[LegacyUG] Sorting Events Globally

2008-04-23 Thread Thomas Herson

How does one sort events globally after they have been entered?

Also, is there a way to set the program so that events are sorted in date
order as they are entered?

Thanks,

[LegacyUG] Sorry for Repeat Post

2008-04-23 Thread Thomas Herson
I find that I asked the same question about globally sorting Events by date in
September of 2007.

Ron Ferguson suggested the following:
FileFileMaintenanceCheck/RepairProceed and check the box Sort All Events by
Date

This works! But it has occured to me that the procedure may only do the sort
for already recorded events, but does not set up the program to take the same
action for newly added events.

Couldn't this be a Preference rather than a Maintenance item?

That's an option when you do a Check/Repair.

I know it's possible to supress details for living people and change their

Legacy has a 'wish list'. On the Legacy Home panel, amongst the Support

RE: [LegacyUG] GEDCOM Export -- Living People

2008-04-23 Thread Martin Briscoe
If I do want anything about some Living people or anyone else then I prefer
to do it by making a copy of my file then deleting them using Search /
Advanced Tagging / Advanced Deleting.

One problem is that if, for example, you were given information on what part
of the family in confidence then even though you set some to living their
names can still be revealed if the wife's parents have died, a child died as
an infant etc.

I find that it is best to just delete them then you know that no trace will
show.

Clicking Options on the Events screen when events are entered enables them to
be sorted. The black arrows on the bottom right may be used to move a selected
event up or down.

Kris,

You can, of course, mark them Private in which case they will not be shown as
Private with no details, provided show private events is not selected when
compiling reports. There is a box for this on the Individual Screen.

I just recently upgraded to the Del. version in anticipation of
getting an HP PDA so I can use it in the field when I do research.
I have just begun to clean up my data base and am grateful for
all the
help in sorting etc. Thanks for letting me spy on all of the
ideas.
