Re: [LU] Incoming confirmed

2019-07-01 Thread John Lee via Leedslist
I know there’s been plenty of hoo hah about getting Clarke back on loan, but I
hope we haven’t agreed to any clauses that he must start x games if he does
come back? I say that because whilst he’s been really effective off the bench
he’s also looked lost at times. Harrison will probably start more like last
season, and hopefully he’ll be more consistently effective!

No surprise - Harrison is back for the season and Ben White has also joined us
on a season long loanKnow nowt about White but should be decent back up for
Cooper and Pontus (assuming he stays)
Harrison will need to up his game a bit to bring fans onside - hard to know how
much his lack of effectiveness in creating goals is down to him as opposed to
the poor finishing which meant we needed more chances to score than any of our
rivals. He did show glimpses at times to suggest he can be decent (move for
goal at Derby away in play offs his best moment)Not sure how much game time he
will get if Costa and Clarke both come on loan too

Bielsa has played de Bock as left centre back in the pre season games so maybe

Pearce maybe as back up - probably unrealistic to expect him to play full

Possibly also a sign there aren’t the right players available at a price we can
afford. Heard that Hugill from Preston has gone to West Ham, don’t know how
much, but obviously we can’t offer anywhere near what the Premier can offer.

I’m all for signing players for the future but we need some that can come

Desperately need another centre back.
Pennington must be made of glass and presumably Shaughnessy won’t be fit for

Re: [LU] Incoming

2018-01-31 Thread Simon McNally
Is this a sign that the club has given up on this season and we’re looking at
building for next?
I’m all for signing players for the future but we need some that can come
straight in and perform.
Desperately need another centre back.
Pennington must be made of glass and presumably Shaughnessy won’t be fit for
Saturday? Think Pontus is one yellow off a two match ban now

Re: [LU] Incoming

2018-01-31 Thread JONATHAN WYNNE
Seems like we need Forshaw and Roberts both to make an immediate impact on the
results. A tall order. Only Lasogga from memory has made an instant impact (2
debut goals) but overall the jury was soon out.If only we could boss midfield
and get a  pipeline of chances coming in each game. Then I think we’d have more
consistency from whomever is playing as striker. Even Hull last night seemed to
always carry a threat, coming forward (esp down the left) in waves. And (even)
Millwall bossed both games and created chance after chance. Too many of our
chances arise randomly, not looking in any way planned. And I’m not seeing
evidence now of our set piece maestro’s input - did he advise Pablo on all
those wasted free kicks last night? Hope not.

Boro supporting mate said:

Oh, ForshawGood player. Good user of the ball, good technical player.
Possibly falls into the category of midfielder who doesn't have one main
strength, so hard to define, but I quite like him.

Doesn't score enough goals, but keeps hold of the ball well and good with
it in tight areas. Neat and tidy.

He's not really a ball winner, but he has energy and gets about. He's an
all round solid player at Championship level.

Sky sports (and others) are claiming we have signed Adam Forshaw from Boro for
in excess of £2m

Anyone on here who watches a lot of football know much about him - reports
suggest he is defensive minded and gets stuck in - is he the sort of player we
have been lacking ?
Also reports of two young (17yr old) Poles on trial . For the first time in a
long long time we do seem to be planning for the future.
On one hand that is great and refreshing, but on the other, we need players now
and it is so hard in this League to plan for the future when every single
player who does well at any level (think garbutt, Rose, Woods, Taiwo etc) is
liable to being poached. At this level we are at the mercy of every Premiership
club and a few Championship teams who pay big wages whether that be first
teamers or youth players

Dave SKY "Leeds have agreed a deal to sign Middlesbrough's Adam Forshaw, Sky
Sports News understands. The fee is understood to be in excess of £2m and the
26-year-old is set to undergo a medical.Forshaw, who joined Boro for around £2m
in 2015 and played for the club in the Premier League last season, has made 79
appearances and scored two goals in all competitions while on the books at the

