RE: Extended Revo And raiser

2019-09-08 Thread bulkeley
No the revos rails don’t drop very far to fit taller jobs, moving the table out
and down would give you more Hight but then you would need to put longer cross
slide rails so you could reach the middle of the rotary table with the router
which I do have. Moving the rotary table out and down might cause stability
problems too I guess you could brace it underneath with a couple of small screw
jacks anything is possible. I do that with the revos milling table when I’m
planning large jobs on it.

RE: TK Made Items

2019-09-08 Thread Tim
After using the index ring on the rotary table for a while I learned that it’s
useful only for the odd degrees. A turn on the handle or ¼ turn is accurate
enough. I do also have a index wheel that mounts on the underside that engages
a pin that works extremely well for a control freak. Unfortunately, it’s
limited to the number of index plates you own.

If I were to buy another laser for engraving, I would find a guy that owns one
and use him to cut your parts. C02 lasers you see available for cheap die from
simply sitting around. The tubes are like a pop bottle, they loose their fiz
and you have to buy another one. So I think let the other guy spend his money.
Only problem is finding one that knows what they are doing.

Curt (and all),

I think I said this in an earlier comment on this Mill: I would not be
surprised if the owner of this Mill started to put it together and never got
around to finishing the task. I say this for a couple reasons. It looks too
"pristine" - no Mill I have seen posted for sale has looked this "new".

The photos reflect that it was either:

1. Not completely put together - which is why we don't see the X-Axis rod and
its associated pieces on it, the Follower Nut for the Y-Axis Carriage, and the
"gear train" installed. Even the "Dust Collection" pieces are squeeky clean
and some still in their wrappers.

or

2. They put it together; used it; then took it apart and did an EXCEPTIONALLY
GOOD job of cleaning it up for the photographs. (Doesn't pass a "common sense
test".)

What do the rest of ya'll think?

Here is a question I asked earlier - and no one has addressed it. Anyone have
a guess or know what they are for?

"Go to the next to the last photo - the one with the 2 good sized pieces of MDF
with bolts & wingnuts in them.

Any idea what those two MDF pieces are for?

My guess is they were to be put horizontally between the two lower frame
extrusions - serving as a work surface for milling flat work pieces."

Thanks.

Mac

OK Mac.

I did not see that. I was hoping it was there? after-all nothing would work

As I said earlier,From the posting, the man says he had to cut photo's out to
make room in the E-bay posting.

In Good faith, this looks to be a nice machine.

Have a good night.

Re: Lathe Centers Sale - Check this out.

2019-09-08 Thread Tim Ziegler
Thanks Mike, yes beautiful fall weather is upon us for sure. It's always
nice to be able to slip on a sweat shirt or something rather then wishing
it wasn't so hot out.
Do you ever get to Minnesota? I guess we have a wood turners guild or
something in the St Cloud area. Same area as the Central Minnesota Wood
Workers Association.
Rollie has said that several of our members also belong to the turner's
club. I'm turning more and more but always production or replacement parts
for furniture.
Let me know if you'd ever consider coming this way we could put you up.

Tim this is awesome and will help carry on the legacy of the "LEGACY". I

Included with the mill are many optional accessories such as a z-axis carriage,
mobility kit, thin template and thin stock follower, 5 router bits, and 4x gear
package and several more. All of which when purchased new totaling over
$2,150.00. All of the assembly, operation, and accessory documents as well as
training videos are included as well as web site access. Can make CNC quality
moldings for a fraction of the cost. The mil sold new for $2,995 plus over
$2,150.00 in optional accessories. Free shipping with full sale price only.If
not picked up locally, time will be needed to disassemble and carefully
identify the sub-assemblies for shipment so that the purchaser will be able to
reassemble the unit without much difficulty. Additionally, the complete
original assembly instructions will be provided. |

Hello Everyone,  Yesterday I posted this one. but it was placed under the other
e-bay 1000ex. posting.
This one has me wondering???  To me it looks to be. A military grade case of
Dis-information.  There is just enough proof that this is real. (Parts that are
shown) you would only have if you owned the machine.  like the Z axis
templates...    Only three router bits look to have been used, everything else
looks brand new.The only thing I know to be sure is, A design kit. and a set of
Plaster dogs.  (AND For Tim Z. the only set of steady rest plastic guides that
I have ever seen, out side of a catalog.)
This might be a scam? or its a new machine that was NEVER Put together. Other
wise you would see pictures for the machine not photos form the Legacy Catalog.
Something to think about?
A X4 gear package!!! ( I missed that on the first view!)
When someone offer's you EVERYTHING with out proof. the Yankee Trader Motto
comes to mind.  "Buyer Beware".

Re: mill for sale

2019-09-08 Thread 'Curt George' via Legacy Ornamental Mills
 Good morning Mac.
You could be right, about this mill not being put into use before.  (I will
also point out that there are plastic sides that should be in the carriage
assembly.)
I think the boards were made to do, flat work milling.(again looks to be
un-used)
NOW on to the BIG Question. WHO needs this  unit?  It could make someone a very
nice machine.( But I cant use it. even though the price looks affordable.)

