I just mounted and tested a 3D printed plastic duplex gear to replace the
acrylic one that broke off a tooth.  It works smoothly and shows promise of
being durable.  Type of plastic unknown.  I will have to machine a bushing
because I screwed up the mounting so that the duplex wobbles unacceptably.
Worst case is to make the "guide rails" found on almost all these skinny gears.

It honestly is no harder then changing the tires on your car. Yes it is a

But winter is coming and you need new tires! Linear rail makes the Legacy into

Hey Mac.

The EVO was a proto type machine that sadly never made it. Legacy ended up
dumping the hole manual machine's all together just a short time after this
video was made.

At the time. My complaint were the Price, and the size of the machine.

As I saw it then, IF the EVO was to replace the Legacy LOM. then why is the
size so small? If Legacy had made the EVO 60" long, I think I would have
bought one.

For me, shortly after, I ended up buying the Linear rail and re-doing my
1000ex. into what I call my Legacy 2020. I am very happy with what I did.
BUT... I think the all steel construction and the linear rails, plus there
tilting Z axis might have been better then what I made.?.

Sadly I will never know.

But It is fun watching Tracy doing his thing, In this video.

Have a good night.

rail makes the Legacy into a much better machine. Like the EVO. but much

The kicker for making an EVO would be to find someone with a CNC punch that

or patent issues shouldn't be a problem anymore, should they?

I just mounted and tested a 3D printed plastic duplex gear to replace the
acrylic one that broke off a tooth.  It works smoothly and shows promise of
being durable.  Type of plastic unknown.  I will have to machine a bushing
because I screwed up the mounting so that the duplex wobbles unacceptably.
Worst case is to make the "guide rails" found on almost all these skinny gears.

Talk about generation gap...I replicated some metal awning release handles
from my son's boat. (For those following, that's been the delay on the
ball
turner-nesting bowl jig). When I sent pictures of the three completed 3
piece assemblies
he reported his two boys' response "He can just do that?" I almost cried!

This seems relevant
<https://www.stopfakes.gov/article?id=How-Long-Does-Patent-Trademark-or-Copyright-Protection-Last>to

remanufacture discussion. If I were'nt so close to EOL I would definitely
pursue making a few with a team. Might still make at least the YZ
fixture. I've pondered the significance of tilting the router on two axes
and have trouble getting my head around the need. Would at least like to
have close up pictures or hopefully drawings of the XZ parts.

2023-12-11 Thread 'Curt George' via Legacy Ornamental Mills
 Good morning everyone.
Bill. there is no Copywrite in MOD what you own.Every time I suggest to use
linear rail on there Legacy, people run away form the topic.I have no idea
why?It honestly is no harder then changing the tires on your car.  Yes it is a
pain, outside the norm. But winter is coming and you need new tires!  Linear
rail makes the Legacy into a much better machine. Like the EVO. but much
cheaper.

Yes you are right Tim I’m a dinosaur these days, I only know what is never used
any more ☹

I have gone from a engineer that made things that were worth many thousands of
dollars and sold world wide

To an old man on a mobility scooter farting round in a shed doing forgotten
technology lol 😊

The thing that made me buy the revo over a EVO at the time was the fact that

Yes good idea as far as I know no one ever asked, but if I know legacy like I
do the answer will be a definite resounding no then they might offer to make
you one and charge you around the same price as one of there cnc models of
similar size which would be around 17K or 18K which was the starting price of
their entry level cnc when I last looked.

But who knows give them a ring and ask it is that time of year right now

their entry level cnc when I last looked.

But who knows give them a ring and ask it is that time of year right now

I just mounted and tested a 3D printed plastic duplex gear to replace the

Worst case is to make the "guide rails" found on almost all these skinny gears.

ONE More note on this.  1000mm is 39  3/8" 1500 mm is 59' 1/16" Depending on
the length of the LegacyYour prices may very.  Here are two extremes on the
same rail.

  Hello Ken
Depending on you skills and what you want to make.As I see it.The biggest bang
for your buck would be to put linear rail ontoany Legacy, with just a plunge
router running on the rails like the 1000ex and 1500 modals had. It cost me
something close to $100.00 back then TO add these rails. (BUT! Amazon has a
sale on it now until Christmas. for
$69.99)https://www.amazon.com/OrangeA-SBR16-1000mm-Automated-Machines-Equipments/dp/B07DL5Z9XQ/ref=sr_1_8?crid=242BLCK3QMCSJ&keywords=1000mm%2B16mm%2Blinear%2Brail&qid=1702255258&sprefix=1000mm%2B16mm%2Bleanear%2Brail%2Caps%2C92&sr=8-8&th=1
I put 16mm leaner rail onto my 1000ex. (here are 3 pix) The 16mmlooks like
it was made for the Legacy. By using the Original router carriage and adding
the slides only lifts the carriage up appx. 1" higher. So making a new bracket
to hold the split-nut, Or making two new brackets to hold the Acme screw a bit
higher, would be the only MOD's you would have to make.It was a very easy
process for me.
On my Legacy 2020 the hard part for me was to re-design the Z axis to work like
the way I wanted it to work.It is something that I did, and I still am very

I just mounted and tested a 3D printed plastic duplex gear to replace the
acrylic one that broke off a tooth.  It works smoothly and shows promise of
being durable.  Type of plastic unknown.  I will have to machine a bushing

RE: Look what I found on the Russian web site. ;-)

2023-12-10 Thread bulkeley
The thing that made me buy the revo over a EVO at the time was the fact that
none of the extras that legacy sold then fitted on the EVO because it was such
a different style of mill ,and then suddenly all manual mills including the
EVO where gone so that was the end for us all. So then as now its buy second
hand or make your own .

 Hey Dan!
With your skills, I know that you would  be able to make a Legacy pretty close
to what you see in the video.
