Re: New member and question

2019-05-15 Thread MWF
Hi Eric,You've come to the right place for answers.  Curt is spot on with his advice.  You will be AMAZED at how much "stuff" gets packed/jammed up in the channels of the aluminum extrusions.  Use your cell phone's camera and a strong flashlight to check that the channels are clear.  Then, as Curt suggested, apply Dyna-Glide.  It's Great stuff! Two more things to check:1.  That the spacing between the various rails are such that they are as parallel as you can get them.2.  Refer to Owner's Manual for the Mill as regards the correct positioning of the extrusions.  They have 4 "faces" - and you may think they are all identical. If the person that did the initial assembly thought that too, you may have an improperly put together Mill.  One "face" has a fine line molded down its center. - longitudinally.  Your manual will instruct you as to which way that face of the extrusion should be oriented.  I don't recall how the manual says to put it - but your manual will specify.Welcome to The Group.Mac-Original Message-

Hello EricHave you tried Dyna-Glide? its a wax based spray lubricant, This spray should be one of the first tools you need, to keep the  Legacy moving as smooth as possible.I would suggest to you to clean the rails and slides as well as you can, and then check to see if everything is in the correct placement. You should be able to move the carriage with one or two fingers, it should take ounces . to move the carriage not pounds , start with a break down of the Legacy / Carriage and rails to see if your problem is dirt or mis-alignment.I wish you luck. Please let us know what you find.C.A.G.

2019-05-15 Thread MWF
If I remember Joe's photos, his seemed to have a "leg" extending outward from both sides of the 180 degree arc.The one in Tim's photo seem to have only one leg.In any case, I agree - it looks like it was meant to be a vertical vise - with those holes around the arc being for indexing common angles - 10(?), 12 1/4(?), 22.5, 45, and 90 degrees. Thanks to all for sharing the pics and your knowledge.Mac-Original Message-

I believe that is vertical vise or part of it .I have something with a
piece with an arc cut in it to adjust for angles . Can't find a picture of
it mounted to get it right . Never actually used it.