Even the "Dust Collection" pieces are squeeky clean
and some still in their wrappers.
or2.  They put it together; used it; then took it apart and did an
EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD job of cleaning it up for the photographs.  (Doesn't pass a
"common sense test".)
What do the rest of ya'll think?
Here is a question I asked earlier - and no one has addressed it.  Anyone have
a guess or know what they are for?"Go to the next to the last photo - the one
with the 2 good sized pieces of MDF with bolts & wingnuts in them.
Any idea what those two MDF pieces are for?
My guess is they were to be put horizontally between the two lower frame
extrusions - serving as a work surface for milling flat work pieces."
Thanks.

In any case, I think the lathe centers should work on both machines. Their

RE: TK Made Items

2019-09-08 Thread Tim
I found some other simple links. Keep in mind, some of this is really old.

Here’s some attempts at making the rotary table easier to use.

This is one of my favorites.
https://www.ornamentalmills.com/tips/TK_rotary_table_indexing/index.html

This is a huge time saver for small parts and large a well. Centering
difficulties have been eliminated. My only change after this was to add a low
profile t-track (not shown) for additional clamping opportunities.

https://www.ornamentalmills.com/tips/TK_rotary_table_indexing/index.html

I didn’t make this, but I discovered the harbor freight dial indicators fit
perfect in the router from hell. No need for my digital scale conversion. I’ll
admit I mostly use my digital scale though.

https://www.ornamentalmills.com/tips/z-axis_dial_indicator/index.html

Well I think that is all the simple links to my stuff. There are so many
pictures to come.

Tim

TK Made Items

2019-09-08 Thread Tim

I’ve been asked by a lot of members in the group if I have a catalog of
everything I’ve ever made for the Legacy Mill. I don’t. So I’m starting a
topic of items that I’ve made and have long forgotten or still would make if
there is enough Interest. I’m going to post them slowly over the next few
weeks as I find them. There will be no specific order. So here it goes.

Taller Legs for model 900 2” extension, also made 3” and a 4” extension legs.
https://groups.google.com/d/msg/legacy-ornamental-mills/LukcjELgxvg/Owpgaq7DxeoJ

My QC Direction changer. After talking with Curt George about the idea of a
better direction changer I came up with this.

https://groups.google.com/d/msg/legacy-ornamental-mills/LHkNujx8wkc/eewTSJa8wNoJ

That Post shows my TK Reciprocator inspired by the Atkins reciprocator from an
antique machine. Mine has more travel and options. It needs to be updated.

http://www.artscopes.com/legacyornamentalmill/tools/waveattachment/waveattachment.html

where does the time go…

One of the easiest way to level you 900 bed was with my TK Bed Height
Adjustment Tool. Four plates with a specific hole pattern to enable close to
infinite adjustments My extended height legs shown already implemented a
similar hole pattern so the rods could still be used for leveling your bed.

http://www.artscopes.com/legacyornamentalmill/tools/bedheightadjustment/bedheightadjustment.html

An extended gear set that fills in some holes in the standard set of pitches.
The truth is I can cut gear from about the 16 tooth to 120. I don’t cut Legacy
gears that are available from the factory.

http://www.artscopes.com/legacyornamentalmill/tools/extra_legacy_gears/

I made some horizontal clamps using 80/20 and a shopfox clamp. They worked
like champs and cost less than the legacy versions and had a quicker setup.

http://www.artscopes.com/legacyornamentalmill/tools/horizontal_clamps/

Then I really started thinking to much about indexing. I made a couple pages
that some people have not seen.

http://www.artscopes.com/legacyornamentalmill/tools/index_system/

This is different than from crank handle indexing, that’s Mike Input.

Here’s another thing I made for my rotary table. I don’t like having the
handle in the inside of the machine so I made two versions, and sold the
second. It makes so much sense to just shim your rotary table and direct
connect to the spindle and therefore the crank. So Simple!

http://www.artscopes.com/legacyornamentalmill/tools/rotary_table_mods/

Making life even easier I sold and x and y lock system for the 900’s Simple
lock plates and knobs and a bracket and you can ditch your slipping shaft
collars on the acme screws. The nob on the y axis has been replaced with the 5
star comfort fit knob.

http://www.artscopes.com/legacyornamentalmill/tools/x_axis_lock/

So that’s the easy stuff that I have found. I’ll continue to show other items
as I dig into some old computers and flash drives. I hope this helps others.

Ornamental News

2019-09-08 Thread Tim
I longtime ago Legacy made a simple magazine Called Ornamental News. You can
find what we have here. https://www.ornamentalmills.com/omnews/ please do not
redistribute this hidden link.

Also, you will notice that many of the scans can be improved with todays
technology. If you have a complete set of these I will rescan them in there
complete form which would include many of the ads for the equipment removed
from these scans. If you only have one or two, that would of course help.
Send a note to me off the list and we can get these updated.

Also if you have the really early OM newsletters that came with the Woodchuck,
that would be really great to see those back in play.

Tim