2017-01-30 Thread nat...@sky.com
I know what you mean re youtube highlights - remember Adryan, Botaka, Nunez et
al who all looked real world beaters, Having said that until we see them in the
flesh it is all we have to go on really (and can never tell how good or poor
the opposition is) and this lad looks excitingGuilliam whatshisface from Sky
does seem to rate him quite highly and Clotet does have some knowledge of
Spanish football.
The big question is can he do it in the Championship. Like most fans I love
seeing players who ran at defenders, I love watching Sacko however infuriating
his end product is at times, and used to love Max Gradel when he was at LUFC.
Given the general good vibe and atmosphere at ER these days, an exciting winger
can really get the fans going.
Monk has mainly sorted out the defence , keeper a bit dodgy and there is a
worry if Bartley or Janson are out, the midfield is solid defensively as well
so now he is going to the next step with Pedraza and maybe  Fletcher.     Not
sure how they will fit in - Fletcher especailly if we carry on with the same
formation with one up front, but despite yesterday I still rate Monk and will
trust in his judgement

Good signing.

Get in Bridcutt and a quality centre back and hold on to Taylor and I would
say we are top half, with a shot at top 6 provided we have luck with
injuries etc.

Bit surprised that no-one had commented on our latest signing (or 'all but
signed' as the YP says)Pablo HernandezHe certainly has a great pedigree and IF
(always an 'IF' with our signings) he has still got the legs etc he could be
the new Strachan ? His quality and skill has never been in doubt - it his
inconsistency and lack of commitment (two things we could never say about
Strach) that may be cause for concern, BUT if he can fit in as a number 10 just
behind Wood with pace in Roofe and Sacko out wide we could become a really
exciting teamNot sure where that leaves Mowatt who, interestingly has changed
his number back to 27 from the 10 he wore last season - a superstitious move
based on his form in his two seasons or to accommodate Antonsson who has now
got number 10, who knows.
Just watched the LUTV highlights from Sat and there is one passage of play -
leading to the corner from which we scored the winner - which really gives hope
for optimism
Vieirra robbed the opponent and steams forward (dare I say "A la Cook" ?) and
then gives it to Wood who lays off a simple but excellent ball into the path of
the onrushing Sacko who sprints past the defender leaving him in his wake and
puts in a great cross that is almost met by Roofe who has run hard and fast to
get there. Had Roofe managed to get on the end of it and score it would have
been a great goal, in the event the defender was just about able to turn it for
a corner - real top class defending but the sort of football that gets fans on
their feet (OK we all stand up anyway, but you know what I mean)

We have lost Cook which is a blow but the rest of the leavers (apart from maybe
Antecnucci) were dead wood and we have brought in skill and pace - things that
should make us more entertaining and lead to lots more goals for us. Tighten
the defence (Bartley and Green could both go either way) and we may be a half
decent team -I do think in Berardi and Taylor (if he stays and stays
interested) we have as good a full back pairing as any in this Division so if
Cooper can improve or Bamba cut out some of his errors and if Diagouara  (and /
or Bridcutt or Vieirra) can give them some protection, this could be a decent
season (ie fighting for top six - not running away with the league!)

agree it's a risk, but then he does have the pedigree, so if the deal is
short term or based on appearances it could work out for us.

Have been worried about this. If Ross McCormack is now worth £11.5m (he wasn't
before) how can we hope to compete.

Now teams coming down always struggle at first but last year was the first time
2 just bounced back with no problem. QPR were always going to struggle. Boro
spent loads so did Derby.

You can see the same this year with Norwich and Newcastle. Villa might be ok
due to decent manager and new owners

Can't see with the change in money how we can break the top 10 without £10-20m
being spent

We've spent a couple of million - hrrrayyy!

Crystal Palace, a little team in south london have, so far spent £50million,
they literally can't spend all the money they are getting from the new deal.
If we don't get up this year and get our snouts into the Premier gravy train

[LU] Incoming ?

2016-01-22 Thread nat...@sky.com
We may already be splashing the Byram cash - or getting another no mark on the
cheap, you decide
Toumani Diagouraga
We have agreed a fee with mighty Brentford for their upcoming youngster (28) a
midfielder with an eye for goal - he has scored more than ten (11) in only 394
appearances. These appearances have been for some really top clubs - as well as
Brentford he has been at Rotherham , Peterborough and even Hereford.
OK I know nothing about him apart from what is says on Wikki and to be fair he
was Brentford player of the season last year and may be a very good player, but
he is not one to get the pulses racing and bring in the fans.At 28 he is as
good as he is ever going to be but should have a few years left in him. It
could be though that this is a sign that we will not be getting Bridcutt at the
end of the season unless we are aiming to play with 2 defensive midfielders -
may work and allow our two wingers to really go for it. Also it may signal the
end for Adeyemi a player I really thought we had done well to sign and who
looked so promising in his first few games.
I suppose Diagouraga IF he signs does have a Championship pedigree of sorts and
is a better bet than some Serie B nobody

Well, here we go again.
After being told, we have money and want to make quick signings three weeks
go by.
Having flogged off another talented possible future international academy
graduate, we may sign someone.
With bated breath, we ask who? None other than a clapped out second-tier
'never was', who caused a sensation by not being as dreadful as previously
feared.
Two acts showing a genuine declaration of intent. An intent to irreparably
wreck us beyond hope or recognition.

Looks like we may be adding a 22yr old right winger to the squad - from Dutch
top Divison side Excelsior - from Congo (as was the unforgettable Tresor Kandol
who should have played for Brazil as the song went) - called Jordan Botaka - as
always there are some great highlights on his youtube clips - fast, skilful
with an eye for goals according to that ! He is nicknamed the 'Wizard' so must
have something about him.
At 22 he will fit in with our young team and would offer us something different

Looks like a Hockaday signing. Full of ambition.

2014-08-25 Thread nat...@sky.com
Not really news, been on cards for a while, but Casper Sloth signs for 3 years
- cost around £600k

who asks Rich W - 22yr old centre mid who has Danish full caps inc playing v
England at Wembley before WC finals - led to believe he is the one who
flattened Gerard

Seems decent on the face of it but one fans view is that he is good when team
is good but goes missing when things are tough - if true - just the opposite of
what we need. We need someone who can take a game by the scruff of the neck and
inspire all around him.
We also need pace, power, guile and an ability to go past players - no idea if
he has any / all of these.

Seems him and Adryan could be the end of our transfers in - 12 to date

On one level we have lost Ross and Lees - the only real first team starters and
replaced with Sharp and Bellusci - as for the rest it has been squad players /
bench warmers -mainly old and past it , replaced with Serie B players - mainly
young and uproven
Plus of course losing the keepers Kenny (Butland) Ashdown and replacing with
Silvestri and Taylor

Other change of course is losing the failing / failed McDermott, a fans
favourite, with the untried / inexperienced Hockaday a fans laughing stock

has not had a single good match for more than a year, in the danish league. So
another crap midfielder.

[LU] Incoming ?

2014-07-28 Thread nat...@sky.com
Just seen this via Twitter so not sure if true - he does look a prospect
Zan Benedicic, born 1995 in Kranj (Slovenia), attacking midfielder full of
fantasy, can be considered a new Leeds player.
He will arrive on loan from AC Milan. With the team coached by Filippo Inzaghi
Benedicic is in the USA for the Guinnes Cup.
He himself confirms:
“We are waiting all the documents and the last confirmations, then I will sign.
I am at one step to become a Leeds player”.
How do you consider this opportunity?
“Very good to me. They wanted me intensely and I always liked English football”.
What’s your personal purpose at Leeds?
“To achieve a place in the starting eleven”
Not bad for a player not yet 19 years old. A great talent, by the way.
Emanuele Giulianelli
There is also a lot of talk of Robert Aquafresha (sp?) coming too - his career
looked stellar 6 years ago when he was the new Baggio or whoever but his career
has gone backwards since then - one site has a graph of his 'value' and it is a
very steep downward line ! His goals on youtube are from 4 or more years ago
for the most part - again no idea if we are close to signing him

Very quiet today re Viviani - his agents seemed to be saying today was the day
despite Cellino telling his we no longer wanted him over the weekend ( bit of
brinkmanship or cannot afford him - you decide)

it has certainly been an 'interesting' close season so far
